Tam & co the great winter escape

I would remove it especially if you intend refitting a ladder. Re use the light bar on front.

Put a strip of this across to hide light bar holes.

So opinions please . The rear light bar ...do i keep or remove it .

Its huge and very bright but im not sure if its an attractive addition.
Practical so always good if it works!

It depends ... how is your Scottish version of the 'Full Monty' coming on?😄

Not attractive... but can you see it when enroute?
Also, will it 'stand out' so much by the time you've fitted your scooter rack?
(Which, to be fair, is unlikely to be a thing of aerodynamic beauty).

Maybe put its removal at the bottom of the todo list? I'm sure there's more pressing matters.

Yeah its just we have access to the wiring off it at present and as dave is sorting out the wiring for me it would make sense.

Its certainly handy but like everything the guy has done its excessive.

Its not needed on the front as the headlights despite being cloudy are very good

I have extensive experience with reversing artic lorries into small farmyards to collect milk in the darkest of night and you can never have enough lights🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes, a smaller high level brake light would look a lot better.

Plus I personally would definitely not refit the ladder. My van has one, I always worried about little scrotes going up there when parked up - and the skylights really wouldn't take much to wrench them open, definitely easier than the side windows. I don't go on the roof anyway, I'm too damn heavy! I made up an anodised aluminium cover plate to discourage anyone going up the ladder , as I can't remove it without leaving major holes in the roof and back panel - but if someone was determined they'd still get up there. I wish I didn't have the ladder.

Even more so if you've got dogs - a good way to keep my van cool but still secure is to have 2 of the skylights open and an extractor fan fitted to one of them running, but with doors & windows shut and alarm set. It is rather negated by easy access to the roof.

I've had an active use once for it in 9 years - one of the skylights stuck shut on it's seal after the winter, I sent one of the kids up there to give it a gentle pull from above!

 Aesthetics 0 Practicalities1 - at half time.
What was the final score Tam?

What flooring? Ply?

Then the u shaped lounge in on top?

Just remember it's got to take the load if old mo joke books! 🤣🤣🤣
Yep, 18mm structural (like the frame) set 3mm below the rest of the floor so a matching laminate can be applied above.

Frame being varnished now so it matches the existing board.

Oh wow ...im not going home lol im gonna have david and clara adopt me ....theyve just brought me my dinner.

Check this out......

I literally cannot move now ...im stuffed but that was amazingly good.

Jade and Milo savoured every bite of theirs ...ela did her usual hoover it down in an instant . Ela and milo are now spooning and jade's managed to find her way up on to the drop down bed .

Re. the light bar - the single reversing light on my van was worse than useless - so I put a couple of small 3 watt LED fisheye lamps in the bottom corners of the rear bumper panel, pointing down at the ground and out at 45 degrees to the side. Surprisingly effective for such tiny lamps when reversing in the pitch black, they illuminate what is beside the back corners of the van nicely, they're very unobtrusive and easy to power off the existing reversing light feed.

I agree that the light bar is low priority but if it bugs you get rid now whilst you can get at the wiring would be my vote!
