I went passed yesterday afternoon and the Cairnryan PO ferry looked like it wasn’t going anywhere for a while but not sure about today?Anyone know if the ferries are moving again yet?

That's a common misconception. If that was the case there would have been no state pensions when the welfare state was introduced until people had paid enough in for their pot to fund a pension so no full state pension until the 1980,sI always thought my ni payments were for my state pension and the tax i paid was to help run the country?
It's also the earnings required to obtain a work visa for the UK. Other than no criminal record it is the only criteria. Not sure what you mean by “immigration unchecked “ but the figure you quoted is the current national living wage for people aged 23 plus
I always thought my road fund licence was for constructing and maintaining roads.I always thought my ni payments were for my state pension and the tax i paid was to help run the country?
Not true - BA crew can handcuff passengers... and have been able to for quite awhile.no or anywhere else.
Do you have inside knowledge? If not, why stir the pot?Which makes it all the more likely that Boris had discussed it with the big boss on his UAE trip. Although I'm not sure what deal could have been made as it seems BJ came away from that meeting with his begging bowl still empty.
I'm not stirring, it's a perfectly valid query.Do you have inside knowledge? If not, why stir the pot?
Wishful thinking on your part, for something that has clearly been planned and organised probably for months beforehandWhich makes it all the more likely that Boris had discussed it with the big boss on his UAE trip. No, of course not.I'm not stirring, it's a perfectly valid query.
Discussing it and planning it are 2 totally different things. Do you not think it came up in conversation at all?Wishful thinking on your part, for something that has clearly been planned and organised probably for months beforehand
It's only a discussion I don't see how any comments I've made could be classed as stirring. No, of course not.
Always stirring it about B or B, shame the 2014 referendum didn’t go the other wayDo you have inside knowledge? If not, why stir the pot?
Now you just sound paranoid.Always stirring it about B or B, shame the 2014 referendum didn’t go the other way
I will join your club and not use / book any P&O service again.I had a ferry booked for May.Hull to Europort.I have cancelled it and will never travel with them again. The treatment of these people is beyond contempt.
different situation same as boats at sea.captain is in charge. try doing it on landNot true - BA crew can handcuff passengers... and have been able to for quite awhile.
Yes, I’m sure. Usually bigger corporations wait until year end, see what the profits are then vote dividends. However, dividends can be voted and paid at anytime during the accounting year. Are you sure, see post #266 from John Barrett which is what I thought applied, like I said, I am not an accountant but when I did the books for my Marine Consultancy that is what I would go by to pay dividends to my staff
Planning….. you believe what you want to believe. I have carried out an almost identical exercise involving 40 staff and it took months and was cast in stone about 3 months before the eventDiscussing it and planning it are 2 totally different things. Sounds like you were involved in the planning of your exercise. I am wondering about the discussion side of things. 2 different things as I have already said.Planning….. you believe what you want to believe. As part of a Duracell development ( ) team it took us nearly year to close the Daimon battery factory in Cologne; individual staff interviews, appointment and funding of financial advisors for staff, negotiations with the Unions, Workers' Councils, tax authority, city planning authority.......Planning….. you believe what you want to believe. Yes, it was discussed with nobody outside the planning people. Nobody at all. Information security was crucial. you do not “discuss” with anyone. And no, I am not proud of it but it was a necessary action for a loss making business.Sounds like you were involved in the planning of your exercise. In the Mid East we could do pretty much as we wanted provided we followed the labour laws which applied what ever the reason for termination ( I hated having to compensate someone who I fired for lamping someone) so it was a bit easier. Still took months to organise and make sure that nobody got wind of it….only the EVP for the region in head office knewAs part of a Duracell development ( ) team it took us nearly year to close the Daimon battery factory in Cologne; individual staff interviews, appointment and funding of financial advisors for staff, negotiations with the Unions, Workers' Councils, tax authority, city planning authority.......
It took only 6 weeks to close the Superpila battery factory in Florence.
That's all great but the sacking of 800 people in the P&O case was discussed with others meaning the government knew it was to happen before BJ had a meeting with the head honchos in the UAE. It wouldn't be madness to suggest then, that it may have came up in conversation.Yes, it was discussed with nobody outside the planning people. Nobody at all. That is all I am saying. No Boris bashing or stirring as others have suggested.
Yes.Can a private security firm handcuff someone on a boat in a British port?
Thanks for letting us know it doesn't interest you.I have to say that it isn't of any interest to me whether BJ discussed it or not.
It is what it is.
'Us' is a little presumptuous, don't you think? Thanks for letting us know it doesn't interest you.
Good to have you back John'Us' is a little presumptuous, don't you think?
