OUR REGRET OF GOING TO THE NEC GOE'S ON,AND GETS WORSE

Hi all, I have been waiting for Burstner and Timberland to get in touch, Burstner say they are sending 3 personal over from Germany to fix the problem, Timberland say 3 people coming from Germany to show and help them repair it, This is going to happen 5th June, Timberland are coming to collect it before then. I asked Timberland, if the ripple affect on the drivers side panel will be fixed, I was told all the Vans have the this Ripple affect,

It would be nice to see some before and after pictures in case other folks vans have similar problems.(y)(y)(y)

We brought a Burstner in Sept 2017 a the NEC, Collected it in Sept. 2018 after much trouble, In Feb.2019
we received a letter from Burstner reading quote '' Dear Sir You are the owner of a Burstner, ,Due to severe damage reports concerning this product, We have discovered that the connection between sidewall and chassis presents a weakness in material, It is possible that the Dashboard will come loose, and flap up and block your view, Further more the inner cases can tear, and fall off. In your own interest we ask you to stand back from further Journeys, '' unquote, I rang Timberland The same Day, ''They said they know nothing about the recall and would check it out,'' I Emailed Burstner, "they called the day after and said contact Tmberland or Camper Uk, It is Now May, and after 6 Ignored Emails I sent to Burstner, Timberland are saying they have never come across this problem, and will need Burstner to send someone to show them what to do, Camper UK say they cannot look at it for 12 Months or more, We Are now stuck with Motorhome, we look at ! and dare not use. We have Lost and cancelled all our days out, we both have had many sleepless nights, We do not know what to do, We have not got loads of money to spend on Solicitors IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE WHO CAN HELP US PLEASE,

Sorry!, But I think it is a case of "you've been `ad". I know April 1st is past. but that sounds like a sick joke?. Do you know any Bremainers?"

For what though, can't see he's got anything out of it.

I suspect he's got 'buyers remorse' and his first thread was less than helpful in providing the support he thought was due...
...thus this thread was started in the mistaken belief we'd all jump to his defence and he could 'use' the forum to bolster his claim to reject under fit for purpose.

Sadly for him, this seems to have backfired, due to the lack of 'evidence'.

If I'm mistaken, I'll gladly apologise.

Burstner say they are sending 3 personal over from Germany to fix the problem, .....
Three? From Germany..........
If that's correct I'm truly impressed. On that level of service I may well consider a Burstner when I change. It must be a major/serious issue to need three factory engineers.
On the other hand I may pass the time going to a porcine aeronautical show (eating my cynical words for lunch perhaps ).

Surely that’s not the end of the thread ?

I’ve just been to the shop to get more popcorn!

?
Another knock at Burstner? I haven’t seen any with ripple effect and we looked at lots of new and nearly new Burstners before we bought ours...

Maybe the op has genuine story, after all he hasn’t said if he has noticed anything wrong with the van, just the letter telling him something is wrong with it...... maybe he doesn’t like to put too much on here until it’s resolved......

This is bizarre in the extreme. One would suspect strongly that this is a vexatious scam by someone with a grudge against Burstner but if so, surely Burstner would by now have formally disowned the letter. You need to make positive contact with someone in authority at the factory to confirm the authenticity of the letter. If your worst fears are proven and there is indeed a serious recall, I would find a solicitor specialising in consumer rights. Some do a No Win No Fee basis and if they take it on, you can assume you have a reasonable chance of success as they wouldn’t otherwise take it on.

If you read the OP's later replies you will see that he has made contact with Burstner and they have confirmed its authenticity and are sending over 3 people to help the dealer sort it out. I am struggling to understand why people will not take that statement at face value and wait and see the outcome.

Its true a mate of mine had the Burstner tech team fly over earleir this year, about the start of April...he sent me a photo...

It does seem poor practice that Burstner hadn't notified and trained their agents/distributors Europe-wide on how to carry out the repair before notifying/scaring owners of a serious/dangerous problem, unless it's only the OP's vehicle that's affected.

My favourite Thunderbird 2 accessory, the mole, I am off to buy a defective burstner, so international rescue land in my garden

We had a letter looked very official, regarding our van parked on our driveway. The letter advising us that vans are not allowed within the estate. We initially panicked, but after reading and re-reading it, saw the flaws. The heading on close inspection had been photocopied onto plain paper, it looked real, but not when looking closer. Then the way it was written, just not “quite” right.
We ignored it, nothing came of it. It must have been a nasty jealous neighbour, we had our suspicions.

On the contrary he's been complaining about this van ever since he bought it (see his other threads) now he has come up with another fault, rippeling, it all just seems so strange.

I think it all sounds implausible.

I cannot imagine any company flying over three of their people to remedy a fault on one single vehicle. If the OP isn't just spinning a yarn and there is a recall he can't be the only person to have the make and model with the 'faults'.

If there was a recall the company would send out information to dealerships outlining said faults and the procedure to rectify it.
