Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

Called the mot station this to book the bus in and got told they were booked till the end of june 😱 dont know if thats true or they are annoyed st me cancelling the one i had booked .

So i had to contact dvsa again and tell them i cant use the station i had put on the forms and paid for etc ...so they told me to just book one elsewhere then contact them to change the address etc etc ...

So anyway i managed to get a cancellation for this afternoon at 14.15 so its going to a place in kelty now .

Hopefully it passes or only needs something simple done ...

Wish me luck

Good luck! At least it will give you a benchmark to work from.
Yeah thats it ..i mean ive checked everything i can at the minute
There are a couple of rusty brake pipes but not wanting to strip that down st present unless it fails on them

Will see how it goes

Thats it now insured aswell . Ive gone with brentacre in the end as they were £70 cheaper than Adrian flux, they give 90 days Europe cover at present but 365 days cover when converted ( flux was 180) they also mirror my car no claims bonus

I dont think ive ever been so nervous

Yes there's 5 wires ..

I have brown/black live with ignition
Black/grey live with speed 1
Black/white/red live with speed 2
Brown ...i think earth
And black/purple. No idea so i assume parking switch
I'm guessing that black is your earth as thats common to both speeds can you not tell using a meter
Then refer back to the basic diagram i posted earlier

Come on Tam we need to know the result. I’m pacing up and down like an expectant father😂

Well unfortunately it has failed but only on one thing.

Its not heavy enough for the rear brakes .

So i need to fill the boot with half a tonne of something to get it past .

Otherwise its ok

If you can get an IBC in and either use water or sand , make sure its tied down well as unrestrained is another reason to refuse test .

Hmmm?
Doesn't sound too serious? What next?
Can you do this straight away and avoid repeat fee?

What you need is about 30 bus seats 👍🏻
Lol
Ooh unkind! 😶
Yes the problem was and i discussed this at length with dvsa tech advisors ...if i presented it with seats they had to test it as psv and check seats etc ....so i had to remove them .....to think i took 3 trips to the tip last week with all the wood etc i stripped out it 🤦‍♂️

How about a free mystery tour for 10 OAPs

Boy this gets expensive .

So the fee to dvsa was £91 the lane fee to the testing station £42 ...once i find heavy stuff to put in the van i can get a voluntary brake test ...thats £10 plus vat per axle

Then it needs a retest within 14 days ....thats £59.60 😱

I pay £40 for a normal class 4 mot with a free retest within 14 days.

Its bloody ridiculous

You could have left the seats in a heap tied down
Best bet is see if you can borrow three 50 gallon tanks water tanks
