Starlink ordered… I feel it’s the only sensible option now..

Anything you can think of that might trip me up?

Did you use the same phone number as before? Or does this also need change from when used before

I will change the e mail address
I used the same phone number from the previous one ie my UK mobile no. They are not checking this, the address can be anything as long as it's in the country you are registering. Don't forget to take down all the details of the starlink just in case but really for me I only needed the KIT no but others have said you need the router info as well.
Good luck anyway.

You definately don’t need anything to do with the router, it’s a dumb box! I’m using 13v conversion and a TP Link router and swapped easily… the only trip up was it not being disconnected from the service in EU time, was fine as soon as the PST clock tripped past midnight.

Ok just seen that on the website site.

So basically just cancel this contract not transfer and keep all the details before removing. Set up as new with saved details in France. I will use our campsite address. New e mail and my UK phone that I use for current contract with new starlink app installed

Just trying to cover all bases. don't want to be stuck without for 3 months :xsmile:

Yes cancel!! 🤣

There is a email you can send to yourself as you’re cancelling the original sub with a handy link which has all the unique details pre configured. Very easy!

Going from your issues connecting with time differences would you say early evening is the optimum time to do this as them over the water will be awake?

if anyone has any thoughts please add ...

i am buying another starlink tomorrow, its pre loved and the contract will be cancelled and i have asked for the details etc. i intend re registering it in France in March after full 12v conversion. should i use a different email address or can i add it to my existing account, albeit being re registered in France, whilst in France and using a french address and not the UK? adding it to my existing account would make it easier !!

though i suppose starlink themselves would provide the definitive answer ......

When I registered ours here at the house last year they wanted all the numbers including all the bar codes off the delivery box? very odd. Can't throw the box away now in case it's wanted again.

I would say keep separate. Don't trust them not to do you over. Unless they give a discount for 2 obviously :xsmile:

Too late for that I'm afraid.

Need a new email address!

I’m picking one up from Fred on Sunday! Not converting it to flat mount just yet, although in June when we are back, I can see me doing them both! Will be plagiarising your design ideas too! ✔️😜

well as im not that far away, youre welcome to come over and i will strip one of mine down so you can see what ive done - you could make the enclosure while you're here using my 'frame' - its a ten minute job at the most ....

PS, as for plagiarising MY ideas, ive copied most of my mods from other people, just added a few tweaks by trial and error and then improving on what i had, so the credit goes to them to be fair. Any changes i make from here on in are just for my 'wants' as opposed to an actual need .... i.e. swapping out the GPS

The KIT no will also be printed on the delivery box but this is the same as what's in your account once registered. No need to keep the box but you do need to note down the details from the account before the transfer

As others have said you will need a new email address, this came directly from starlink support

I never cancelled mine, I just hit the transfer button. I can only say what worked for me. Mine was already paused since last Jan so not in use

Thanks. Very kind of you and I may well take you up on the offer!

The thing is I really need to create a hybrid which I can swap out easily as I will have two dishes. Hmm 🤔

For me I couldn’t transfer and had to cancel the account, create a transfer email, which then contained all the unique identifiers and wait for PST time clock to reach 00.01 for my service to actually be cancelled to enable the dish to be re used. 👍🏻

Interesting and seems logical really. I take it that either way this is all done through the app and not by just turning on Starlink.
Mine has been paused for 3 months

as the one ive done is only around 50mm in depth, it shouldnt really be an issue to carry more than one ..... if you look at Roger Ivys you tube channel - he goes through the whole process of conversion, including making the casing. it might be worth checking out his three videos from start to finish. i like the fact that he shows it all, including the parts that didnt go as well as it could have.

Mine differs in that i have also included the router board within the casing - but im sure youve already checked it out in this thread (and stalking me on the bosses facebook LOL) - i ws hoping RogerIvy might also have a go at that and do a you tube video, but i assume he's busy with other projects and of course running a well resepected business LOL!

Yes I’ve seen the videos. It’s not the conversion so much (you and Rodger have covered that) as having an easily demountable yet permanent installation so I can swap out relatively easily, yet keep it well waterproofed, aesthetically sorted too! I won’t mount the router in the dish as I’m very happy with the current setup. 👍🏻

I've got mine perched on a couple of removable brackets up against one of the skylights, so it's effectively on the roof, but it means I can also easily take it off and place it outside anywhere, inc the roof, windscreen, rear or side of the motorhome.

Yeah I need to have a trawl around for ideas/inspiration. I want it permanently mounted (For months including driving) but relatively easily swappable! 🤷‍♂️

Mine has been paused for 3 months
I turned on mine before we left the UK as I needed to get the router info which was not in my account assuming this was because it had been off for 11 months. In the end though I didn't need that as I just entered the KIT NO and it did the rest itself. I am assuming again that Carpmart had to cancel because he was still using it maybe but either way seems to work
1st job when I return from this trip is to convert it to 12v before the month is up so I can test its ok. I have all that is needed at home., just annoyed I didn't take it with me on this trip.

I wasn't saying everyone should use it or could afford it. I was responding to your quote that it was in your words

It appeared to a few of us on here that we are wasting our money and that unlimited data sims are the answer.

I was simply saying for some of us that price is excellent value.
I was simply saying, the price is high.

Just to help avoid confusion with cancel or transfer Starlink. For myself or anyone considering this later.

Wether you go down the Carpmart route of cancel your current subscription totally first and then reregister or your route of straight transfer from logging in to their website with current subscription (paused) and hitting the transfer button.

You will need an address in said country of choice. (campsite is Ok)

A different E mail address to one previously used for subscription.

As it's in Europe a means of paying in Euro currency (Revolut)

You can keep your existing phone number.

I think that covers it.

Agree with all above and is what I detailed when I made my transfer and posted about it a week or so back!

I had an escalation call with the team lead of their customer services a month or so ago (I did post on this thread WRT this). She was very helpful and was also very clear that in my circumstances; currently using the service (not paused) I needed to cancel first. The transfer button, whilst visible didn’t not allow this action as my dish was live. This was further validated by the inability to transfer until after the current subscription was cancelled at 00.01 PST.

Now I understand why you cancelled :xdoh:

In that case as mine has been paused for 3 months I'll transfer it like zac

We will go for address in France. It gives us better use going forward and as it's cheaper I may use it in the Uk as well with an easy reset on a short trip.

A question on prices. Do you know what the unlimited Starlink prices of France and Spain are compared to our £96 at present?

Along with zac your knowledge and helpfulness in this is greatly appreciated. :thanks3:

€72 for Spain… I haven’t checked France.

Spain theoretically has a €9 per month govt levy too, though I’ve not been charged this… not sure why I’ve not been charged though?

Just found a way to check. and France is the same.

so basically £36 a month saving on uk prices and less limitations.

I see they also have the mini on offer at €327 (£272) and it's £399 in Uk

Sounds like you have a plan… the mini is good value! 👌

I did have until I saw the price of the Starlink mini. :xsmile:

We have limited space being a panel van and it was on the radar before Elon decided to mess us about.
