Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

Have been in pet passport building many times, Eastern European vans arrive with crates full of puppies, tiny shivering babies, cold and miserable, don’t look old enough to be away from mum.
But they all have passports/paperwork, and are chipped, poor miserable babies
Passed on to someone who thinks they are buying a healthy puppy.
Shouldn‘t be allowed.

Been happening a long time before covid unfortunately.
They'll arrange a transfer at a motorway services somewhere - some believable excuse why you can't collect - the animal's welfare is not a priority...
Used to be strays hoovered up from the streets, so no idea of their history.
Now the puppy farms banned in the UK have relocated.

Plenty of UK dogs need rehoming without resorting to Eastern Europe.

Trouble is, Animal Rescue Charity is now big business.
IME there isn't enough supply vs demand for rescue dogs in my park of uk. I used to volunteer at a rescue and a dog wouldn't be in for even a week in most cases. The rescue would bring lots over from Ireland to keep up with demand and they are super cautious about who they rehome to. I'll be rescuing a Spanish or Portuguese dog next i recon.

Its amazing how many uk registered vans come in here each with like 10 or so dogs in transit ....i think thats 14 ive seen now just since 3.30 ish

I also watched an immigrant trying the doors on a sprinter van with a car on a trailer...seen him dissapear round the back of the van and not appear again the whole time the owner was in passport place... So i shouted to the owner when he came out to check his van ..lo and behold the car doors were open and the guy was crouched down in the back ..just aswell i have milo the rottweiler that barks if a fly goes past. Seems these buggers are still trying it on. View attachment 474643View attachment 474644View attachment 474645

Sounds like they are not abiding by the rules, probably not declared all of them. 🤔 Bob

maybe the rules at british rehomers should be relaxed a little when we rehomed a dog we said never again the hoops you have to jump through are ridiculous
True. They make less fuss if you want to adopt a child than they do about adopting a dog 🙄

Whilst I'm full of praise for the work they do, some rescues lose sight of what they're there for. One of our current dogs was brought in to the council where my wife worked at the time by the dog warden. She immediately decided it would be our next dog. Rules say dog must go to Battersea (at Windsor) from council. No problem until we took our existing dog there to double check there would be no problem. There wasn't until the so called dog behaviourist there decided there was. In the end I had to threaten to go to the national press, where I had connections, before they would let us have her. I know more about dogs behaviour than she did.
As a matter of interest the dog is still with us, and she had many happy years with the other dog before he left us.

I strongly believe dog breeders and others involved in pedigree and designer dogs should have to pay a very hefty annual licence fee to trade, together with an equally hefty tax on each dog sold. both of which should go to cover the costs of policing the trade, with a proportion going to dog rescue.

Well i thought yesterday was bad but just taken dogs out for their morning pee and theres 11 animal transport vans in this carpark right now
Seems its big business

11! I wonder how many dogs per van,and how many van loads per week. Big business indeed, although I recently read somewhere that a lot of WFH folk are now going back to work and selling their dogs, so demand might slacken.

All seems a bit odd to me....an ideal project for an investigative journalist. Much as I distrust the press, they are very good at animal care stories. Perhaps you should send photos to the Daily Fail (other comics are available).

Oh,and I meant to say......have a good journey home. It has certainly brightened many a dull day by reading about your travels, and even your trials and tribulations.

By the way,we drive on the left here.....probably the same in bonnie Scotland ;)

Take care.:giggle:(y)

Ate they allowed in to the U.K. without quarantine because they are a business ?
Yes they will be ...truck and van drivers excempt which by what i saw on the ferry from greece to italy is a very big mistake ...not one mask being worn inside the ferry lounge bar with 15 -20 drivers sat in there.

Don't know whats going on now but board said please proceed so i drove round as did many more and all sent back to carpark....theres a huge tailback of these dog vans queing to get on so everything is backed up ....

Tam hope you remembered to check your van for any hangers on.

Well looks like im missing that train 😡🤬🤬. But 7 of those dog vans have now been led out the carpark back in direction of pet passport office ... nothing moving now and carpark is packed up

Could there be humans in the vans, dogs just a front, nothing would surprise me nowadays.
