Starlink ordered… I feel it’s the only sensible option now..

When one of the articles said according to the BBC :xrofl:

Enough said

Nothing wrong with Musk. He's prepared to say what most people are scared to these days.

A few people saying they are not going to use his products make a headline set against the millions and millions that will use it.
if you think Musk is a nice guy and not a problem child you must have missed his actions. fwee comes with responsibility of no harm. Others have left X because of his behaviours the Tham Laung Cave rescue was a typical fiasco which musk calling one of the british divers a pedo… yup he says things others won’t and you admire this ? Doesn’t seem a very nice thing for anyone to accuse the rescues of

Regarding the BBC all news takes a perspective it does not mean it does not contain a truth. You will find other outlets saying the same or similar.

To tryyyy and get back on track.
My cable went knackered as I posted a few days ago and they sent a new one no questions asked and gave me a free month. New one plugged in jobs a good un, total down time 2 days.

How do they know it's the cable ?? Are certain pings or signals sent back to "muskys" army

of course the world has moved on, and continues to do so. I have free to air streaming etc but also have the ability to take films with me along with scrabble chess other games and books to read I’m not reliant on a broadband connection when away. It’s not a must have but nice to have.

This isn’t my point what I have said is that I will not give Musky my money I don’t need anything from his organisations

You’re not answering the question??? So do you have broadband or fibre in your home? I’m assuming you do… well I live in the Motorhome for nine months at a time so wish to have a pseudo fibre service whilst doing so… you berate me for using a service from Musk as I’m funding him and his business, yet offer no other alternative; there isn’t one! So what are you suggesting I should do?

This is frankly a pointless discussion and I don’t understand why you even bother to post on this thread? 🤷‍♂️

As I said I am not knocking the technology and I’m sure you had connectivity with a mobile 📱 I am not berating you personally as it is your choice.

We travel as most do and probably 80% of the time we get internet access the other 20% we do something else or move to get a signal if we need a zoom call etc.

Are you a politician? 🤣

You are still dodging the question! Do you have broadband/fibre in your house? It’s a binary answer, Yes/No!

In the real world, rather than an ideological one where I could choose to avoid swelling Musks coffers, I too would like a choice of the pseudo fibre service I use for nine months of the year whilst travelling. I can’t select another service at the moment as there is no alternative to Starlink.. so what are you suggesting I should do? It appears you’re suggesting I should put up with a service that in your experience (and mine) is only 80% effective (mobile)… seriously???

Starlink reaches capacity limit in south east England.
And now they hint at this

80% of the time is more than ample for me and 20% helps with digital detox

You choose whether ever suits your needs, as I have said I will never spend money on a company owned by Musk.

Quick tech question for Sunday morning. I'm enjoying good Starlink speeds down in southern Spain today. My gen 2 set up is working well with a new GLi Beryl AX router in use using bypass mode. Bought this excellent little router to replace the very average Starlink router.
Question. Now that I've bypassed the Starlink router with ethernet connector and switching on bypass mode, can I physically disconnect the Starlink router and unplug it from electricity? Or is it still needed to support dishy?

The technical answer is turn it off.

if it doesn't work you need it turned on, if it does work you don't need it

Sorry couldn't help myself giddy with excitement as we leave home today for Spain

Thanks. Hope your trip south is better than ours. 4 hours delay on the tunnel and then5 days of driving through mist/fog all the way down to the Spanish border. Definitely the ferry next year.

Thanks. (y)

Leaving home at 1-ish today. Heading to Port Solent overnight then ferry tomorrow 3pm. To Caen.

No rush. We have 75nights with nothing booked. Probably around Denia to start in Spain. Murcia and south to wherever the sun is. Possibly Cadiz and Portugal. Who knows. That's the fun.

Waiting to get to France and will then do a transfer of Starlink to a Campsite address we use regular in France that will give us better usage and cheaper. What can go wrong?:ROFLMAO:

You will still need the original router as that's whats powering the actual dish from my understanding unless you are going to convert all of it to 12v which you might as well if not using there crappy router

Help please.
So arrive in France and this morning I’m trying to transfer my service to French address.
Logged in on Starlink went to your Starlink and clicked manage.

It says I should see a cancel button but there is not one there.

Any ideas? Does the Starlink need to be turned on to cancel?

I did mine with it all on…

Did you see my post about the process I followed?

Is yours currently on a subscribed service of paused? My one was on a subscription and I had to wait for the PST time to pass to 00.01 before I could complete the transfer.

I went through a forced dish update before I cancelled the subscription (belt and braces and probably not needed) and it also updated when I took out the new Spanish subscription.

If your doing it from paused, I don’t know but was it Raul who did this?

Edit: it was zac who did the transfer from paused ✔️

Mine is paused at the moment. Although if I turn it on today it is £14 to renewal day so not too bad

Mine was paused before I transferred it, it had not been used for nearly a year. I clicked transferred and did it that way, i did not turn it on or un pause it and I did not cancel it either. In fact, if you unpause it, you will pay for the month and then won't be able to transfer it for another month.

The issue I had was getting the amount to show as euros on the new account, but this was over come by changing the country to Espanol. Once I did this, I had the amount in Euros, and it went through immediately at 72 euros (£60)

That’s why I don’t want to turn on really. But my thinking is that if I turn on tonight and pause straight away my renewal is 4 days time so I will be paused again. Won’t have to wait another month
It is paused at the moment but won’t go past the transfer button. Says contact customer service. Also no cancel contract button.

So when you click "Transfer" you cannot then enter the email of the new account where it's being transferred to continue? if not then there is an issue with your account, and you will need to contact Starlink as from my experience that's not normal.

Exactly. It says contact customer support. Tried 3 times the same. Raised a ticket but god knows how long I will have to wait.
Was hoping to watch the football tonight

Be interesting to see what they come back with as to why they have removed your option to transfer the kit, i am assuming this has not recently been registered as i know there are some pre reqs about transferring once activated if its not been very long.

Found the info
You can't transfer a Starlink kit until at least 90 days after activation or 120 days after purchase, whichever comes first.

Assuming this does not apply to yourself?

Can’t be that.

I’ve had it for a year. Last used 11 th October

It was used 4 times last year. Or do you think it’s 90 days suspension before you can transfer?

No you should be fine as it's 90 days from first activation i.e. you buy it new then activate it and then cannot transfer it for at least 90 days. Very strange indeed, let us know what they say

That’s what I thought. I don’t understand on the instructions it says cancel button on the left side on screen. But I can’t se it anywhere.

Will just have to wait for them to answer

Did you get a reply yet?

Typically no.

Tempted to turn it on today and pause it straight away. As it will give me 3 days to try with it turned on.

If you do that, read my posts about swapping when one has an active subscription. ✔️
