He's planning a bulkhead to block off the cab...You can get out of the sliding windows in the cab in an emergency in ours.
Milo has never really had a choice ...the motorhome only has 2 front seats and jade claimed the passenger seat from the start before milo joined us. Even when jack joined us in spain for a week last year she would growl if jack stole her seat . So milo has always been in the back but hes the more nervous when we are driving especially if its a bumpy road etc so i think he might like a seat up front too. They both have harnesses .Tam, I've just had another thought - does Milo take himself through to the back of Toby?
Before leaving Scotland I had my little Beardie collie Nell, who was later joined by my current Border Collie Lass.
I regularly drove a pick-up truck in which Nell chose to travel in the open back both on and off road (like many farm collies).
Several times I insisted she come into the cab, when made to do so sh would jump down in the passenger foot well and travel there. If parked and stationary she would get up on the seat and watch tge world go by.
She happily chose to ride on the back of my 800cc road quad in an open box on the vack seat, although I insisted she was securely harnessed to rwo anchor points.
Once I bought tge moho I did a couple of exploratory local runs before leaving for Spain.
On the whole of that journey Lass chose to sit on a window seat immeadiately behind my drivers seat, where she would excitedly look at passing traffic (in the Uk) or the view once on the continent.(I believe, here in Spain and maybe in France too, it is illegal to allow dogs to travel in the front of vehicles.
Meanwhile Nell took herself off to the back where she lay on the floor or in her bed fot the entire journey.
Neither dog was travel sick or afraid when traveling, they did not throw up, pant or slobber, and both would rush to get in if a door was the least bit ajar, one just liked to look out of the window and one very definitely did not.
Sorry it was a bit long winded but perhaps Milo prefers not to see the moving horizon

Theres not many reasons i think id need to escape ...the biggest is likely a fire or hanging of a cliff like the italian job ....in which case having escape in the front or cab area where theres already a door isnt so important ....its more an escape from the rear if there was some reason uou couldn't get to the front. He's planning a bulkhead to block off the cab...
I had thought about some form of discrete hatch so ill see at the time. Its hard to plan it all properly till im in van with a tape measure etc ..that stage is a long way off at present. Some sort of hinged bulk head with half above sofa to let light in when parked up but hinged up for security when needed. Sure whatever you decide it’s going to be a nice conversion on a model of van I have always wanted to do and hope to one day. Looking forward to the conversion thread.
You fitting big skylights then?Looking at it and even with a bit extra bulk im sure in a proper emergency i could get through a skylight.
SwineYou fitting big skylights then?
I don't see a problem as it would be part of his business operation to make way for the new bus.Just reading the covid restrictions in uk and Scotland i actually wonder if the guy will be able to deliver that bus start of march ....i wont bother bringing it up with him just now and just wait and see but what a bloody carry on.
You will be fine then you got a Hymer not a Transit.Just reading the covid restrictions in uk and Scotland i actually wonder if the guy will be able to deliver that bus start of march ....i wont bother bringing it up with him just now and just wait and see but what a bloody carry on.
Its going to be fun getting home when i need to
Read on Instagram last night too a german guy fined in france for trying to drive home from spain .... apparently france is transit only and in 24 hours which is ridiculous and dangerous to be honest.
Jeeso no wonder theres no lockdown lol ...-15 only the brave go outIn Ro there is no lock down. Night travel restrictions only between 11pm to 5am, unless you have a self declaration with a permitted reason to travel. Usually emergency necessities and transport firms.
Covid PCR test at any entry point, within 72hrs.
Weather, not so friendly today is strong wind, minus 15 and sunny. People have flooded the ski mountain sites and any resort is fully booked. For the next 10 days is forecasted to stay within minus 15-20 deg and more snow.
What about a marine Houdini hatch, although could be expensive!I had thought about some form of discrete hatch so ill see at the time. Its hard to plan it all properly till im in van with a tape measure etc ..that stage is a long way off at present.
Im not going for a holiday lol im going that way as my choices of routes home are limited ....if it wasn't for the 90 day thing id be waiting it out in greece till things improve as the journey back to the uk is getting more and more complicated.I don't know but at -15° perhaps the pups would need dog boots (seriously) to protect their pads from frost-bite?
Not my idea of fun!
Maybe bette to go at a different season or wait til ypu have a van with a woodburner.
Yes i was thinking about whether the coastal area of bulgaria might be better . Haven't planned a route yet but trying to avoid areas likely to be lots of snow etcHi Tam, enjoy the warmth there as long as you can, quite cold here and blizzards last night, just spent half hour warming the hab door lock on the RV to get in, very windy and more blizzards expected throughout the region. PCR test on entry but now only partial lock down measures, essential shops open and no problem with fuels. Our infection rates rising again so everything can change very quickly. Have you got your transit route thru BG sorted yet ? You might want to look at the option of hugging the GR coast and crossing into BG on the eastern side then Black Sea coast up into RO, bit more mileage but better weather and plenty of free stops, good roads from Constanta to the border with Hungary
Jackie still plans to go from patras to venice on ferry then transit through italy and france ... she's being a typical woman and burrying her head in the sand at the minute.OK, I don't envy you trying to get your head around the different restrictions of the various countries.
Are you and Jackie planning to stick together all the way back? I should think having someone to talk through potential travel plans and options would help make things clearer and less stressful.
I wish you both good luck, continued good health and safety for the remainder your trip with hopefully a fair bit of enjoyment thrown into the mix too.
PS is Jackie's van equipped to cope with minus 15° and do you both have adequate heating, bedding and clothing for such temperatures?
He's all mouth and no trousers really ...he could easily have swam out there and got us one for dinner but he didn't.....gutted as duck a l'orange would have been lovely.Oops naughty Milo! It's a good job it doesn't look a very serious attempt lol, otherwise it might have caused an International incident, or ended with a beach barbeque where duck wasn't the only thing on the menu.
The water colour and the sunset certainly look glorious.
gutted as duck a l'orange would have been lovely
