Starlink ordered… I feel it’s the only sensible option now..

If you are paused in the UK (email address 1), transfer to Spain (email address 2), can you transfer back to the UK using your original UK account (email address 1) or do you have to create another UK account (email address 3)?

Just to help avoid confusion with cancel or transfer Starlink. For myself or anyone considering this later.

Wether you go down the Carpmart route of cancel your current subscription totally first and then reregister or your route of straight transfer from logging in to their website with current subscription (paused) and hitting the transfer button.

You will need an address in said country of choice. (campsite is Ok)

A different E mail address to one previously used for subscription.

As it's in Europe a means of paying in Euro currency (Revolut)

You can keep your existing phone number.

I think that covers it.
Good coverage I think, I paid mine using my UK credit card that doesn't charge when using abroad. All went through OK for me.

I asked this question of Starlink Customer Service last month. The original email address won’t be associated with an account so can be used again. So you only need two email addresses to swap around. You can only swap every three months according to their terms. I raised this as it doesn’t work with their two month max roaming policy. They have put a note on my account that I can swap every two months if needed. The issue is, that account no longer exists; which I’m not sure they thought through! I certainly didn’t. Luckily, my approach at this stage will mean I’m not swapping either Starlink from the countries they are registered in again at the moment.

See this is the stuff I don’t get.

We can change to a cheaper price country probably have more use and yet pay with a UK based credit card. I do wonder how long before they cotton on? Until then (y)

Great information though and I will give the clarity card a try first

Now if only I could use my UK address and not have 60 days restrictions :xThumb:

We always get shafted in the UK for subscriptions, YouTube do the same with their shocking premium prices compared to other countries where it's a fraction of the cost.
At least for now starlink are allowing people to move it which is good. Not sure for how long though but for now it's working.
You can Also use the service once migrated in the UK for 2 months as per their terms and conditions. After this you will need to return to Spain though to make it work but is still an option. I've never used it in the UK before as I've always had mobile service but it may come in handy.

My initial thought was Spain. But as someone else mentioned and made me think France may be a better logistical option for us as we never use the direct ferry to Spain preferring to drive through France also covers the holidays to Northern Europe without having to reset in Spain as this would be done on the way home. It just limits Spain to 60 days

Another option is to get a mini currently on offer in Europe and register original in France and mini in Spain especially when you are saving £36 per month on uk prices.

I like your plan! 👍🏻

It’s also made me reconsider mine! The dish I’m picking up tomorrow Gen2 like my current ‘Spanish’ one, I will now probably register in France as this is where I shall use it for 3 months a year. This gives me options for roaming in Spain, Portugal, Italy etc and the Spanish one for five or six months whilst we are there, also with roaming capabilities too!

It’s a bit of faff, but worth it for the service and way cheaper than the global roaming option! 👌

What I find is funny is that if Elon had left things as they were I would have been happy but in trying to restrict us we end up with more for less.
Hoping to find a shop if France now that stocks the mini. Darty seem to sell them.

Zac said he paid using a uk credit card that allows free euro payments. Like clarity from Halifax

Has anyone had the below...ive checked all the cables, all seem.fine. rebooted a few times amd connection seems to drop out after a few minutes.

I clicked the cable error message and was taken to a "how to page" then a page that said a new cable has been ordered and is on its way.

I'm not sure it even is the cable.

I had a cable failure just over a year ago. They sent one out very quickly FOC. Ever since I’ve been extremely careful with the cable. ✔️

Just strikes me as strange, never even spoke to me on email or whatever.the cable itself was clipped in position 12 months or so ago and has never been touched. It's on a static in Wales.

We will see when it comes.
Makes me feel they know some cables are suspect to just send one out.

I agree, they are very aware of the Gen2 cable issues. It’s badly designed and now replaced with a Cat cable. I am very gentle on the insert and removal and pay particular attention to keep it scrupulously dry and away from any moisture…

The cost of getting a human involved in a cable issue will be way more than detecting the issue and sending another out! Can’t argue with that on a number of front really! ✔️

For me I paid as mentioned using a UK credit card that doesn't charge when paying in euros. It was the same credit card I used on the UK registration previously.
No idea about PayPal but you will know as it will just refuse it at checkout.

Just for information.
Cable arrived 48 hours, replaced and back working.
But as I said, strange. This cable was clipped in place right up to the plug on router, never moved never touched, and failed.
Me thinks they know they are suspect. But can't knock the quick replacement and a month's service credited.

Very strange, mines been on the roof nearly 2 years with no issues. I don't move mine at all as it's just constantly plugged in. Mine will be a pain to replace as would have to remove it from the roof to do that. Hopefully that won't happen anytime soon. They must know about it though as no way they would just send out a cable without any troubleshooting.
Nice simple fix though.

Yes, increasing numbers of lost ethernet packets and transmission retries probably get reported by the dish to the app, and that would be a good sign that the cable is faulty, maybe due to water ingress?

Mines ok so far but could this highlight a future problem in transferring to France using a random campsite as an address. Any parts needed would be sent there. :xangry:

Good point, hopefully that won't happen but it's a risk none the less.
