Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

What no more parking/overnighting in Madeira Drive then?:(
I haven't been to Brighton for years now, last few times were for conferences, and not only did I have to pay for the hotel, I had to pay extra to use the underground car park, then I noticed I was charged for the day I left at 9AM:swear:

I think you can still park in Maderia drive, being a local not a place I would want to park overnight. You are obviously not familiar with Dukes Mount (perhaps you are:eek:)

Any reason you chose Kingspan? It’s a open cell PIR and any joints or broken foil it will absorb moisture. What about the noise? You need some acoustic stuck on the outside metal, otherwise will be a sound box. There is a dodo mat 10mm self adhesive which is a thermal and acoustic. Then you can use whatever you want on top of that. Or have the hole think foam sprayed.

Lenny HB re: Jukes Mount not 🥧🔑by any chance?:swear:
As said have a look on Google Earth Madeira drive, cant believe what I see.

I plan to use this stuff to soundproof it first https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/32081613...d=link&campid=5338547443&toolid=20001&mkevt=1

Stops panel vibration ...

Then kingspan or equivalent with a vapour barrier over the top

My old sprinter van was spray foamed inside ... But its expensive

Beg your pardon. Won't happen again - although mine was just about parking really.

EDIT: here guys! go onto google earth Brighton/Madeira Drive, go along towards the marina, about 2/3rds the way along you will not believe what is parked there, a converted horsebox MH painted green, with a caravan all kited out in timber, port holes, cart wheels, you name it. Looks like they have been there ages, semi flat tyres, and loads of junk strewn underneath the caravan. How have they got away with that I wonder, lovely spot though.
There is a punch bag attached to the rear of the MH, with a guy practicing his boxing skills.o_O
Every time ive been heading over to Europe ive tried to visit a few of the places on the south coast , Hastings , Brighton etc and ive given up as trying to park a motorhome anywhere there was a nightmare. Never did get to walk on brighton pier ...such a shame . I wonder what the motorhome tourists from Europe make of it when they get off the ferries or tunnel and want to visit that coastline ... especially since on the other side the french coast is very accessible.

As is everywhere in France, and parking free in most places except big towns.
But this camping carpark thing is slowly wearing it down.

I think you lost that battle a long time ago !

do you really need acoustic damper if you glueing kingspan to the panels?
It helps cut the noise down but only putting patches here and there . Im just following what seems to be s common practice with other folks builds.

Hymerbell what I want to know is, how did you manage to spend a day in Brighton and only spend £50? £9 for one glass of wine and £3 for an icecream last time I was there, and that's just for starters, by time you've had lunch, more drinks, done the pier rides and had a cream tea it's more like £100 -£150 for two. Parking is cheap as chips compared to the general price of anything in Brighton (y)

We did exactly the same on one of our trips over thinking how lovely to meander along the coast as we were heading to Plymouth . No stopping at all anywhere so saw nothing !

Where is this Brighton place ?

It was lockdown...only a chocolate shop and fish and chip shop open...

That's me, refuse to pay for parking on principle.
Cheap as chips here so not worth worrying about
Parking wardens on duty 24/7, 365 days a year, one of the UK's most car unfriendly towns. In some areas single yellow lines are in force no parking 24/7 need to read the signs very carefully. Unless absolutely necessary I won't take the car into Brighton.
Foreign plates = park where you like  Daughter said to me last time when I was dropping them /picking up at Brighton station" you can't park here"!!!!
As the traffic warden said to me in Devon when I thought i had paid, I had a ticket from the machine, but actually hadn't " foreign plates so there's no point in me even wasting time writing it out"
BUT we need a park and ride and better,
Only if mH's can get in?
cheaper public transport!
To be honest even if they were paying me good money to use it I couldn't bring myself to get on any type of public transport
Still never got my day 2 one but i expect that was negative too .
Claim your money back vi the cc company. They'll soon find some results or make them up then::laughing:
How have they got away with that I wonder, lovely spot though.
Also the last time I was there there were people camping in tents on "the Lawns" & they had obviosly been there some time as the grass had been ct around them at least twice.

Where is this Brighton place ?

It is the rougher/stranger eastern part of Brighton and Hove, which is normally pronounced with a S. london accent for Brighton and a 'plum-in-mouth' for Hove.

I am glad I moved away from both 60 years ago. A bit ingenuous as I got a good private education in Brighton, and lived and played rugby in Hove.

Well i have had to postpone the mot that I'd booked for Tuesday ☹️ ....the wipers don't park and the washers don't work. I thought as i had read online of other issues with these that the multi switch /stalk was at fault so i ordered one last week ... that arrived today but unfortunately made no difference £43 wasted there .

So i set about trying to access the washer pump which is a pita to get to as its located at the very rear of the windscreen washer bottle which is fitted tightly to the inner wing...but i managed to get it out after removing the headlight and indicator. I also then set about removing the wiper motor and to do that youve to remove bonnet and the skutttke panel below windscreen. I was dreading that as several of the vario builds i follow on Instagram have done this and found loads of rust under there....but in that point im lucky it seems as there was only 2 little bits of surface rust which have cleaned up well with the wire wheel and are now treated and painted. The skuttke itself will need sanded and sprayed but is also solid.

So anyway ive taken the wiper motor out and the washer pump. .....problem is im not convinced the wiper motor is knackered as it does work it just doesnt park....they aren't cheap so im unsure about ordering a replacement if it doesn't solve the problem ....from internet searches there doesn't seem to be a wiper relay on these vans but im going to reconnect the motor to the electrics tomorrow and see if i can hear a relay click anywhere just to make sure. The pump i will try with a couple of wires from the battery to see if its working.

Have delayed the mot till a week on tuesday to give me time to try and fix them.

Heres some pics of the strip down

In other news ive now fitted the new exhaust to the wee suzuki and the rear brake shoes , lambda sensor and welded up the 3 small holes i found in the front inner wings .....whole underside has also now been wire brushed and sprayed to try and stop any more rust.. its now ready for its mot on Wednesday and should go straight through now with no issues.

Glad the Suzuki is behaving and almost ready for work.
Hope the woofers are well, enjoying life (and being spoilt by Granny).😊
Loved tbe pictures, (not) but realise you boys need something obscure to talk about amongst yourselves 😁.
Keep well and happy, don't forget to stash the cash ready for the next trip. Regards to Jackie. 😊

Makes a vha ge you played some music I llike.

Front end looks very clean.
I would take the wiper motor gearbox apart and have a look at the park switch.
Yeah once ive tried listening for a relay click tomorrow im going to open up the motor and look for anything obvious

The front is pretty good ...im going to touch up any rust spots and paint all in there black anyway the bonnet needs a bit of work on the inside lip but im glad theres no welding needing done in that area ...inner wings etc are all solid.

Typical that its electrics once again thats holding me up
