I visited there in 1960,,still looks very similarCan remember as a teenager being impressed with all the shops selling sheath knives,,BUSBY.Well what can i say ....the city of San Marino is quite stunning ......its a bloody good hike up there mind you and even when you reach the city itself you still spend the day climbing......but its worth it for the views which are amazing. Its also one of the cleanest places ive ever visited ....its spotless.
It even smells lovely thanks to the dozens of shops selling perfumes and incense.....not sure if they are preparing for war but also an uncanny amount of shops selling weapons.
I was lucky to get a nice sunny day today but couldn't quite see the coast due to the mist in the distance but the views all around are fantastic.

Thanks for pics and comments on San Marino. It has gone on the list for whenever we get out of CV - I am now locked in the house (being over 70) by law not just a recommendation.
The more I follow your travels the more I think you like the same as us, so that encourages me to keep tabs on your posts. Thanks for them.

Can second San Marino, done the walk to the top 4 times over the years, that's as far down Italy that we have been, so it will be all new from now onTam

You would get up in the funicular cable car ...€4.50 return i thinkThanks Tam great photos I doubt I’d be able to get up there..
You could take the lift the locals use... .Thanks Tam great photos I doubt I’d be able to get up there..
AS it is a land locked country bordered on all sides by eu states it has to agree to the rules in travel, free movement ,etc, same as Andora, switzerland, Vatican city ,etc otherwise borders are sealed & in/out would be by air onlyIts apparently not in the eu either

Which is weird as it has no border control
And you're still alive to tell us the storylooks like a cracking place, no way Mrs CC will do them steps
Nearly killed her when I decided to take the stairs up at Covent Garden tube station.

She was done for half way up then an old lady overtook her
Obviously I pointed that out to her and she went off on one

Well my one and only complaint with san Marino is this
The petrol stations tempt you with their €1.10 a litre but then they dont take visa , MasterCard etc ....cash was my only option
And its a prepaid machine so you've to guess how much you are going to need.
Other than that its great ....free aire aswell with water and dump facilities.
Stayed just South of there near Riccione,,Think it was called Gabiche Marie back in the 60s,,only my second trip abroad..BUSBY.We are now in Rimini ....first time ive been on the coast since leaving Lenny HB before i broke down ...so a good 5 weeks
So im looking forward to seeing the sea.
Parked beside a park in a quiet residential area. About 100 yards from the waterfront.

I wasn't far off at €60 guage showing just below full line ...but the car filling next to me they were asking someone else in broken english how you got change as they had put in to much. For some reason I always calculate(guess) beforehand from the MH fuel guage how much it will take to 'Full', so over the years I now have a quite accurate idea and am usually within 2-3 litres. So I would knock 5 litres off my estimate just to be sure and allow for slope etc.

Eh??I wonder over the course of a year if they make a few quid with that set up, I imagine quite a few people will just p1ss off especially tourists.
