Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

It can be disconcerting, but remember it’s a city. We have found the businesses better at control though.
it’s a shame you won’t get the chance to do the residence but if you can walk up to the fortress for the view.
Yes and i suppose its a saturday also but i wasnt prepared for just how busy it was . I actually felt quite anxious when walking around as it was impossible to avoid people ...you moved out the way and they seemed to follow you .....i found myself attempting to hold my breath....just not a pleasant experience...i hope further south is quieter

But yes i might walk up there in the morning before i move on ...as it looks like a good vantage point

Wurzburg

Northernraider have I missed your test results? Have you had them yet? Colleague at work had his son go for one, (he doesn’t live with him but he popped round for a cup of tea) results back in 48hrs.....positive!!!
Said colleague is now to be tested and off work for 14 days🤷‍♂️🙄
So where is all this German efficiency?? Has Lenny HB nicked it all🤷‍♂️😁😁

Tam in all them pictures I can’t see anybody with a mask or social distancing no wonder your worried and no wonder this Virus is still out there And the fact you don’t get your test results quick enough. o_O

Well i know other peoples experiences vary but having just been a walk aroujd wurzburg....the only reason Germany has lower covid figures than the uk is simply luck ...and possibly because their track and trace app is as useless as ours.

No social distancing whatsoever to the point they would happily walk in to you or just bump in to you. No one stands back to let you past ...when you stand back to let someone else pass some ignorant git will barge in to the space. You literally cannot move ....ive never seen somewhere so busy in months....the old roman bridge here yoi cant actually cross or take a photo when on it as there is without exaggeration around 500 people standing on it drinking.

And after all that its quite disappointing overall .....id compare it to Glasgow ,busy , noisy and not very welcoming.

Being the start of the romantic road i expected something more from it.

Meh

Im glad to be back at the van .....probably the least safe ive felt this trip so far.
We found Leipzig similar and worrying. Look at Germany figures rising and its no wonder but way behind UK

The reason you can’t see anyone wearing a mask or face covering is because, like here. They only need to wear them when inside. So why you expect to see people wearing them in the street is beyond me.
We were in Wurzburg a few weeks ago. I, like Tam didn’t think much of it. We only stayed one night then moved on down the Romantic road.

There were some wearing them outside but not many . Had i taken mine with me and known it would be so busy with no social distancing id have been wearing it...
But then thats the thing ...a mask doesn't stop you catching it ...

Social distancing helps

But im moving on again tomorrow

Do you ever go into these places?
Not really ...its more the architecture and exteriors i like

But occasionally if its something unusual like the chapel of bones in spain for example ill go in

But inside castles and cathedral's rarely differ

Don’t blame you moving on. I wasn’t impressed with Wurzburg. Too big, too busy, too many people and that’s before you add in this Covid crap. I prefer smaller less crowded places. Did you get parked on the large stellplatz under the bridge? We did and I didn’t really like that either, although there is the little park at the end for first and last walks for the dog.

Nah i parked out of town at the sports centre ...nice and quiet only 2 other vans and door opening out to a nice patch of grass for the dogs

I too prefer smaller places going to weirtham village tomorrow its supposed to have a nice old town .. hopefully not as busy

Some of the towns on the RR are "fillers" quite nice, but nothing special, but be sure to visit Rothenburg, Dinklesbuil and Nordlingden
Yes rothenburg looks lovely ....i believe part of chitty chitty bang bang was filmed there

The germans are obviously having difficulty analysing your test. It must be due to the difference between German covid and Scottish covid. There’s comes out goose- stepping and eating lardy sausages and yours comes out wearing a kilt, playing the bagpipes and wingeing about the English.

You need to get that wee sturgeon biddy to ring her mate Angie Merkel and speed things up. She could let you in to the EU gravy train at the same time. Good luck with that.;);):LOL::rofl:

How do you find out about these places... just Google or do you have a guide book.

Just google ....simple search places to visit around an area etc ...or pick a town with interesting name and see whats around it.
I also google things like castles near me or , medieval buildings near me etc

The problem in Germany ive found is theres literally a castle in every town lol some have more than one.

Today we arrived in our second stop on bavarias romantic road and the village of Wertheim.......a walk through the old town and its half timber houses and up the steep climb to the castle that overlooks the town... A further hike was found following the outer walls of the castle ...and then on the decline we passed a group of guys dragging a canon up the steep stairway ...which as you can see from the pics is no easy task considering how steep the stairway is.

Then it was back to the van for lunch and to plan our next step.

Your sort of place...

Wouldn't it have been easier for the cannon guys just to tow it up the nice tarmac road?

Looks like they're making a movie or something...
Also noticed the less attractive modern style of German architecture in the background on the next hill.
