Tam & co the great winter escape

Me too but you need £15 to £20k to own one.
You'd get a completely rebuilt new one here in Spain for less than that. I hummed and haahdd over a 1owner 2cv corrugated roof window van a few years back for 1890€ with full itv ,mainly cause it had the registration "Alf".
5k tops will buy a decent itv'd one here.

Seems red is still OK for many uses:

Briefly, red diesel will still be legal for use in agriculture, fish farming, forestry and horticulture; non-commercial heating and power generation; rail transport, marine transport, boating and sailing; circuses and other travelling fairs; and sports clubs including golf courses.
But not for petrol engines 😉

If you are considering downsizing the van as well as the waistline Tam, we had this park up near us last night, not my thing but at 57 yrs old it was worth a look.

I hope that’s not a bit of remorse and regret about getting rid of the Vario😄

1998, that will be bullet proof reliability if it’s been serviced regularly.
Yep i was tempted to offer 4.5k and do it when i come back next year. Doesnt need welding etc just interior building. Nice tail lift for motorbike and rear sun deck 😁

Carsington by any chance ?

Gina
Other side of matlock nearest village is Cavendish (I think that's what it's called anyway)

Well it must be the same van I know, surely there can't be two exactly the same age and that colour in the same area. It used to be parked in a field at Carsington Water. The guy who owned it lived in a tiny wooden Shepherds Hut he also had a vintage Porsche. He had no electricity, running water or gas and I used to wonder what his story was. I did try and say hello a couple of times. (I used to walk past every day with my dog)

Again sorry Tam, Gina, this one was left hand drive, and a youngish couple with it. It looked like some more work was needed but not bad for the age. The couple were really excited by the van and spent ages taking pictures of them selves and the van, really loved up! I guess they may have bought it although the pair t on the roof ain't perfect it was much better than the one in Manic's pics.

:giggle: No. I have just been told it is a lot smaller and was there a few weeks ago. Maybe have a look on your next walk down there. But yes he has now got a converted cattle/horse carrier. Ya got me there. Very clever  Can you take a proper pic for me if it is still there, pretty please :giggle: Walk down that little path to Carsington Visitor Centre, past a couple of barns and a large metal gate. It's the field next to that on your left.

Last time I was there he was in the Shepherds Hut. I thought he had done well with that converted Californian truck. I liked it. Now I will go and get me specs on :giggle:

😊 Just slightly different condition, you would hardly notice😉
He had another converted trailer with turntable on the front axle that looks like it’s just been remade delivered last week.
