Well done. What a relief it must be. Are you going to start a new thread for the project?

Rusty bus ....and it wont start 😭😭 battery is dead aswell as the car one

Welcome home Tam...

All that way and all those miles and some stress along the way looking for Zorba and hunting him down....

and would you believe it.... he appears right on your own doorstep...😆

can’t wait for the build, you just might inspire me to do a conversion...😱

If I knew how to,I would put up a video of “Welcome Home”,Peters and Lee wasn’t it?

End of a great trip and a great thread, now we want to see a rusty old merc turned into a beautiful swan.

Thanks for the thread, Tam. I’ve enjoyed your travels.

Welcome back Tam - I think you should sleep for a week after that stressful journey.
How does quarantine work, are you allowed to give your mum a hug?

I dunno ....it has the date i left but then after that it says 90 ...and im just wondering if thats what its for ....which if it is then its actually wrong
I don't think you need to worry, I had a little google.
All EU stamps seem to be standard format - and all have a number after the date, so I expect it to be a locator of the port of entry/exit.
eg:

That's from 2012, way before any of this brexit nonsense.

If you think about it, fairly impractical for a border agent to look up each time and alter his stamp.

Glad you got home safely, the project looks good and that will keep you busy. 🙂
Really enjoyed your trip thanks for taking the time and sharing, somewhere we have been wanting to go for a long while, great photos and certainly got the taste buds going, just need some guests and euros coming in, then it's worth us getting someone to meet and greet and clean our apartment. 😁

While it's quiet we will just have local trips and do it ourselves. 🙄😁 Bob.

Welcome hame Tam! What an epic journey. Sending some sunshine your way from a very warm & sunny Aberdeen 🌞

We need a photo of that and the hymer so we can see how the compare.
Very difficult as all squashed in here like sardines lol ....but the bus is longer than the hymer by 300mm overall . Inside from back window to rear of front seats its 600mm longer . Its the same overall height at the minute , and its 100 mm narrower externally but a little more than that internally.

The chassis on it is a pure beast ....much bigger in the flesh than i imagined from photos ....17.5 inch wheels too and everything is massive compared to the fiat

So having had a bit of a poke about there are bits of the body worse than i expected and other bits better than expected.

The underside and chassis is solid and like a tank ,. It needs a few of the cill panels but not all of them , around windows is pretty rusty but not holed and they are all being removed anyway , the gutters seem ok but a few small patches needing attention, all the doors are solid bar from a little surface rust , the back however is the worst area and the box panel that the tailgate hinges on is badly rusted and needs lots of work ...i suspect that area will throw up some headaches when stripped out

Theres nothing on it that can't be fixed ....but still investigating

Glad you’re home safely Tam.
Thanks for a great thread. (y)
Like lots of others we’ve enjoyed your super photos and drone clips and all that sun, sand and sea has made a long winter seem a bit more bearable.

Now looking forward to the restoration thread.

Richard.

What an epic adventure you have had. Good luck with the new project. Make sure you are registered to vote on May 6th for the very important Scottish elections, you know what to do with both your votes!

Welcome home and thank you for a great thread it certainly cheered up a boring and dreary lockdown. Good luck with the conversion and lots of happy adventures in it when completed.

Did yer Ma no leave the key under the flower pot for ye son ?
That first pic of the bus looked HUGE, parking it next to the Hymer brought me back down to earth :X3:
Thanks for a good read over the last few weeks and good luck with the build.(y)
