Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

I think they're particularly nice dogs ❤️. If Jackie's looking for a new dog, I think she could do much worse than one of these.
As for yourself, if you really want another dog, then go for it, but the question has to be, 'Do you really want another dog?' Only you know the answer.🤔
Truth be told i said to mum and others before i left that I wouldn't go looking for one BUT I wouldn't be opposed to having another.....of course there are many factors to consider ...dogs can be tying theres no doubt about it , they can be expensive if things go wrong etc

BUT

When you already have one ....you already have the tie
The expense ....well i can afford it ....massive vet bills not so much but deal with that if and when it occurs ....some never need vets others do

But the unconditional love , loyalty , entertainment and fun they give you in return makes it worth it in my book ....i have dogs now ...every decision i make for my future is made with them in mind ...so its not so much whether i really want another dog as it is do i want another friend and life companion ....and i dont think you can have too many of those.

So time will tell .....theres one particular pup here that seems to have picked me ....its here all the time even when the others are all off together ...the mum comes and checks on it ever so often and then leaves it here with us

Ive only had one on my knee so its easy to see which one it is 😁

Look like lovely pups Tam, have you spoken to the people at the taverna to check they're happy for them to be adopted ?
Theres no one there ....tavern is closed and empty the 12 dogs and 6 or 7 cats/kittens all just sleep up there on the porch. Its local men and fisherman , passers by that seem to feed them ...the 2 mums have collars and all the locals seem to know them but no one seems to actually own them or feed them

How can yooou leave any of them behind! (Sorry) They look healthy and well fed.
Honestly i said to Jackie if i could id take them all home and then find homes for them in the uk ...they all have such great temprament you should see them playing with the cats

Went up to the village earlier for a few groceries etc .... found this on route

Its well cool ...an old Scania

Practicalities?

Price to owners
Can you find owners
Is that even relevant - do you just abscond with one or two?

Paperwork?
I know you imported Milo/Jade into the UK, but didn't they come from a Rescue Centre, set up for the process.
Will Brexit complicate the import procedure?

Any vet here can chip them and issue a passport and rabies vaccination ...thats all they need

I've met a few folk here thats adopted dogs ...one other Scottish guy from elea ...chip passport and vaccines les than €100 he said

Change of pack, temperature and lifestyle will reshape the dog....

You’ve got a good pack, be sure that any addition adds fun not problems - good luck mate
Yeah id not take any that didnt get on with my two ...and theres a couple of them who do .... especially my favourite one so will see

Not decided yet either way just seeing how it goes .....but in no rush to move yet

I don't think it is finally settled yet but there have been several threads about it on here.
Going back to the uk- no change.
Returning to europe need for a health certificate from a vet and possibly tbe titre blood test which is time consuming and costly but long/everlasting once you have it.
I am not sure what age the first rabies jags can be done then I believe you have to wait 3 months before titre test and time again before travelling.
There will be many others on here can post up the relevent articles.

You can't without it getting much more expensive and complicated as importing over 5 is then looked on as commercial.
I know they are all lovely but ....there will be other people who will adopt them and it's good that there are only male's left.
If you want to be really kind you would temporarily dognap their daddy and get him castrated before the bitches have a chance to get pregnant again.

Looking at those photos would you reckon these pups are over 5/6 weeks old?

Having looked online it seems that to take a dog in to the uk it needs to be between 12 and 16 weeks old. This is due to the normal age for rabies jag being 12 weeks and then you need 21 days after that before it can go to uk.

It does say that some can be vaccinated early at 8 weeks etc

So given that i have approximately 11 weeks till the end of march or 15 weeks till the end of april if the pups were at least 5 or 6 weeks now then it is possible i could have rabies jag done within the next 4 or 5 weeks and that would be plenty time.

Depending on covid situation will decide whether i leave greece for Bulgaria at the end of January or whether i stay another month till the end of February.

If i decided to take one i could get passport and chip done ASAP and get rabies vaccination etc done later either in greece or Bulgaria

Just unsure how old thos lot are

We've bred loads of puppies, Tam. You can't be certain how old they are. I looked and thought 'six or seven weeks, ' then asked my hubby, without telling him what I thought, and he said 'six or seven weeks.':cautious:
Best to ask a vet.

I was just googling info and it says about the teeth so ill try and have a look at that tomorrow and compare ..

I think by how adventurous they are and active id have guessed between 6 and 8 too so that would be ideal really ...

Obviously if i decided to take one then the vet would be first stop ....but i need an idea of age to help decide whether to take one or not lol

They would have to be a minimum of 4 weeks old for timescale to work out

Which i think they definitely are

I just had another look at the photo's and it looks like mums milk has almost dried up..have you seen her feeding the pups ? they usually stop feeding them around 7-8 weeks properly although pups will still try and get the odd suckle now and then..If they are not trying to suckle at all now they are more likely to be 9-10weeks .

Silvia

I would agree with 8/10 weeks, they look big, strong and independent.
A baby puppy's coat looks like it is a couple of sizes too big still and is all wrinkles and folds.
A puppy will start losing it's milk teeth around 12 weeks of age.

First jags will also need to cover parvo, leptospirosis and hard pad. Vets will normally do those automatically when you take a young puppy to them.
They are two part injections also.

Don't forget if you do decide to have one of the pups it MUST be microchipped Before it is given any of the injections or they will subsequently not be valid in it's passport.

Ive not seen them go near them for food , cuddles yes but not feeding , they are all on biscuits , fish and anything else locals feed them

Just a thought, they all - and now yours too will need treating for fleas and lice
Yes i was thinking that although as yet i dont think they have them which is good

I was looking last night and thete appears to be an english speaking vet with very good reviews just 6km from here so it would be the first stop anyway if i did take one
