My Worst Fear - We've Broken Down :(

Hi again , we've broken down twice over there , sorted both times very quickly , the French don't do roadside repairs .you will be up and back on the road by lunchtime, by teatime you'll have relaxed and almost forgotten about it , don't worry it's never as bad as you think at the time , we all think the worst but at least noone is hurt and no serious engine blown or accident
Always look on the bright side !!
I know it's difficult .

Good morning,i hope the recovery are on time and you are soon sorted and you can carry on with your holiday, good luck🤞

My van was serviced for me when I bought it. Few hundred miles later diesel leak, and also checked the air filter. Pics say it all.

I had a suspicion that you would not sleep well when I saw the photo with the trucks parked around you.
The ones that are refrigerated keep running non-stop.
We once made the mistake of overnighting in a truck stop in Romania and vowed "never again".
Also, be careful when you get out of the motorhome. You never know where the drivers have been to the toilet.
Photos, what photos?🤷‍♂️

I can't see any updates! Are they ok?

Best of luck on getting it sorted

Hubby had a look at the filter this morning and it is loose and covered in diesel. I'm really hoping this is the problem and we get it fixed fast :)
Quite a common fault especially not long after a service.

I’m using safari on iPad post 59 60 not on the page🤔

Do they appear below?

Quoted location / photos and posts 59 & 60 👍

If they are here there should be 4 quotes 🤔

So, first of all, thank you SO much all of you for your lovely comments, reassurance and good wishes. We're all settled now, waiting for the recovery truck in the morning. It really does sound like the fuel filter, as the leak does seem to be coming from the back of the right hand side of the engine bay as you look at it from the front of the vehicle.

Here are some pics of our free stopover at the peage!!!:cool:

And here's where we are.....right where the 'P' for Parking is LOL How appropriate

We actually live in France. To be honest, I'd rather be in the UK and covered by the AA. We've already experienced the breakdown service in France with a different vehicle and it wasn't fun. Said vehicle is currently in the UK for repair after spending 7 MONTHS in the garage in France before they finally admitted they couldn't fix it!! This is why breaking down is my worst fear now :(

Thanks but No quotes I have also tried on my iPhone and posts #59-60 are both missing perhaps they have a security that my tablet and phone are blocking?🤔

I think they have been removed as you are unable to send them in the quote🤔

Well, I don't think we could've picked a noisier place to break down!! At first it seemed rather quiet, with just the odd lorry going by. Come 1am, it was like a free for all with truck after truck going by and others pulling in, making a racket and pulling off again. One truck even had a rather noisy Deliveroo delivery!! Then, at around 2am, it sounded like another truck pulled in but failed to turn his engine off. Said engine has been running all night and still is....at 6am!!! I have yet to venture out of bed to see what it is, as hubby is still asleep and I don't want to disturb him. Roll on 8am when the recovery truck should arrive!!! :pray2:
We parked at Folkstone services the night before the tunnel crossing. It was exactly the same as your experience- noisy wasn’t the word!

It was only after I mentioned it on my Hollibobs thread the next day that I got ‘oh, silly you, you should have stopped at The Valiant Sailor’ from numerous Funsters - and they call themselves friends …..

Hope you get it sorted, and are already on your way!

I just looked and 59/60 are also missing on my phone

UPDATE
Recovery picked us up almost bang on time. Found a garage that could do the repair on Thursday. I said "THURSDAY??". He said he'd try another garage. After many phone calls he said he found one that could do it today!!! YIPPEEEEE!! So we're outside the Fiat garage in Angers, eating cakes from the boulangerie while the mechanic fixes the filter. As I type, he's just finished....a 10 minute fix!! I am SOOOOOOOO happy! Hubby's gone off to pay. I don't care how much it costs, I'm just so glad they've helped us :)

Thank goodness! So glad you are sorted and that you came on here for help, great Funster community, even if no-one was able to physically help you, you got emotional support and targeted advice about the problem which must make you feel more confident in the garage repair.
I hope you get a great night’s sleep tonight.

When you get home, give everything around and below the filter a good clean to get rid of the spilt diesel or it will stink for ages

Glad you're all sorted now and it was an easy fix. I've just returned from a trip to Spain and had a spare fuel filter with me for just this type of problem should it occur as it seems common. Luckily I have the older spin off canister type so no special tools needed to change it.
