Tam & co the great winter escape

One thing this journey will reinforce are the decisions you make about the build of your new van. Really enjoying following your travels good to hear you are feeling a better today.

Afternoon nap! Old before your time, even us 71 year olds don't do that.
Im just knackered. Im not sure if its because its been so cold the last week or so or what but im sleepy and at night im ready for bed about 10pm lol

Yep it will ...and last years did too. If anything im more and more convinced about that woodburner lol

I've come to the conclusion that Romania is just one big barking dog.

Unless you are in the middle of nowhere like i was in that snow you can guarantee you will hear a dog bark every second of the day. And if you should have a dog and go a walk then you will have dogs barking , jumping at gates and basically going mental the entire walk , if you have a jumpy nervous dog like ela is a lot of the time its absolute torture and takes any enjoyment out of a walk . No one walks dogs here they just put them in the garden and let them make a bloody racket.

Tam, bit like that in Poland. But you get the barking if just walking past the gate - without a dog.

When I ask Polish people, including Basia's son with his Alsatian down below, why they do not stop them, they shrug and say 'Dogs bark', and cannot understand when I say they can be trained.

I really miss my fixed bed ...id love sn afternoon nap but its so much hassle making up the bed

Sorry, I did not realise you had no fixed bed - well only a few more weeks in the temp MH.

We would miss our two beds, fixed rear and cab dropdown, plus we have a 2m sofa, which Basia sometimes uses for a nap.

Those and the garage just about determines why we do not want to change our Arto. Island bed attracts but then one loses long sofa.

Hows about this for the craziest woodburner and chimney installation ever. And why even at 10k it hasn't sold

Watch an old Yugoslavian film "Who's Singin' Over There?". Comedy war drama (not every body's cup of tea) but the heating and cooking on the bus is "interesting".

Obviously an ex US school bus.

Where was this, because it is still on a 'Q' (export) plate with a Portsmouth reg number?

North Cumbria. There were a few vehicles left rusting in a woodland setting. I've posted another couple of pics from the same location on a photo of the day thread.

That’s got to be detachable surely… 🤔
It will be - we were away a few years ago and saw a couple of van conversions and a coachbuilt MH which had been adapted to take wood burners which had the chimneys coming out the sides, they just took them off and put a 'bung' on the flue outlet before travelling.

Who knows but its ridiculous. Even if detachable where the hell do you store it.
Roof rack probably.

Roof rack looks like a good place. ;)

And once again absolutely bloody stupid. So before you light the fire or before you move you've to piss about removing a 6ft chimney and clambering up or down to a roofrack with it.

If they designed that so badly id hate to see the rest of it

Thats the 4th time now someone here in Romania has pointed at ela and said erdelyi kopo .....i normally just shrug and say sorry i don't understand ...but this old fella here in sibui kept saying it and pointing so i repeated im sorry i dont understand and he said breed breed erdelyi kopo ....i said im unsure i found her in greece ... he then said erdelyi kopo ... Romain hungary hunting dog and made sniffing the ground movements lol ...

So there you have it she either is a Hungarian Transylvanian hound or she looks very much like one .
