Run to the sun….

How you finding life there in a chair?

Is it any different/worse than Europe?

Off piste the roads and paths are dust and rubble/sand, but compacted enough for me to get by, just.

Paths are not worth bothering with as too many obstacles and uneven broken paving so I generally whizz on the roads and usually the cars give me room. In the tourist places there’s better paving but rarely dropped kerbs so again I’m on the roads and the kerbs average 12 inches. Do see a couple of disabled car parking spots but anyones in them. No disabled toilets or facilities whatsoever….

I wouldn’t recommend anyone who has mobility problems to come here at all… I’m lucky as I get where I want to go, sometimes with difficulty but I’ll get there…😆😎

Do you know what Garry, I’ve been thinking we’ve missed the “Golden age” of motorhoming, I fear we are too late to the party🥺🥺
At least we got to wild camp on the beach on the Camargue before they banned it.
And quite a few wild spots in Portugal.
I never have too much bother finding wild spots n beaches

It's the fecking 90 day shite that causes me the most problems

Pretty much what I thought it would be like from my experience there. I would think you need to be the “right sort of person” to deal with being in a chair there. Which you clearly are. I’m pleased you are enjoying your experience and providing so much information for others. Its very generous of you. 👍🏻

Just reminded myself, get lots of blatant stares and looks and usually don’t bother me, especially the kids but today while Cintia went into the water a bloke came and stood right next to me and couldn’t take his eyes of my legs and moving around to get a better look, I said alright mate… and he still continued so I pulled my shorts up and gave him an eyeful of my stump and said would you like this up your ass…😆 and he bent over to get a closer look..👀🤣🤪

It was then I noticed 3 younger Moroccans leaning on a wall laughing there heads off at the situation…☺️

Might have changed a bit though...it certainly has in the 2 years since I was here last.

Back to Greece for me next year....and I might look in to thon French visa .

Like I’ve said before if I come back to Morocco it will be because of the warmth and dryness, although my arthritis does hurt a little mainly because I’m pushing around a lot it hasn’t swelled up and the awful pain and stiffness I get if I were to stay in Cornwall over winter…

By the time I’ve finished my 3 months here I’ll soon know the place I’d want to be and head straight for it and stay put …

Ady he’s not even close to selling it🥴 I had an inkling of going and I thought I’ll digest all Gary and Tam tell me but I’ve made up my mind I’ll stick with Spain and only have 90 days👍PS I did go late 70s I thought it might be better now.
One thing about Gary's post are they are so relatable.
Some others one reads are all wine and roses, everything is perfect.
Well, after folling this thread and another long one recently Morocco has been struck off my list.
In any case it looks too much like Fujeriah, Khor Fakkan, Ras-Al-Khaima, Dibba 30 years ago that we did to death.
The places mentioned by the way are now clean and tidy.
Sorry Garry.

Will visit but not for too long, too hot for me..🥵☀️
Pick the right spot and you can have the climate you want - just stay away from the famous and busy places. I've lived in Sao Paulo, Mato Grosso and Rio Grande do Sul. Some of the best years were living in the middle of nowhere.

I’m glad I’m doing Morocco now, wish I had done it years ago just like I wish I started van life earlier as I’m sure Morocco will end up like Spain, vans banned on sea fronts. See loads of new construction on the seafronts of these towns and a new generation moving to them and won’t want to see people emptying their cassettes on the beach…🤔
Morocco is massively different to our first visit only 12 years ago. Tanger Med used to be utter chaos, touts everywhere, all the vans were in the same place and you had to elbow your way to the booths and shout to be heard. Nothing like it is today.

If it was your first trip then you had to find the police office and get your driving licence approved.

When you imported the Mh they gave you a slip of paper and if you didnt still have it then you had a massive problem getting your Mh back out.

The roads were generally much worse, the A1 had a big gap around Rabat, where for several years you bounced across rough ground to get back on and it stoppped at El Jadida. Nothing like it is today.

No Carrefours, no burger kings, McD apart from Agadir. We even saw a Hyper U in Casablanca. On the plus side you could still buy booze in Marjane and you could stop almost anywhere for 10dh.

Its been fascinating to watch Morocco develop, and its clearly still happening. So what if its a bit more expensive these days - Its still the most interesting place we go to by Mh.

2 trips ago (2023) I looked at new build properties just outside Essaouira, ocean views & lovely location with a view to buying something, but then remembered I had a place in Ibiza for a few years I felt I had to go to it every holiday because I'd invested in it which tied me to only really going to Ibiza to justify the cost, so I decided against it even though they were at bargain prices, for me the motorhome option is still the best, go away for as long or as short as you want and different views & locations every day if you like 🙂

Aye I couldn't stay in one place for weeks or months on end it'd bore me to tears.
It's the same with static caravans .. I've just never seen the appeal

We were the same with our French holiday home, we got to the point where we were going back to the same places time after time and spending more time weeding and painting than relaxing. It also not as sociable because people dont tend to sit out where passers by can chat. Although it more difficult now more UK people have foreign registrations.

following Northernraider remarks about Greece, Ive just checked what Crete weather is doing ( being furthest south) and its OK but not as nice as here and not quite warm enough to lie on the beach so what would you do?

Yes i can imagine. My feelings are coming from where we lived for so long, that been there done that.
I think you're probably right, having been to Jordan, Dubai and Egypt. I would say that the main difference with Morocco is its more accessible by Mh and because its been so, facilities have devloped to accommodate them. But you're not going to find a full service pitch and have a G&t by the pool quite yet.

French stick, 2 pain au chocolate & a big bap for my ferrari soup, cost 4 MAD or 0.33p sterling €0.39cents Euro and that's probably tourists prices cos I'm a big white Paddy dandering about!

Wind picked up in the night and still going for a day or two, everything packed away as some people didn’t and wandering round the site trying to find there stuff…
Can’t sit in the van as it’s too hot and didn’t sleep much last night as it was warm … sat on the front cafe having my mint tea…
It’s a right desert sand storm although these pics won’t show it…
