Another day and another beach , stopped in kavala today to do some food shopping and then parked up for lunch. It wasnt the best spot despite it looking a nice city ....lots and lots of rubbish about so i moved to a better spot near the airport but right on a lovely beach...and overlooking the island of Thasos

That was the successor to the Ford 10. We had one in the family (ADB 711 - Stockp't registered) from 1939. It was exchanged for a 100E Anglia in about 1955?

Now we are on to old Ford's, my first car was a 1949 Ford Prefect. You took the wooden floorboards out to jack it up. Every fuel stop out with a brake spanner to adjust the brakes, cables always stretching, braking downhill one foot on top the other to get enough force and pray it stopped. No water pump, I managed to overheat it & take the conrods out though the side of the block & big end out through the sump, found the big end on the road the next morning.

Nice, ready for restoration. My brother had one of those Prefects and started to hotrod it but sold nearly finished. I always prefer the Popular/Anglia version with pod lights.

We are now in komotini ...it was raining most of the way here so not much to see. I have a covid pcr test booked at the lab here in the morning so currently trying to find somewhere close by to park overnight. Not many options unfortunately . They only do the tests from 7 till 10am so i need to be there early. Hopefully then get the results that evening 6 -8pm or next morning. €47 fir nowt but needs must as wont get in to Bulgaria without one . Having lunch in a lidl carpark at the minute while i suss out the streets around to see where i can park overnight.

Well i managed to find a spot about 3 minutes walk from the laboratory alongside a small park so ideal for dogs .. also right next to a studio of some description so i had classical piano lessons to entertain me last night till around 9.30 ...overall it was pretty quiet for being right in the centre of the city. Anyway im just back from the clinic.... honestly that was a pure farce ...she just took a nose sample the same as all the free ones ive had etc ...no throat sample and not as deep or uncomfortable as previous ones either. Just a money making excercise in my opinion... €47 . And i dont get results till tomorrow morning. The one i had in france cost €30 and results in 30 minutes. Piece of bloody nonsense. So im going to have a boring day here today as its raining again and theres nothing of interest in this city to go see. Not sure its worth moving only to come back to the same spot in the morning.


Whats the general consensus on the 72 hours thing? Is it from the time the test was taken or from the time you get the results etc.

Im only 20 miles from bulgaria where i am now but i had planned to cross closer to turkish border

Despite it being cold and wet ive not entirely wasted my day .... I've picked up wifi on my tablet from somewhere ...and managed to download 24 books and 9 movies so far ...so thats good as i cancelled my giffgaff sim on that a few weeks ago as they were going to start charging me .... apparently ive not used it in the uk for a while ( no shit sherlock ) and therfore breach the "fair useage policy" which frankly i find ridiculous as for £20 per month i get unlimited calls and texts plus 80gb of data in the uk but only 20gb of data while in europe ....which is immediately 25% useage and i never use it for calls or texts but thats apparently unfair useage. Off course you cant speak to anyone at giffgaff to argue that point so as soon as they messaged me telling me if i didn't use it in the uk soon they would charge me per unit etc i just cancelled the standing order.

So ive no internet etc on my tablet anymore so i can only use it where i find free WiFi. No idea where im getting it from right now as it automatically connected and isn't showing the connection but i wont complain. Weirdly my phone can't find or connect to it. ....which is a shame as im low on data and it doesn't renew till friday


Its stopped raining so im going to take the dogs out for a bit ....while my tablet downloads a few more films

Be careful with that. I did something similar with 3 at the start of the first lockdown as I couldn't get through to anyone to speak to, couldn't cancel online. A few weeks went by and I got a debt collection agency after me!

This isn't a contract ...its simply a month to month purchase that they set up on repeat. A £20 goodybag its called. I pay it in advance and the last was december 21st. They emailed me on December 26th telling me that 14 days after that unless i used it in the uk that i would be charged per unit out of my balance. I then cancelled that standing order. I received an email around 23rd January telling me they were unable to renew my goodybag and that if i wanted to continue id have to contact them.

Ive just left it at that. Mobile data has been turned off since the start of January so i wasn't using anything


No contract so no need to cancel it.

Yeah ive had some company called lowell chasing me for 4.5 years now over some alleged £30 debt i owe to the 3 network. I answered their first call back then and told them if the 3 network had any business with me they could contact me themselves....they never have. Lowell sends a text once a month that i cant reply to or block simply stating they have been trying to contact me to see if im recieving adequate support lol. Ive learned just to ignore it. They put a default on my credit rating 4.5 years ago which has made little effect to my excellent credit rating . 18 months and it will no longer apply anyway.

I had a contract with 3 a long long time ago but well over 7 or 8 years ago . If they did send any communication regarding it then it will have went to an old address.


But this thing with giffgaff isn't a contract its just a payg sim that comes out on standing order unless cancelled.

Very funny thing just happened.... because im parked up centre of town on a fairly busy street i have the curtains drawn accross the cab behind the front seats and the blinds all closed bar the one opposite my seat and overlooking the park ...im just sat reading and the dogs were sleeping. This van has very tinted windows so you cant see in at all unless the opposite blind is open then you can see shadows etc but nothing else .

So anyway im sat there reading with my hood up as its a bit chilly lol and i suddenly hears a light bang on the window ....on instinct i go "jesus WTF " and look up at which point this blooming woman who has her hands on the window either side of her head lets out a scream. Ela thats lying below the window jumps up and barks followed by milo whi starts going nuts .... ...she ran off rabbiting hysterical greek to some guy who's already half way through the park lol. ..

Guess she never expected anyone to be in serves her right for being nosey
