Slide and slam the curse of PVCs

Wow!!!! are we that intolerant. I thought being away in a MH was very relaxing. Perhaps we should now ban PVCs because we don’t like any kind of noise. Are you the people who constantly walk across my pitch as a short cut. Come on people, why increase your blood pressure over something so trivial.

Lets not forget all those inconsiderate swines who insist on using their noisy diesel engines to drive on and off site.

If the door and the latch are set up correctly they can be closed relatively quietly.
Why don't you guy get your flipping doors sorted then you won't keep pissing people off.

Sorry for the rant but fed up with PVC door slammers who are inconsiderate to others around them.
Worst of the lot is white van man with a mattress in the back who's had a few beers.
Most pvc's have units built across the door.therefore no access to the back to pull it in. Then even when you do the soft closing does not fully make the central locking switch so when set the horn beeps.+the doors on mine only lock with the remote locking. one dodgy switch on a lock at the rear & the front can't be locked either.
Just as an aside, one idea is to maybe fit a pull handle on the inside of the door, then just close the door slowly till its almost shut and then 'pull' the rest in from the inside using the handle
As above .I do have one & a hole through the unit to access it if required.
I don't use external screens but internal so that I can exit the front which is what I usually do or can drive off with out worrying.

The noise of people talking ,drinking, music, burning fish & food ,tv's at high volume is why I never use sites or at least only use ones that do not allow noise.
When I stop I just want to sleep.

Lying in bed 6am, tent next door, little boy talking, his mum telling him to be quiet because everybody asleep, then the little boy shouting, wake up everybody it's time to get up. You have to smile

‘The sun blocked-out by non-pvc’s’………..how?
Well if i parked next to one in this i think the PVC Occupants would get mighty pissed off when their sunshine a views disappeared, but hay ho i doubt whether I could hear the door shutting. And would it bother me No

I am quite deaf and never notice these things but we were on one site in Wigan and in the morning my hubby looked half dead. He said that the pvc door in the van next door had been opened and closed all night with lots of noise and voices ALL night. The couple seemed quite nice so the next morning I asked them had there been a problem the night before to be told that their Dog had been taken poorly and had had sickness and diarrhoea, once seemingly empty and exhausted (about 2 am) the 2nd dog started with the same symptoms.

After that we just felt really sorry for them and they left soon after;)

It's not so much the noise the door makes, what I can't understand is why PVC owners have to go in and out of their van slamming the door every 15 min until the early hours of the morning, you don't get people in normal Motorhomes doing that.
No toilet?!

Trek to the toilet block at 2am!🤣🤣🤣

This is what I can't understand. Most users of PVCs know that their sliding door is noisy and can wake people up. So why do they not use one of the cab doors at night, which would alleviate the problem. Yes it may be a little more inconvenient, but surely just twisting one of the swivel seats a bit to get out and in is no real hardship?

One of my best was a quiet get together at our pitch.

We were in our motorhome in a convoy with family in another motorhome and a car. We were at Les Naiades in Port Grimaud. There were 16 of us altogether, over 2 pitches and the car group in a Static, all spread out over the site.

One late afternoon, one of the Polish neighbours (2 young males 2 females) walked straight across our pitch in-front of us to unplug his EHU as thunder could be heard in the distance. Anyway, early evening, just 6 of us sat chatting. The loud campsite discotheque could be heard in the background. At about 10:30, one of the blokes, popped his head out of the tent and shouted ......

"SHHHHH Vants go sleep". We laughed and carried on until around 11:15. Silence was requested after midnight anyway, despite the bar disco being on until 1am.

The Next morning, the polish group had moved their table from the opposite side of their pitch and put it up against our awning. Decided to get pissed at 7:30 am drinking Vodka and singing, clapping loud.

I had already visited our Belgium neighbours to apologise if we had kept them awake. One said they never heard anything over the loud campsite music.

I went over to the shower block and saw one of the blokes leaving. I thought! I will wait until he gets back. There was only me, my wife and my Daughters on our pitch.

When I got back, I walked onto their pitch and spoke to them...

"If you like, rather than us have a quiet get together tonight, there are 16 of us on they site. I can invite them all over and piss you right off. In the meantime get your F in Table and **** off over the other side where you were before. Any Questions as I know you all understand what I am saying".... "And whilst your at it, move your F in Rubbish that's been stinking for days".

None of them replied, I think it was shock and Within minutes, the table was moved and everything was quiet. They even took the rubbish when they went out.

It is very, very rare I challenge other campers, but it certainly worked and I felt better for it.

I don’t get this anti pvc attitude at all, I used to make as much noise when closing a Burstner coachbuilt door which needed a good slam. And what’s all this about having to go out at night to use a toilet, the majority of pvc conversions have all the facilities of a coach built or A class.

Sounds a bit rude to me.

Your quite right. Quiet poeple in a PCV don't make any more noise than arrogant, selfish and noisy coach or A class owners.

But if you have the volume turned right up watching war films you wont hear the wooshbangs!
Even better when you have a Hymer with the rear speakers embedded in the rear wall & the sound outside is louder than inside.

Mainly, I think, because of the smaller space in a pvc 'stuff' gets bunged in the cab area for the evening/night. Personally, I find it quite difficult getting up and down the high steps in and out of the cab! Its a long way down for my little legs.

Well, if you feel that strongly about it, perhaps you'd like to offer to set everyone's door closing mechanism up correctly for them, or pay for them to get it done? Amazing unwarranted outburst...as has been explained, (but obviously not to you,) the only way to get the door to latch correctly is to give it a good slam, regrettable as that might be, that is the fact of the matter, pure and simple.
Tarring all PVC owners with the same brush is disingenuous, to say the least - maybe all Hymer owners are knob heads, who knows?

How about a "whoosh bang" rally ? Those of us of the whoosh bang persuasion could have lots of fun with competitions as to who could open and close the door the most in a given time, who's diesel heating is the loudest etc :rofl::rofl: . Come on guys lighten up, live and let live.
