Tam & co the great winter escape

She'd be a poorer doggy if she got lost or hit by a car ....until im confident i can get hold of her in any situation i cant take the risk
Looked like you were in the middle of nowhere and with the cold snow I was thinking she might be more egar to come back to a warm van.

Knowing Tam's luck he'd try it then if he wanted to get near her she's start throwing snowballs at him!!!

Aye the problem is she doesn't seem to have that sense lenny. The last time she got loose it was absolutely freezing too but she still just likes the freedom. Its weird because if the rope is attached and shes loose she will come back and forth no probs ...but as soon as she realises theres no rope or harness to grab her with then she keeps her distance.

Looks like i missed a few interesting spots on the coast further south from here so im going to go check those out i think before i move further north. Theres a castle id like a look at on the other side of Burgas. ....would be good for the drone but its very windy today so we will see

Its a fake of course ....built in 1996 and i believe its just an empty shell inside . But the outside is impressive and the gardens are nice

After the castle i headed to the small fishing of sozapol ....this is a popular tourist town in the summer but its very quiet at the minute ....its a very pretty little village though with a lot of traditional half stone half wood houses.

Fred Dibnah was talking on the television last week about the very same building technique used to increase the floor area of upper storeys in Elizabethan timber framed houses. It's known as jettying apparently.

I thought he was dead.

Ok guys here is a strange one for you .

So 07.35 there's a knock at the door ....i had heard a car pull up about 5 /10 minutes before. I was still in bed in the all together ... Dogs are going nuts. So i shuffled in my sleeping bag to the window by the door ... opens the window and its 2 x border guards in army style uniforms. Straight away asked for passport ..so i shuffles back to try and get paperwork from its hidey hole ....guard looks at passport for ages through all the pages then uses what looks like a phone to scan it ...he then says what are you doing here ...i said i came to see the border ....he says this has no record of me entering Bulgaria. I gave a gallic shrug and said i came in near svilengrad on the 3rd ...now i noticed myself that it hadn't been stamped when i entered bulgaria but assumed it had been scanned. It was definitely scanned and stamped when i left Greece. I also got a rapid test done when i left greece but nothing on entering bulgaria . The 2 border posts are about half a mile apart .

He then stood phoning somewhere and reading off stuff from my passport ...looking at reg number etc ...a good five minutes while i was freezing my ass off ..
He then said something about vignette on the 3rd and i said yes i bought it at the border on the machine ...

He then said ok gave me the passport back and off they went.

So then how is that? I thought it was a given that our passports were at least scanned on entry and departure... I was annoyed when i realised it hadnt been stamped as id like it there as a record but i took it for granted it had been at least scanned.

Morning Tam, those guys were almost certainly military as that section of the border is a restricted area and policed by the army. I am surprised that you got down there without being stopped and checked in that last stretch of wooded track but you can be sure that your presence was closely monitored throughout the night :winky: You may well be checked again on your way out of that area. Be a bit cautious in taking pictures and do not put the drone up in that place !
