Tam & co the great winter escape

There is even space enough for the van on the drive 😄
Aye they have a motorhome...a wee nu venture rio . Its tucked behind the hedge on right hand side.

Always liked that house since i was a teenager.

Probably worth half a million now

No fish and chips where I am thank god, however they had this , I would love one, Belves, Dordogne .

We were up at Gairlston again September last year and there is a place set in a similar outlook on the Bay.
Stunning, we both said we would like to live in that house.

Thats not too bad then . I might see about getting them done when there and maybe then i can go to morroco for a bit as otherwise im gonna struggle to stay out of blighty this winter

Sad thing is that I dont think you get much choice in the range of fish on offer in Scotland, it used to be one fish type only, and that was Whiting, hence the single fish, or 2 fish supper option as the fish portions were quite small being a thin fish, nowadays I am told you can see Cod & Haddock on offer. Not sure about Cod though as I have never seen it on my visits to see family.

We have always been spoilt for choice down south, years ago The Pensioners fav was Plaice, Cod has always been the No1 for most, London East Enders liked Skate Wings & Cod Roe fish cakes, My mate only ever had Rock Salmon (Huss) as he hated fish bones, very strong flavoured fish compared with others.

We order Haddock as it has more flavour IMV than Cod, and it has to be cooked fresh, as the stuff piled up on view in the busy periods is always Cod, I think many others have cottoned onto that also.
I have never tried Cod Roe, always been too scared at the thought of it, although I did break a lifetime fear of having a Picked Egg, it was OK, not as vinegary as I imagined, but wouldn't bother getting another one, nothing special.

Tam my favourite stir fry is Duck Breast, seared and left to finished off in oven, warmed Hoi Sin Sauce poured over after slicing it.(y)
2nd favourite, is Pork Belly slices, boiled for 20 mins, then left to cool, cut into bitesize chunks, roll them around in some BBQ sauce, or home made sticky marinade(y) stir fry again, served on top of mixed veg rice or noodles.(y)

Kikkoman's Soy Sauce, plus a dab of Rice wine vinegar should be everybody's favourite/essential additive to any stir fry.
Fresh Ginger & Garlic also, it adds flavour and is so good for you, you can cheat and buy it ready made in jars, but fresh is best.
Bon appetit, as they say.(y)

Talking of choice, just got out of a very big intermarche in France , jeeeeez they put any supermarket in the UK to shame……..

My new go-to stir fry seasoning is a spoonful of curry powder and a good slosh of soy sauce.

It's supposed to be Singapore noodles but works with rice or just vegetables.

Very tasty!

My son gave me a bottle of "Kimchi"! Juice; on Sunday, I have never come across it before. he told me to use it in special bloody Mary's.

not my type of drink. So

last evening wife did fresh noodles with king prawns marinated in the Kimchi juice. spicy clears the sinus, and refreshingly pleasant.

I tried Kimchi for the first time last week. It went in the bin :giggle:

I suppose the 'slosh' gets bigger the more G&T/Sherry one has before. This the word.

You don't want to put red diesel in a petrol boat anyway 🤣🤣
Seems red is still OK for many uses:

Briefly, red diesel will still be legal for use in agriculture, fish farming, forestry and horticulture; non-commercial heating and power generation; rail transport, marine transport, boating and sailing; circuses and other travelling fairs; and sports clubs including golf courses.

I just love a tank of Ribena but it’s silly money at the moment 😂
