Tam & co the great winter escape

Nice pictures but whenever I see them I think, is Britain missing a trick by using tarmac instead of cobbles, there are no potholes and it always looks good. (I know, sometimes looks can be deceiving)

Strange what goes through ones head?
Many of the town's in uk were cobbles . Then they put tar down .

Our town centre in Dunfermline was cobbled originally. In the 80's they tarred it all spent a fortune. Then 20 years later spent another fortune putting it back to cobbles.

Zvikov castle doesn't look much from the ground eh. ...

Looks a tad boring.

Well from the air is how it appeared on the tv programme i saw it on ....and thats why i wanted to visit it.

I wasn't disappointed.

Hey Tam, how are you finding the border crossings, easy or a pain?
Do they ask to see any docs for the dogs, as I see many vloggers report they haven't even been asked to show any dog passports etc.

Fantastic photos
Are you going into Prague ?
Lovely city well worth a couple of days, but I know your not keen on cities.

Old codgers who are not to stable on their pins need safe level walking surfaces(y)

Can you come to my local town and tell that to the Councillors about the paving stones where us 'Old Codgers' walk?

Not sure where you are, but Cesky Krymlov is gorgeous. 13th century castle, compact and beautiful. Also there is a canoe slalom in the river outside the gates, which is entertaining.

Very well worth a stop. The bone church is also fascinating if a bit grisly. I thought I would find it distasteful and exploiting the dead, but I didn't. Bought some gorgeous glasses etc from traders outside too.

Most have been no problems. The only one that was a little strange was Bulgaria to Romania. No borders after Hungary though

No one has ever paid any attention to dogs

Broken Link Removed

Well i copied links, but no idea if they work.
My first attempt.

At Cesky, i camped on the river, it was owned by a Dutch couple, who had just expanded from offering camping only to river traffic to a campsite. It was stunning, and basic.
The entrance was very rough and ready, with about a mile of dirt track which my Vauxhall Zafira just about coped with.

One of those jewels in my memory. I was travelling with my brother and his friend, 2 weeks from Calais to Prague, Venice, Switzerland and points in between, in a tent.
We crossed Austria in the rain and didn't stop. That's happened 3 times now.

2 weeks from Calais to Prague - I used to have a car like that!!

I can tell you that cobbles are not good for mobility scooters and walking on. We have them in Truro. They get lifted occasionally and are never right again when put back.

@L’ Hobo When on a Morris Minor tour in 2019 in Belgium we were taken through a small town where all the roads were large cobbles/sets. It shook all my fillings loose!
Many years ago in a car and camping trailer, we got lost in the centre of Brussels and ended up in large area of cobbles that shook us so much that I thought the car was going to disintegrate. It drowned out me shouting ant my wife for getting us lost. We both remember that well😟

Never mind your filling, around here the potholes break your suspension, give you punctures and Rod Stewart has got himself a part time job filling them!
I hope he is working for mate's rates instead of his normal salary?

I don’t live too far away from Rod Stewart. I am thinking of sending him a list of the pot holes round here.

Go find your own celebrity, he has more than enough around here to keep him going until his next 'final' tour!

PS. Ed Sheeran was in court the other day, perhaps he needs some extra cash??
