Ninja Foodi, "Thread".......

Beef final:

Perhaps a little more 'medium' than would be my choice.
But very tender and very tasty.

Temperature went up by 1° over the hour resting, so continued to cook.

Overall, lost about 25% of uncooked weight.
Looks good and the fact it's tender is an excellent result. Like you I prefer rarer but we all need to learn how our cookers of whatever sort perform. I don't have an integral probe but just pop up the lid and take a look and use my independent digital probe to do a temp check. I did a rolled shoulder of lamb the other day and that was more cooked than I would have liked after resting. I reckon the steam airfry setting cooks deeper into the meat than a conventional oven does so I am reducing times to get the rarer end result.
Still very impressed with it nevertheless.

Looks delish but as you can see, it is worth going “under” for timing. My duck :Eeek: tonight was done for less than the guide but was still a bit over. Lessons on board for next time though. That looks good(y)(y)

Edit: as per dash300 above. Same conclusion.

Ninja is still a great bit of kit though

Our Ninja Foodie Max arrived on Friday morning
Like Kate said earlier bigger than I imagined
Friday we had salmon fillets with new potatoes, asparagus and courgettes all steam roasted. I should have put the asparagus in for less time.
Saturday beef stew and dumpling, stew in the pressure cooker and dumplings on steam. The meat melted and dumplings were light and fluffy.
Sunday roast chicken and Parmesan chips. Chicken a little over done for our taste but very tasty chips a little underdone.
A great piece of kit that I just need to keep away from DD mitts.

Very impressed with our Ninja 14 in 1 , it does have the steam roast function which is brilliant for chicken. (The 15 in 1 adds the temperature probe) sausages are brilliant, very quick and soft skins.

Just ordered the 7-1 now need to completely rearrange the kitchen to find a home for it 🙈😬

Well I succumbed and ordered the 550 6 litre one and it arrived yesterday. Haven’t taken it out yet but will do that today. It’ll save heating the big oven for two salmon fillets or one tray of oven chips. We’re all electric but use lpg cooker/oven during power cuts and have continued to use it for baked tatties as they’re so much better by gas so it’ll be interesting to try them in the ninja.

Try your salmon fillets in a microwave, place them in a microwaveable tub with lid, smear over a spoonful of butter between both fillets.and microwave at 800w for 3 mins, then for a further 30 secs to 1 min.checking after the 30 secs.(y)

What a superb bit of kit.... Supposed to be able to take it camping and in an RV/Motorhome....

But a bit too big and HEAVY for that...

It does what it say`s on the label, and more...

My first attempt at cooking a meal in under 20 mins and only one pot to wash up.. (Had to do pea`s in microwave as I forgot to put them in...

I have even cooked sponge cake and other things..... It`s so easy... (Once you get used to it..):giggler:

Anyone else got one or got any tips..????
Yes it’s amazing and I did take it away. Needed awning though so it’s better for a ‘longer’ stay. Tip:I use foil in to catch fat drips. Belly pork. Bacon are amazing

Update~our 11 in 1 is all parcelled up and going back. Don’t know if we had a faulty one or some other problem. Did a chicken, the right weight etc. followed the recipe. Skin burnt and chicken pure raw in the middle. The thing absolutely stinks even after 4 cleaning programmes. Got it from Amazon so returning no problem.

Mine still impressing. I agree however that Ninja guidance does tend to emphasise too higher temperature on alot of their guidance.
After a bit of practise I have now got a feel for what works best. Haven't used the oven for the past 3 weeks since it arrived. Haven't needed to clean anything apart from the container basket and rack. I haven't however used the Pressure cook settings yet.

Because of soaring Russian gas prices and trying to restrict it's use, I have just ordered the, much cheaper,

6 -1 CleverchefPro 4.6ltr @ £87.98 (nextday delivery) just as a comparison (it has nothing to do with me being tight careful):giggle:

It seems to do most of what the Ninja will do, plus it has a 24hr timer (not sure if the Ninja has?) which means I can set it before going away for the day?

The only thing that concerns me is the 1000w but, once again, I think Ninja has similar? I have to take it away locally and give it a try.

If that does not work, it's batch cooking at home and then into the Campervans freezer.

Eat well! (y)

I’m currently looking at air fryers instead. I’d like a non Chinese made one so very limited.

Has anyone tried to use their Ninja in their motorhome? I’m worried about blowing the electrics if I use mine on board!

Should be OK, think ours was about 1400w so 6 amps. They take a lot of room up though and are quite heavy.

Hi, Thanks for the reply, I have recently bought the Compact Ninja Foodi which has a wattage rating of 1460. I think I will probably trip most sites electric circuit (at Worse) or significantly affect my neighbours power, when sharing an electric hook up.

I have a Cosori Airfryer and it works very well on my inverter !

Best thing I've ever bought. Pressure cooker is a game changer - so much easier than the old hob ones. Has everything you need in one pot. Have to say I haven't used dehydrate function yet

That's also a game changer for joints of meat...
Sounds counter intuitive but technically its ultra slow cooking.
Based on a Heston Blumenthal process.

Preset is 6h at 60°c but this is fully adjustable. This is for any size of joint.
Then airfry for up to 10 mins depending on your preference rare/medium.
Then wrap in double foil, and then a tea towel for an hour to rest.

Believe me, it works brilliantly.

I’ve got the XL, it’s the one with the temperature probe it’s brilliant, select your meat and how you want it cooked stick in the probe and off you go all automatic. When cooking chicken I spatchcock it otherwise the chicken just touches the in lid filter. I’ve had great results with chicken, pork, gammon but not so good with beef usual a bit tough, even cooking it on Dehydrate for 6 hours, probably need to buy a better cut of meat. Roast potatoes, parsnips, peppers onions chips all come out spot on and in half the time of a conventional oven. As mentioned above there’s a Ninja Facebook group where lots of recipes and tips are shared.👍
How do you do your chips Gooney? Mine turn out tasty but not crispy. I have the XL.

To be honest with you we like the Iceland hash brown chips, put your still frozen portion size on Air Fry and turn them after about 3 or 4 mins carry on cooking for another 3 or 4 mins and you’ll find them done nice and crispy

Will give that a try sometime. No Iceland near us but might try other frozen chips. So far we’ve just made our own.

Hot dogs are my latest fav in the Ninja….I’m supposed to be losing weight but I’m full to the brim with hot dogs 🌭

Yorkshires are great in the Ninja, so is slow cooked brisket to go with it👍 Rarely use the oven now, it’s that versatile. Got a smaller one for the van as well.
Same here, oven very rarely used now, between Instant Pot & Ninja grill. Just use one ring for all veg too, just add the greens last. Meter reading for May about 150 units less than April’s usage. What a saving.
