Ninja Foodi, "Thread".......

I now have one thanks to the Black Friday deal from Curry’s. Last night I cooked a couple of pork loin steaks in just 11 minutes. Tonight I chose a recipe from the internet of baked Cajun vegetables and salmon - it was delicious and so moist, even if I had been a bit heavy handed with the Cajun spice!! I have bought a recipe book but imho its not brilliant - very Americanised! I’ll just continue searching the internet for recipes 🤞

I don’t have a Foodi but I do have an Instant mini vortex air fryer and a small Instant Pot pressure cooker - both small and light enough to keep in the MH. I also have the 6litre Instant Pot combined pressure cooker and air fryer (two separate lids) in the house AND so impressed with air fryers that have finally (yesterday) got my hands on a Ninja Dual drawer air fryer for the kitchen. I probably would have bought the Foodi had I not already had the other stuff. Beef Bourguignon in the pressure cooker is amazing!

Yep great bit of kit. we have both but the smaller one lives in the motorhome. easier to move around and fits under the bed locker !

This one is geared more towards the U.K. market. Still not brilliant but at least the measures are metric rather than cups, etc.

What a superb bit of kit.... Supposed to be able to take it camping and in an RV/Motorhome....

But a bit too big and HEAVY for that...

It does what it say`s on the label, and more...

My first attempt at cooking a meal in under 20 mins and only one pot to wash up.. (Had to do pea`s in microwave as I forgot to put them in...

I have even cooked sponge cake and other things..... It`s so easy... (Once you get used to it..):giggler:

Anyone else got one or got any tips..????
Bought a similar item - blew the post first time we used it - on 6 amps in Spain - so got a 1kw version for the moho - works beautifully as we have no oven in our Hymer.

I would have thought cooking Beef on dehydrate for 6 hours would make it tough but I haven't use mine yet so perhaps dehydrate means something different.
I would think the same - dehydrate (remove Juices!)

In Ninja language it means Ultra Slow Cooking [as championed by Heston Blumenthal]

60º for 6 hours IIRC

It cooks and stays moist because it's done in a sealed Ninja
When dehydrating beef to make jerky the moisture is allowed to escape

I’ve never cooked a decent roast in my life but with the 15 in 1 I shoved the probe in the meat had the gravy in the bottom and just threw the veg in and steam roasted….came out great, all in one pot, one thing to wash up…now I cook loads of things with it

I even did a cauliflower cheese soup (I’ve never cooked soup before…25 mins from getting ingredients out to serving up, brilliant!

Just a matter of spending a bit of time getting used to and experimenting with them. 👍

I found that between the recipe booklet that came with it and their own cooking circle website there was enough info for me to cook anything just by comparing similar food types. Roasts on “steam roast” are really easy but the probe is a real game changer for me, stick the probe in and use the preset and bobs your uncle.

After seeing Ambilkate Ninjas in action I was really impressed and bought a Ninja Af160UK I am so pleased with it, I've been experimenting since I've had it I've made cakes muffins bread and butter pudding and lots of other experiments one of my favourites is a foil tray, chop tomatoes up salt and pepper good olive oil pop in air fryer until they look roasted the skins pop off and they're so tasty served with anything.

Mmm will definitely try those tomatoes Carol they sound lovely . Those puds & cake look scrumptious 💕 I'm frightened to cook cakes &puds at min as I'm having to be on a low carbs diet again .
Loving my mushroom and bacon omelettes though they are so filling and so easy to make in my duel ninja carb free 🤗👍 x

Yes, as you say, that probe equates to no brainer cooking for meats imo..a brilliant addition 👍

First time today of trying a joint of silverside beef using the dehydrate mode/method in our 15 in 1 Ninja Foodi. Meat was lovely and juicy and tender, and just the right amount of pinkness for us. Spuds were also delicious. Dehydrated beef for 6hrs, topped off with 6m on AF..3 mins per side. Double wrapped in foil, and a tea towel on top, and let rest for an hour. Great result, and will definitely be using this method again.

Today, a three pound chicken in Ninja pressure cooker for just 20 minutes. Let it rest while I browned off the microwaved potato skin- on segments. Returned the chicken to Ninja for 15 minutes on 200C to brown off, and threw in the potatoes for a few minutes more. Made the gravy from the juices from the pressure cooking. Delicious!

My son made Mac & Cheese in the foodie I gifted him and it looked pretty bland so I invented my own Mac & Rarebit in my foodie and it was delicious…

Having listened to how good Air Fryers were, I bit the bullet and ordered a Ninja AF3000 Dual Cook Air fryer, which arrived yesterday, and is now sat on the worktop ready to use.
However I wish I had seen this thread before purchasing, I have now looked at the recipe's and what can/cant be cooked in an air fryer in greater depth, and this model is not for me.
The AF300 is going back in its box and returned to Amazon, the "baskets" are too small to cook a whole chicken only portions, I would find it easier to cook a decent ragout for a spag bol or chilli con on the gas hob, as I can add ingredients at the appropriate time, caramelise onions whilst preparing the other ingredients .i.e chopping garlic & fresh ginger. It seems the most popular meals for the air fryers are chips, jacket spuds, frozen portions of various things, which to be honest we don't buy a lot of.
The Ninja Foodie 15-1 7.5 ltr is a different piece of kit though as its a pressure cooker, roaster & steamer, so that would be the one I would go for next, but its too heavy for the van, and costs £100 more than the AF300 which is massive and weighs in at 8.5kgs!
I think I will stick to using my conventional cooking methods & utensils, like a saucepan to make soups, a Tefal large Sauté pan for searing all meats including minced meat, fish, fry ups & casseroles.
If served seperately, I tend to steam as much veg as I can to get more flavour and texture just right, like carrots take a little longer than Broccoli, so I add the veg to the steamer in order of cooking times.

In the van I use the Remoska Oven (if on hook up), or to steam things, I use a large S/Steel veg Colander sat on top of a large saucepan with an inch of boiling water, the glass saucepan lid fits perfectly, all veg done in 5/8 minutes.

Warming pies & or cooking raw meat joints that wont fit in the "Large" Ninja AF300, will be done as usual in The Remoska Oven, along with jacket spuds, whole chicken, beef or lamb joints also.

So it looks like not a lot will change in the van, or at home, Gas hob top method, Remoska Oven, or van oven on gas as last resort, before I get a larger Lithium Battery & Inverter set up to use The Remoska, maybe a Ninja Foodie 15-1 sat in the van garage at a later date.

Cooking is a discovery of flavour and honing skills it should be Fun to do, I hope I can keep it that way, its just the washing up I need a Ninja for.:giggle:
so Bon Appetit folks.
