Mosel Meet.

We. are on the tunnel now , hope to be on the Mosel Friday / Saturday pop in for a drink if you spot us

Have the German schools broken up for the holidays ?. It was fairly quiet here in Trier until about 4pm today. Then all hell let loose, vans coming in droves all speaking some foreign language. This will just not do, I will have to send some of them away tomorrow .

We got here last night ( Wintrich ) it’s busy but there are places €9 with electric

Oh dear, her indoors has found a T K Max in Trier. Thankfully there is a very good ice cream shop across the road. The bench outside was full of very quiet husbands eating there tubs of ice cream. I had to join them of course, just to be sociable and help local business with a large strawberry tub of ice cream.

Having spent the last 5 days on the stelplatz at Trier in good company with the resident Brits Claus and Mo (not funsters). We will be heading in the direction of Reil tomorrow. Its about an hours drive, so if I get tired or thirsty we may not make the full distance in the day, so could be on a half way stelplatz. I will of course update our exact location tomorrow for the benefit of those wishing to avoid us :LOL::LOL:.

Its cloudy here in Trier but no rain as yet. Its given sun at 10 oclock . They are desperate for rain though.

lets hope it rains over Hockenheim and give our man Hamalton a fighting chance

We will be heading in the direction of Reil tomorrow. Its about an hours drive,

There's probably 8 or so spaces left, but not on the river bank and all the electric points seem to be taken. On the plus side it's stopped raining and it's the second day of the Reil Hof fest :drinks:

Pete

Update... There has been somewhat of an exodus within the last hour and there are plenty of spaces now including along the river bank along with strom.

Haha. I just landed and drove straight onto a premium riverside pitch just by the bar and toilet. I am not sure if it was by luck or the fact I was playing the dambusters theme through the PA as I drove on ;).
Anyway enough of this frivolity. Maybe am teaching my granny to suck eggs, but anyone that has not done the Mosel before and is leaving Trier for Reil, switch the satnav off and just follow the river along the 53.
We are the Hymer 754 with the box trailer on the back.

I think its time to resurrect this thread. There are three funsters here in Reil @Zven @champers and ourselves. Poor old @Sheriff set out today with good intentions for lunch and was led astray by @champers and cook as I had kindly given her the day off. The poor man that has previously led a very sheltered life in the valleys of deepest Wales has suddenly discovered the mind bending affects of alcoholic beverages. I do hope he is OK tomorrow as there is some sort of wine festival in the next village.

Let me just say one thing, unless you are seriously acclimatised to hot weather do not even think about coming here as its over 30 in the shade at the minute. Its so damned hot my phone wont even charge. The beer bill is getting silly now, just trying to keep hydrated.

We left because we could not sleep for the heat alas now in Picardy and yesterday’s temperature hit 44c wish we had stayed put now

Ive booked the cool weather for when I arrive end of August ,

Obviously Mr Snowbird has never spent any time in deepest Wales if he holds the impression that the area is alcohol free.

A night in the Tanners' Arms would open his eyes... ;)

Just seen this while searching for info on where to stay for WRC Deutschland. We are heading through the tunnel on the 11th, having a stop in Ypres and Camping Bissen in Luxembourg and then down to Kesten. Really looking forward to exploring somewhere new.
We are leaving Blighty late on the 10th of August and overnighting at City Europe and then we will take a couple of days to trundle over to Trier.
Over the next couple of days we plan to mosey along the Mosel to the stellplatz at Schleich.
We will be watching German round of the World Rally Championship which is running round the vineyard in the area and at panzerplatte tank testing grounds near Reichenbach if any body wants a bit of high octane entertainment between the 17th to the 19th of August.
Here's an itinerary with maps of where the stages will be run.

https://www.rally-maps.com/Rallye-Deutschland-2018

We then plan to head further into Germany up the Mosel for a few more days before turning back and taking some more of the Mosel scenery on the way back home.
Other than the Saturday and Sunday at the WRC nothing is set in stone, so if anybody else is around the area at the time then give us a yell and we can maybe put some names to faces.
