After watching Panorama program last night , I’m glad I didn’t have to pay out £200 for the tests. The Milton Keynes test centre w looked terrible.

Please no one take this the wrong way, but is it something Northernraider is doing wrong, because he seems to have had problems getting results in whatever country he is in, right from start to finish.
Could it be something with his internet connection or something.

Bbc article showed some shocking practices going on in the labs with tests being discarded regularly and contamination. Got my 1st one back yesterday. All clear. 😇

Oh yes, Spaniards don't like paying a cent if they can avoid it. they`'ll dump in any rambla or open space.
Exactly the same with parking they wish to park right on top of where they are going without paying.If they can't they will park miles away & walk rather than pay 1,50€ for all day. Amazes me.

Well I’m sort of with them...don’t know about Spain but in UK where does the money (a LOT of it) go.....to councils for their final salary pensions and to fund more parking machines. Why SHOULD we pay for parking.....just another tax like speed cameras....I’ll NEVER pay for parking and if everyone did the same the fleecing would stop because the councils would make a loss on maintaining the machines...but of course that will never happen....used to be able to park in Regents Street, London for free when I were a lad....

Charging probably started as regulating supply and demand. Major cities excepted, France has more space so more free parking. Problem in the UK is that once the principle of charging is established then it’s human nature to milk it for all it’s worth. Our local council recently started charging for parking at parks and recreation grounds which never got full.

Not sure if that matters. Even if there are a lot more cars why charge to park...if there isn’t a parking space in Regents Street or anywhere else then you can’t park there until you find one. Why should charging come into it ....apart from the reasons I’ve explained above....also death for town centres which are struggling as it is....but councils have a vested interest to charge for parking more and more as it becomes part of their income and towit part of their generous pension provisions. Of course it depends on the council...some worse than others....try parking in Brighton these days...loony Liberal council....second mortgage territory 🙄
 
Most of the profible car parks, in town or busy places outside have been farmed out to NCP. I certainly wont park in them, even if I'm in anything that gets under the height barrier and fits in the space. I don't mind reasonable parking charges.

My daughter who lives there told me that back in 2018. Bt I didn't find it too bad £10,50 all day up the Hove bit on the esplanade & overnight foc. Half the price up the other end.

I got the confirmation emails from the test provider of payment ok
I got the emails from them to create my online account ok
I got confirmation of online created ok
Email advising test kits on the way ok
Email telling me they had been deliverd etc.


But no emails telling me they had received the samples ....i have tracking numbers and they received thr first one on the 23rd and the second on the 28th

Ive still received no emails from them neither confirming receipt or the results.

My quarantine ended yesterday so ive been out and about today

Spam and junk boxes checked daily and nothing


Tried phoning the test centre several times and it just gives busy engaged tone


Basically they are useless

Parking wardens on duty 24/7, 365 days a year, one of the UK's most car unfriendly towns. In some areas single yellow lines are in force no parking 24/7 need to read the signs very carefully. Unless absolutely necessary I won't take the car into Brighton.

Brighton would be lovely with less cars and that's part of the aim of high parking prices in the centre BUT we need a park and ride and better, cheaper public transport!

Went there in Feb....got ripped off for 2 hours parking in NCP....£17 ! Didn’t read it properly had to have some sort of card for the “cheaper” price of £12 ! My fault.

Spent £50 in Brighton that day in various places.

However will NEVER go to Brighton again in a car or without a car until the present council are ousted and parking changes. I don’t like being ripped off. I’m still boycotting Slovenia from my vignette €300 rip off 🙄....they’ve got 2 years to go.

Both places have lost a lot more money from me than they gained by their rip offs.

oh and won’t go to Belgium again from an on the spot fine of €130 ....think it was €130 could have been €80...then again probably would never have gone to Belgium again anyway...boring place, terrible lorry filled roads !
 
As luck would have it ive just had an email result from my day 8 test ...negative

Still never got my day 2 one but i expect that was negative too .


Jackie got her day 2 negative yesterday .

The campsite (C&MC .can't remember the name) is in a park and there's parking in the small car park at the entrance and also along the road in the park. You can walk to the marina, get a little electric train or the bus in to town.
 
What no more parking/overnighting in Madeira Drive then?:(
I haven't been to Brighton for years now, last few times were for conferences, and not only did I have to pay for the hotel, I had to pay extra to use the underground car park, then I noticed I was charged for the day I left at 9AM:swear:

EDIT: here guys! go onto google earth Brighton/Madeira Drive, go along towards the marina, about 2/3rds the way along you will not believe what is parked there, a converted horsebox MH painted green, with a caravan all kited out in timber, port holes, cart wheels, you name it. Looks like they have been there ages, semi flat tyres, and loads of junk strewn underneath the caravan. How have they got away with that I wonder, lovely spot though.
There is a punch bag attached to the rear of the MH, with a guy practicing his boxing skills.o_O
