Re rabies injection in the EU. I watched something the other night that says they need doing every year for EU passport (is it 3 years for U.K.?). Never had either as dogs not gone abroad but thought I would mention in case it’s relevant (or even wrong) πŸ‘

A friend has told me that Northernraider will be travelling to Spain in November and anyone is welcome to follow him. Its been my dream to drive to Spain but I’m on my own and find it fear of the unknown. I like my own company but also like the company of others. I would love to know the route so I can just get up and go there whenever the mood takes me. I have two Yorkshire terriers who go everywhere with me.Fingers crossed.

We live in Spain, and we had our dog Rabies injection done in Javea just before we left for this trip and it's a 3 years vaccine and obviously a EU passport. πŸ‘πŸ™‚ Bob.

Surely this can’t be the first day that we don’t have a post? ;)

Sorry never noticed this .

I don't actually have a set route in mind , ill be crossing the channel end of November as ill be 2 months in Ireland first and heading through france over 2/3 days in to Spain.... probably by the most direct route unless there's snow causes diversion . I'll only have 90 days in EU this time so ill be heading south fairly quickly.

Psssst .... I have to tell you this Tam ... but it gets cold in Ireland too ... are you trying to repeat the :cold: weather you had on your last trip. :giggle:

It gets a lot of rain!!! They don’t call it the Emerald Isle for nothing. Spent my honeymoon there in Aug 65 and it rained nearly every day!!!

Carol
As it was your honeymoon I'm surprised you noticed! :roflmto:

Spent 2 weeks in Ireland north and south in May and never saw rain

Yep i don't expect the weather to be fantastic in Ireland. But going at this time would be like going to north Scotland, mobbed, full of kids , parking restrictions etc etc. So im going in September when its quieter. Then heading to Spain and a bit of Portugal for the coldest months December January February... Maybe check out some land in Portugal while im there. If i manage to get dogs titre tests done i may look in to going to Morocco for a month or 2 but will see.

Ive never been to Ireland so i just want to check it out

November in Ireland he must be barking.
Well im going in September...but unless its very small ill be there till late November then back to uk heading to tunnel . I originally planned to go from cork to Santander but cant find any ferries for that time with dog cabins etc .. so it looks like ill have to come back to engerland then go over channel .

cross over to Morocco and drive down to South Africa, your followers will support you with lots of laughsπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜‡
I might well get to Morocco IF i can get dog tests done. Although with the price of diesel etc its not guaranteed as im feeling the pinch. Work is getting quieter too .

Get yourself to Morocco, it's only a few miles more from Spain but a bloody long way from Scotland πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Like i said i plan to if i get the dogs tests done.
I really wish i had got them all done in greece last year when i adopted ela ...but by the time i actually thought of it i was too late.

I need them done somewhere that i can stay reasonably close for a month so i can wait for the results.

So south Spain probably best place unless i got them done around dublin when i arrive in Ireland then collect them on the way back as im going right round irish coast

Jeeso that was fun

I just googled Vets in dublin and found dublin bay vets. Thought id give them a call and ask prices for tests ....apart from the fact i somehow developed an Irish accent of my own i could bot understand a word she said bar the word "email". πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ So i will have to send an email to enquire about it. But if i went Liverpool to dublin and returned that way then that would work out i think .

😳😲 Maybe they don't have N EU accreditation lab in Dublin..And it has to go to mainland Europe. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
Even so!

UK vets, and now Dublin vets absolutely take the piddle!

I've had stuff done in Spain for less than 200 euros that UK vets quoted Β£600 for, before their habit of adding bits on. The vet rocked up to the front door in a battered old Renault Clio, he was probably mid 30's. You would be struck off in the UK if you weren't driving a Porsche by your mid 30's!!

Jees Tam, the best part of a 1000 euros! The world has truly gone mad.
