They might be little now, but they're going to end up big. :giggle:

Lovely!
The bitch is wearing a collar so may not be a stray. None of tbem look underfed.
They arent strays as such they seem to live at the taverna and locals look after them there were 15 puppies originally but some have been adopted

Chances are your potential Zorba will end up a lot bigger than Milo and Jade, (not that that needs be a problem).
I'm not sure what makes you think there maybe two litters, if the parents are not 100% pure bred some of the pups can be "throw backs" to earlier generations.
Colour genes are also quite a complcated science- hence black pups in a "gold" litter.
Apparently canines can also have two sires within the same litter.
Which I suppose must be quite a possibility with an 'in-season' bitch running freely and getting multiple matings (gang banged).

What is th dog just coming into the background of you last picture (with a black face) ?
Does it have pups? Looking closer at the bitch with the pups in the foreground of the picture she has an interesting coat formation with what appears to be a wide, heavier area of coat along her spine. Has she also got rather loose, surplus skin around her throat?
My second "Mastin" has this coat formation and both she and her sister have the loose folds of skin around their neck and tbroats.
Careful Tam, your little pup may have a secret giant lurking within! 😃

Mostly as there are 2 females with enlarged teets ...both look like they are nursing. Then theres the daddy whos a brown one

Theres 5 pups that all are very similar and then another 3 that are smaller and different colour and then 1 black brown brindle coloured one

One mum is golden coloured the other is white with brown brindle face.

The male isnt in any of the photos

Thats 2 females , and 7 of the nine pups ...the brindle one , the 3 white and 3 of the beige and white ones

The 3 all whites seem to have smaller paws than the 5 beige and whites

I have been asked several times if my second "Mastin" is actually an Anatolian shepherd. She is identical to her mother, beige and white, the rest of her litter were brindle with a little white. Their dad was like a tall, black and white St. Bernard.
Anatolian shepherds originated in Turkey as livestock guardian dogs, they were bred to be the same colour and size as the animals they protected.
I thought the bitch/bitches in your photo looked about golden retriever size but both of them have the small, triangular ears of the livestock guardian dogs rather than the longer, floppier ears of a retriever.
My geography is useless so I don't know the proximity of Greece to Turkey. I would suspect those bitches and pups were more likely to be descended from livestock guardian dogs than retrievers. Therefore with good nutrition they might well have the potential to outgrow both their parents.

Yes, my first thought was Mastin, when I saw the bitch. 🙂

No idea what kind they are ....no idea what size they will grow to either but yes they will be bigger than jade thats for sure. The 4 adult ones that are around are all bigger but hard to give you a comparison to what.

From what i can see off them going by colours , the different ears , markings etc
I figured the 3 smaller ones were from the golden coloured one ....and the others are from the white with brown face one

If you zoom in on this pic you can see the likeness of the pups to parents and the difference in pups

But its just a guess could be completely wrong

Chuck them all in your van and any others you can find, puppies are worth more than humans for bringing back across the channel at the moment!

For clarity, that is a joke before I get any lectures.
Your right ... £2k for a scabby mongrel on gumtree....😱

Tam

Just catching up.

Your 'olive oil' was labelled Oinos (wine) lefkos (white) Red is kokino - I cannot change to Greek alphabet on my keyboard.

The octopus has to be battereed minimum of 70 times and washed and scrubbed on rocks/concrete a lot to get the black ink out.

There are a few other Greek habits I could inform you about but not on a public forum. Maybe you will find out for yourself as winter draws on - if you are unlucky.

Keep enjoying it all.

Geoff
Pray Tell.

Mrs Emmit is VERY curious as to why Greek men seem to allow one fingernail to grow to a long length.
Any ideas. Genuine question.

I have been told that it is to show that they do not do manual work - otherwise they would get broken. Poncy idea in my mind, bit like always ordering more food than they can eat - just to prove that they can afford it. Both appear as 'nouveau riche' affectations to me. Habits the ancestral families do not demonstrate.
