Mosel Meet.

Hi all we are headed for Treir today(Tues) anybody likely to be there.?

We will still be at Reil until Monday. There is a gaucho style hog roast and beer and wine festival on the stelplatz on Friday evening with music and much merriment so that should give me all weekend to recover before moving 5 kms down river.

What's the weather like there?
We were over near wurtzburg after doing the romantic road (south to north), but the 35°C temps finally got us, and we've scarpered up to Holland for some cool.
We are hoping to be back at Koblenz on Sunday - weather permitting - to start the Mosel route...

Its hot as the hobs of hell. Just drops down to around 30 at night. Bring beer, forget the Fray Bentos pies. If it keeps up like this much longer there will be a beer ban :(.

Just seen this while searching for info on where to stay for WRC Deutschland. We are heading through the tunnel on the 11th, having a stop in Ypres and Camping Bissen in Luxembourg and then down to Kesten. Really looking forward to exploring somewhere new.

@Richard Glew Richard, if you need tickets, here's a link for the online ticket shop.

I was just going for bread this morning and the Gaucho style hog roast had just been fired up. Roasted all day over a cherry wood fire, it should be done for around 7pm this evening. Eat your hearts out vegies :).

Looks quieter than when I was there in May.

Hi Brendan. It is a lot quieter than I expected. As you know, May and June were very busy, but you can choose your pitch now. Maybe its too hot for the Germans and they have all headed elsewhere. @hilldweller is not always right :D.

Glad to hear it. But can't understand it apart from what you just said, too darned hot.

Half of me would love to be there, the other half knows I couldn't stand the heat, it's bad enough in the 20s.

30 in the shade this morning. I am getting acclimatised now though. Bring beer, the village is running out :).

I have declared those two Vegan for the weekend :). I saw chef bringing a huge ham out this morning which went into the smoker. I must admit, it does have the makings of a good night out :).

Is this hog roast a one off each year or a more regular event.
We are going to be in that neck of the woods in two weeks time and would like to help out the best I can with devouring the porkers.

When we were here in June the little bar on the stelplatz did an all you can eat BBQ. When I say all you can eat, I mean all you can eat, steak, trout, pork chops, salad, the lot, all for 12 Euros. The hog roast is a bit more expensive at Euro 12-50. The guy obviously enjoys what he is doing and is passionate about it.

Why don't you lot act your age?

You should be in bed with a mug of Horlicks by 7.30 pm...

JJ

Nah, plenty of time for that when I get to your age JJ :D.
