My Worst Fear - We've Broken Down :(

Good to hear that you are both OK, the vehicle is fixed and at the expense of a simple repair, a horrendous night amongst the trucks and a nerve wracking 24hrs it all ended well.
Moral of story, if possible service your vehicle yourself or at least learn enough to check what the so called experts have or haven't done!

Unfortunately, neither of us are mechanically minded or even confident enough to want to try. In the UK, we had a friend who owned a garage and he took care of all our vehicles. Now we're in France, we're restarting our network of people. An English mobile mechanic we found (who had a legimate, registered business and came well recommended) did the service for us, which meant a small wait while he ordered the tool he needed for the filter, so I'm fairly confident he did it correctly. Unfortunately, he's no longer trading (family crisis, I think). So, doing the service ourselves isn't really an option, I'm afraid :(

Its very nice to read a thread that starts with a problem that is happily resolved, the OP appears in a much better state than when they started, comments are helpful, doesnt go on for ever, doesn't get (too) sidetracked and we still have time for lunch.
What could be better?

Well said :) I'm chuffed to bits to be part of this forum. I've (almost) always received excellent, grounded and helpful advice and am super grateful, which is why I paid for the Lifetime Membership :) A huge part, for me, is getting the emotional support as well as the practical support. I know, for some, that means nothing but, for me, it's a big deal and I really appreciate it :) xx

as a slight aside, I recently watched a video by a lorry driver who had a freezer trailer. He said the drivers put the compressors on continuous running over night so that a) to them it becomes background and ignorable and b) if anyone else sneaks up and turns their fridge off during the night they will quickly notice the lack of noise and be able to restart it. A driver with a fridge trailer that has defrosted can be in serious trouble.

Why the trailer compressors are allowed to be so noisy when diesel engines can be very quiet is a different question.

That's unfortunate but I do understand.

I'm lucky in that I have been involved with both mechanical and electrical things for the vast majority of my seventy three years. A telecommunications engineer for over fifty five of them and always maintained my own vehicles (and those of others) plus having built five campers on new base vehicles.
Now enjoying the sun, scenery and wine in southern Germany whilst waiting for a new MAN TGE to be delivered.

DavidG58 thanks for updating I have no idea why just those two posts are missing? They still are must be a glitch with my set up I suppose? Never happened before🤔
Really odd I can find the posts in the search menu but when I try to load it says it can’t be found🤔
I’m missing #59 and #60 on my IPad also

FURTHER UPDATE:

We are now at our friend's carp fishery and enjoying a lovely break, with great weather and great company :)

The cost for our repair was €375. The garage, who pulled out all the stops for us and who were incredibly helpful and friendly, was Jean Rouyer Automobiles, Ital Auto 49, 10 Boulevard de Liberte, Angers ( https://www.jeanrouyerautomobiles.fr/ ) https://www.google.com/maps/search/...ance/@47.4490437,-0.5352709,17z/data=!3m1!4b1 They did our repair while we sat in the Moho enjoying cakes from the local Boulangerie :)

I hope this information helps anyone else who may need assistance in the area :)

Thank you again, everyone, for your help and support. I truly appreciate it all xx

Ooh, your ‘friends Carp Fishery’ has definitely pricked my interest as a VERY keen French carp angler. Please do tell me more! 👍🏻

I'll tell you one more time Chaz. I'll type it really slowly for you. :D If someone ignores you, you don't see their posts (y)
So why are they ignoring other folks and why aren't they ignoring us in the op?
I'm not worried about being ignored but think there is something in the posts that is wrong.

You see OP's no matter what otherwise you'd miss whole threads. So if someone ignore you, you will see a thread they start but no other posts, same goes for threads you start.

You are getting paranoid Chaser

I'm not worried about this, I was just trying to point out that there seems to be a problem somewhere as so many people were having the same problem , I have never had any contact with the op so why they would be ignoring anyone is a mystery.

I gave them a hug 😥...I wonder what I did wrong to be ignored? 🤷‍♂️

I‘ve never had contact with them either, what have I done to upset them?

chaser I picked up that something was amiss, so did some searching. Turns out we did have brief contact in this thread https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/travel-mapping-online-anyone.260371/#post-4978418 However, there was nothing in there for me to ignore you over, so it must have been a mistake. As for anyone else on my ignore list, it's hard to tell what the reason is without a lot of effort, searching through many posts. I hope this helps solve the mystery :)

Thanks for that mate, in fact it wasn't me that first said they had the posts missing, after seeing someone else say they couldn't see them I went back to see if I could see them and couldn't, so as it was happening to more people I thought that maybe there was something wrong with either the forum or our phones and asked why, that's all .
Anyway thanks for clearing it up. (y) :giggle:

Mine on previous mh failed not long after I got the professionals to change the element. In hindsight in the the X250 you might as well just change the whole thing £50 off ebay and have the peace of mind.

We’re exactly the same as you, totally useless where anything practical is concerned. It often makes me smile when a post starts with “ anyone could do this with basic diy skills”, it really makes so many assumptions.
I then reassure myself by thinking about all the things that I can do or have done that I think are easy but most people on here couldn’t do and it does help!

A lot of us on the thread have obviously been ignored by HKF, goodness knows why as I haven’t even posted a comment!
Think they must be pressing the wrong buttons!!!
