My Worst Fear - We've Broken Down :(

A lot of us on the thread have obviously been ignored by HKF, goodness knows why as I haven’t even posted a comment!
Think they must be pressing the wrong buttons!!!
That's right , and I was only trying to point out that there was something wrong but got shot down for being paranoid when in fact it has helped the op find that he has ignored folks by mistake.

Mine on previous mh failed not long after I got the professionals to change the element. In hindsight in the the X250 you might as well just change the whole thing £50 off ebay and have the peace of mind.

Did ours myself, tightened with a torque wrench with the proper tool and it's been fine. Was about 2,500 miles ago.
The problem arises when the 'professionals' fit it 🙄😊

Thanks for that mate, in fact it wasn't me that first said they had the posts missing, after seeing someone else say they couldn't see them I went back to see if I could see them and couldn't, so as it was happening to more people I thought that maybe there was something wrong with either the forum or our phones and asked why, that's all .
Anyway thanks for clearing it up. (y) :giggle:

No probs : ) xx

So, for a complete novice with engines, is this something I could do myself, please? I don't mind having a go as long as I have VERY CLEAR instructions. I'm very logical and work slowly so that I can always go back through my steps if things go wrong or I'm not confident in doing whatever it is. Do you think I could do this? If so, what do I need to buy and what tools will I need before I begin, please?

'He'?? Hmph!! I'll have you know I'm a girl!! 100 lines for you, I'm afraid...."Being assumptive may get me back on the Ignore list" Hahahahahaha!!!! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Yes, if you buy the filter complete with housing. You just Unclip the fuel pipes and lift it off the bracket.
10 min on a standard cab but a lot longer on an A Class due to access.

It is simple plug unplug, a bit room limited, unless you remove headlight, which I don’t bother with. But in truth you probably don’t need to change your fuel filter now for ages, possibly 5 years. Unless you fill up with bad stuff or get problems.

I did manage to tighten the nut on the mirror on my electric bike whilst at the Ashbourne rally with some sort of spanner thing. I don’t know what a torque wrench is, I am also female, do I have the necessary skills? Answers on a postcard…..

Here's a 10 minutes video that shows it taking .......10 minutes. Its not the worlds best technique as Im pretty sure there's a drain plug on the bottom of it but simple enough.

Ooh am I sad I know what a torque wrench is and have used one, a while ago admittedly, have also in my dim and distant past paertly stripped and rebuilt a ford engine and did my own servicing, oh how /i wanted to be a mechanic, how come i ended up as a nurse😂

I thought the reverse
I did see the light and got away from the tools after a while though.

Despite the hourly rate you pay to have a vehicle in a garage a mechanic is one of the lower payed trades.

You know very well what your skills are Carolyn.

I bet I’m not the only one that smiles when your name is included in a list of ralliers.

We love the company of Nick and yourself, but there is usually at least one Funster that knocks on your door for a consultation….

Oh and well done on fixing your mirror!

I think I might have opened myself up to a very rude reply or two, I think Jimbohorlicks must be asleep!

A lot of people get ignored by fat fingers some don’t even know they are ignoring people by accidentally pressing the
chaser I picked up that something was amiss, so did some searching. Turns out we did have brief contact in this thread https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/travel-mapping-online-anyone.260371/#post-4978418 However, there was nothing in there for me to ignore you over, so it must have been a mistake. As for anyone else on my ignore list, it's hard to tell what the reason is without a lot of effort, searching through many posts. I hope this helps solve the mystery :)
I started off with a few people on ignore but, after a while, couldn’t remember why they were on it so I now have an ignore list of 0.
Even those whose comments I prefer to ignore have interesting views on other subjects. Sometimes I do ignore a thread though 😉.

I have been known to stand outside my van with a screwdriver in hand waiting for a knight in shining army to offer their help.

Nothing wrong with that, in my opinion 😉

Well, I don't think we could've picked a noisier place to break down!! At first it seemed rather quiet, with just the odd lorry going by. Come 1am, it was like a free for all with truck after truck going by and others pulling in, making a racket and pulling off again. One truck even had a rather noisy Deliveroo delivery!! Then, at around 2am, it sounded like another truck pulled in but failed to turn his engine off. Said engine has been running all night and still is....at 6am!!! I have yet to venture out of bed to see what it is, as hubby is still asleep and I don't want to disturb him. Roll on 8am when the recovery truck should arrive!!! :pray2:
We know this well, if we use an lorry park for a night I will guarantee a fridge van will park up at the side of us.

I agree, its usually a good idea to at least try and listen to the other points of view.

HKF Learn how to play the Uke on Fun, then you’ll know what sarcastic and rude is!

Happily, the other side of that is that we are so cool and laid back we let the comments go right over our heads, don’t we Janine!
