Mosel Meet.

Ditto Dave & Pat. (y)

Not sure ourselves yet what's what (medically), so can't commit to anything yet. :(

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Thanks Jock, do your best pal, it would be great to have you along. I will be in need of a fire officer to keep an eye on the BBQ (y).

At Reilly today for a while anyone n the area

Reil hate these pads

A great Stellplatz. Are there many vans on ?. We love Reil and will be spending some time there in the next few weeks. The little bar on the Stellplatz does a great BBQ and hog roast.

Celebrations ?

There are huge celebrations in Reil the first week of August. Hog roast on the Stelplatz with a beer and wine festival. A shindig that most funsters would warm to (y).

That sounds great, do you know of any similar mid/late September Dave (y)

Thanks, we will not be reaching the area until around the 10 Aug.

You don't need a Fire Officer pal, you just need to avoid cheap fatty burgers.

Cheers,

Jock. ;)

That reminds me, supermarket in Schweich, we bought some awesome burgers, French. They were as good as a burger gets and not expensive.

The Snowbird has landed in Trier. Plenty of space at the minute, but like most things in life that could change at any time. Anyone that will be arriving in Tier in the next few days, please give us a heads up. For the attention of Cath @champers, the place I told you about in Luxembourg has a very good Koblenz sparkling wine on offer at 4 Euros a bottle, sec and demi sec. I picked a couple of cases up, just in case I run out of water.

Diesel prices have dropped a little in Luxembourg since I fueld up a few weeks ago. Its now 1.105 per litre. The advantage of my long range tanks are that when travelling home last time I filled up in Luxembourg at 1.112 per litre and that got me home to Liverpool and back down to Dover. I just managed to limp into Belgium and put 60 Euros in to get me back to Luxembourg. Old habits die hard .

Can I ask has anyone stopped off at
Thieu on the way to the Mosel?

Sorry to piggy back on this thread but....We have 3 nights planned for the Mosel from Friday 10th August and I wondered which sites anyone would recommend for this short period? Could it be difficult getting on to stellplatz at that time of year/week? Can't stay longer because have to return to UK for a family wedding. Thanks in advance

I think Reil is as good as anywhere. The stelplatz is huge and its only a short walk along the river into the village with several nice bars and restaurants. The river cruisers stop there if you wanted to take a short river trip. We will be spending some time in Reil, so pop in for a chat.

Over the last 3 weeks we've travelled up the Mosel from Trier. We're now in Urzig (just north of Bernkastel Kues) having stopped at 6 stellplatz's along the way, travelling no more than about 15 - 20 mins between stops, none of them have been more than just over half full. In previous years motorhome needed to be off the road by early afternoon to find a place to park up for the night, but this year we're constantly seeing motorhomes driving along the Moselweinstrasse in the evenings with no problems in finding space for the night.
Tomorrow we're heading up to Reil for a few days before returning home next week.

Thieu on the way to the Mosel?
Yep, we've been too, and stopped by the side of the canal, next to the Old Boat Lift (same as the link above).

A great visit, and a quiet night. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

There is no stopping cook now. She has just discovered that she can get 4 cases of beer in the etrike basket. Whats more she has now moved up a gear from first to second and also moved up a power rating from eco to cruise. She has another 5 gears to go and 2 more power ratings. God help us .
