Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

Glad you made it home safe and sound because I'm sick to death of being envious over the last few month's lol
Nice one Tam

I was waiting for an appropriate moment... because you had allsorts of travel stress when I saw it mentioned...

Isn't it necessary to have at least 2 windows in the habitation area for DVLA for change of use?
Only if you want motorhome status
Im happy with van with windows

And i may fit one or 2 smaller double glazed units ...but i dont want these huge single glazed condensation catchers

Thanks for the thread Tam. I've read it all.

It doesn't seem so long since your setback and return home last year, yet so much has happened in the interim. And now you're back home again.

I'll look forward to a renovation thread, even if I don't post.

Say hello to your mum and good luck xxx

Well done Tam. Great trip and very interesting places you visited, as well as all the lovely places you stayed. Loved the drone pictures.
Good luck with the conversion, I'm sure you'll do a great job (y)

Hi Tam , welcome home. I’ve been following your thread from your breakdown, only bought my Moho 2 years ago and have been thinking of going abroad in it. Can positively say, I will be going abroad, you have inspired me to do similar

PS...

Did you ever find Zorba ?

  :giggle:
Of course not, he didn't go to Crete and Zorba was Cretan! Thanks Tam, love your journey, I have never followed a thread for that long. My partner was getting sick of hearing about your trip, so p'raps it's as well you've got home!

What time will you start the “strip out” today Tam? You are dying to get started I know.
Started yesterday lol

Gotta do my test this morning and get that sent off and then ill be back at it.

Problem is i really need rid of the seats asap

My plan at the minute is to get all the seats stripped out and the overhead racks etc but then i want to take it for an mot before i start stripping all the floor out etc. Its a big bus and if i need to move it to a barn or something then id prefer it to be able to be driven.
As its only done 6k km since last mot im hoping it wont need much to pass ...and i can also get it changed then from minibus to phgv and van with windows hopefully.

Ive still not fully committed to doing it yet ...but if it passes mot etc thats half the battle. The bodywork hasnt got like this in just a year so hopefully none of it is affecting its mot ...

My experience of MOTs with vehicles that have a proper chassis is mixed. Seems to be very subjective. The panel body is not structural as such but I have had issues where a vehicle has failed due to corrosion at the point the body meets the chassis. Basically the arguement of the tester was that the body could 'blow off'.

In the olden days if you didn't like one MOT station failed it you could try another. I don't think you can do that anymore can you?

Have you had a good looks at her undersides yet?

No danger of that as the underside is brilliant ...no sign of corrosion anywhere there ....but i can't get fully underneath due to the bodykit .

Not removing the kit till after the mot as a good chunk of the rear offside cill is going to come with it 🤣

Where will you dispose of the seats? eBay? From the photos they don’t look in bad condition.
I stuck an add on gumtree for them yesterday but to be honest most of them are slashed so only really good for reupholstery or scrap .

They seem to have a value. Some seller sell the whole lot. Some individually.

In other news before this thread decends in to rusty merc

I said id post up what the last 7 months has cost me on the trip .

Total cost from leaving here to returning was £3564

Of that £3164 was using card payments and £400 cash

Thats including £ 690 in ferry costs
£320 in Eurotunnel costs

Im not including the £190 for the covid tests required back here in uk but have included the 2 tests done in Europe €60 Italy €30 france

A lot less than i had budgeted for but with everything being shut it was hard to spend money really
