Starlink ordered… I feel it’s the only sensible option now..

Thanks both, didn't know I was supposed to stow it!

Just had a look through the app and I cannot find the function, could someone point me to to the right place? I found how to melt snow.........

TIA

Not on mine. Under settings I have; snow melt, sleep schedule and reboot but no stow.
Someone will be along I am sure with confirmation but I am sure that's where it was on mine. Can't confirm as mines flat mounted on the roof but I only sent off my spare one Friday and I thought that's how I stowed it before sending.

The "Stow" function is in Settings - Starlink. It's a slider control. You have to have the router and dish connected to action the "stow".
Actually, there is a manual way to store the dish which I didn't know about, have a look at the is You Tube video. You learn something every day (y)

It’ll have to be around 50-60£s a month for me to buy….🤔

The mod to flat mount it works when travelling just on the Roam option.

How much is it in Spain now?
it recently reduced to 70€ . before it was 90 € ,if I remember correctly, plus another 9€ government tax charge allowing starlink to access the internet system. that has been removed now.

I thought I read along with the price rise in the states they were going to charge extra for in-motion?

its not officially supported but it does work (y)
So, here's a question ....will it work just looking through one of the skylights when travelling ....

I might give it a go in a bit trying it through a skylight when not travelling, if I can find a skylight not under a bloody tree branch .....

If it works then, why not when travelling ..... ooooh vicar, youve made me all curious lol !

umm not sure on that as you would need to mount it so it of course doesn't move but if it can see the sky from said skylight and you could make it secure enough to be able to drive then i don't see why not. Essentially it's the same as what i have done aside from mine is just fixed to the roof without a pole :)

No clear view unfortunately. I tried it through the windscreen but no luck so set it up outside, rotated to the back if the van and picked up a signal, so perhaps it works but only if whatever you're pointing at is where it needs to point. A roof light that's got clear view if the sky might work, but I can't try that at the moment.

I did see a you tube video of someone setting their Dishy to point in a different direction than it was programmed to, so they could attach to a better signal. Something to check when I get home in a week or so.

I stowed and it seemed to work, boot up was faster tonight.

Although it didn't give me a chance to unstow, it did that itself. I connected everything and turned on but by the time I got to settings to unstow it had already done the deed.

So thanks all for the input.

There is no unstow as it does this as you have found itself on next power on, glad it's working (y)

The dishy dual psu suggests using a 48v router and powering it via the psu. Has anyone done this as I can't even find one?

Not sure that's correct as all the videos I have seen they are using 12v routers.

Touring around france and getting reallly used to this now, pull up, throw the starlink on the roof (I bought the magnetic feet), 3 min later 200mbits internet for all.

Can't argue with that

I have been doing the same re sharing with any UK vans close enough to us. We parked at Ghent a couple of nights ago and parked next to a couple of Aussies who had hired a van in Germany and were touring. Gave them a chance to catch up with people at home and download lots of info for their trip. They're finishing mainland Europe then popping over to the UK in about a month.
Still haven't decided on what I'm doing re fixing it permanently or semi permanently yet, but it's been a great test. Just wished I had sorted out the 12v mod out (it was all working great on 12v but I decided to change things just before we left !!)
Now at Delft campsite before getting the ferry back to Harwich tomorrow

Can't see the point of the 12v mod if you have an inverter. The savings are not worth it from the videos I have seen unless you want to use your own router of course then it is.

I have one on a static in north wales that I rent out and share it to my neighbour, in turn he looks after it / tidies when anyone comes and goes. winner.
May ask the other few neighbours if they want internet access £10 per month kerching lol
