Mosel Meet.

On CamperContact one comment is "drive downhill, not uphill"!

Can you please clarify that?

Thanks - Gordon

[Hoping to get that way in Sept BUT plans often change!]

Am not sure about that to be honest. Its on the west bank, on the rivers edge and its signposted from the village. When you see the sign for the Saloon restaurant, just follow the road at the side of the river and you will come to the stelplatz.

We came down the hill from jct 10
..right by Caruso restaurant then left you will see the Mh s

Pulled in at klusserath for a night it's quite empty here. Waiting for it to cool so we can go in the van . Might just stay outside all night. Storms forecast for next week tho

We are at Klusserath as well Cookie we arrived at 11 o’clock and been outside in the shade since then. We are on edge of river. Slight breeze every now and then. Might stay a couple of days as we have a lovely spot and to be honest it’s too hot to move. As you said not many here.

Red Dragon is was good to meet you all at Trier. Thanks for your help with the card. I hope you got to Reil and enjoyed the music etc.

We intend to take advantage of the cheaper fuel in Luxembourg on the way over. Any places cheaper that others in Luxembourg to fill up ?
If you want to avoid the very busy stations on the highway in Luxembourg (waiting times of 30 mins are common in the holiday season!), take the exit ‘Luxembourg Centre’ on the E25 (no 4), follow this route (N6, route d'Arlon) a few hundred meters towards the city and you will find a cheap gas station (Lukoil). A little bit further there are Total, Esso and Shell stations. An alternative is to take the exit Bettembourg (no 2) on the E25 after the city of Luxemburg in the direction of France; at 2 km from the exit, there are two major stations, just before the town of Bettembourg (Aral, Route de Luxembourg 69, Bettembourg, and Q8, Route de Luxembourg 150, Bettembourg). IIRC the price is same at all stations :)

Just this minute arrived in the Reil stellplatz...

It's a lovely place, and have bagged a spot on the second row under the trees for shade:):):)

I've been and had a look at the notice board, but can't work out where to pay. Anyone know please? I assume I'm just being thick...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thinking of heading to the Mosel end of August. Got a Sevylor inflatable canoe. Not sure whether to throw it in motorhome. Whats the Mosel like for canoeing?

There are loads of canoeists on the Mosel. Am even thinking of getting back into speedboats for next year. Desperately looking for a Ray Wright Delta at the minute. Have found a minter in France for sale, but no movement in price as yet.

Just sitting out having my coffee this morning and got to wondering just where else you could be where something like this comes cruising past your front window.

Different river, different country though.

Still planning on coming over to the Mosel in September. Looks a smashing spot and just the kind of place we love.

Richard.

I can sell you mine for the right price...

My dear friend, you are forgetting your station. I am your supplier, you are my customer .

You're not wrong... We had to bail last night, and leave the Mosel. We've got my Dad with us and the heat finally got him (asthma etc), so we've had to have a quick dash to the Dutch North Sea coast...

We're now sat overlooking the sea, it's a pleasant 27°C with a lovely cool breeze.

Such a shame we couldn't stay:(:(:(, but I think we'll definitely be back next year...:D:D:D

If I can get my hands on a decent classic speedboat for next year, we could have a water ski meet to coincide with the hog roast. Any water skiers out there ?. I know my old pal @JJ would be game for this :D2. Now just think what fun the funsters could have with a decent speedboat and some water toys up and down the Mosel :). I can imagine it now, speedboat with a big banana in tow full of funsters arriving at a riverside bar for aperitifs and lunch (y).

And for you next trick, Mr Snowbird, work out how to get them back.

Any legal problems to this ? We did a boat holiday on the Earn in Ireland and were surprised at the number of Germans renting boats, so I asked. "In Germany we need a certificate before we can hire a boat, over here easy".

When I "hired" I meant they needed a certificate to use a boat. It was long ago so the details are vague. I've seen very few little boats in use on Rhein/Moselle, might we why.

Agree about the Rhine being more commercial, with few small craft, but here on the Mosel hardly a few minutes go bye without a small craft, canoe, speedboat or even jet ski goes past. We even have a slipway in the village.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!
