From the prices others have quoted all around the country ... everywhere is dearer than where you are lol
There is a chippy going out of Chesterfield on the left, (towards Baslow) that we’re doing a happy hour fish supper for years at £4.50. Plenty enough for me but not been in for just over a year so will have gone up. They were the cheapest we found around there and they were very good, always cooked fresh as constant stream of folks

Ah so your pricing is for the fish on its own with no chips?

So at £5.50 for fish and then £2.20 for the chips its much the same as other places £7.70 for fish n chips

Didn't they stop the sale of red diesel at marina pumps? You certainly used to get it when my parents had a thirsty petrol boat. Had a feeling it was stopped some time ago which will just add to the problem.
You don't want to put red diesel in a petrol boat anyway 🤣🤣

Now that reminds me back in the early 80's when travelling up north stopped at a chippy in Chesterfield. My colleague asked for Huss & chips and the reply was "we've only got fish love" then he tried to explain Huss was a fish, then he asked for Rock Salmon (what Londoners call Huss) and was met once again with "only got fish love" I was having trouble keeping a straight face.

I originate from Surrey and remember rock salmon well, think we just called it roe but too long ago for me to remember. I had to explain to one of the daughter last month what it was when we ordered f&c. Surprised she didn’t know with it being on a local menu but there you go 😁

I always understood rock salmon to be the common dogfish which looks like a mini shark with rough skin though about 12 inches to 2ft long
Yep that's Huss.

Roe is fish eggs, you used to get roe fish cakes at the chippy.

Huss and dog fish are similar but rock salmon for us was always dog fish.
Huss is a bigger version of the same rough skinned shark like fish.
Not popular with fishermen as they are plentiful and a real pig to skin.

Oh and ripp you skin when you handle them.

gus-lopez just for research purposes have you any idea of the cost of titre test for dogs near you? And how long they take?

And does anyone know if titre tests done in Eire would be legit in an EU passport?

Not wanting to go down to greece again this winter as ive been the last 2 but id still like to sort out these tests for future travel ... Turkey and Maroc etc

Exactly, and it's why I still remember it 40 years later, my parents were seriously miffed the smokey diesel boats got a huge reduction, it was a lot of money all those years ago to fuel a twin engined petrol boat.

Half the battle when dieting is portion control and you seem to have the portions under control there, Tam.
Aye i always struggle with portions...the downside of cooking for 1 and not having a big freezer. Somethings im not bad with but others i make far too much
