I was mainly drinking Reisling in Reil though Jock:)

Hi folks . First time my Wi-fi has worked for 2 days. Had a great day a Reil yesterday and just deciding where to potter off to next

We are staying put at Piesport until Monday, hopefully the weekend travelers will be on their way home then, 2 or 3spaces here today but not for long I suspect. What is the situation further down towards Riel and Cochem?

Seems to be if you hang around you’ll get a pitch at Reil Jim, coming and goings all day and evening.

Hi All we are currently in burgen on the mosel.
Can anyone recommend a stellplatz or campsites that have footpaths and cycle tracks from sites for walking 2 dogs

Would agree with @dabhand in that, the ones we have stayed on so far have been next to cycle routes and paths, all suitable for dog walking.

Mini meet at Piesport.

Decided to have a convivial afternoon at the Stellplatz at Piesport.

In addition to Jim and Lynne,@Jimbohorlicks, we also had the company of Keith and Sandra @G-RMPS to help us on our merry way.

We have now left Piesport and driven all of 7kms to Kesten where we just happened to arrive at the same time as a Dutch couple who were leaving from their spot on the front rank. I'll have to find someone who sells Lotto tickets. We're not usually so lucky.

For info, the Stellplatz at Kesten is 9€ per night with Electricity. There is plenty of space although whether the whole site has Sparks, I don't know. It might be necessary for long leads as we were on the limit at the closer of two Plugins available to us

Hi @steve and gina,

The short answer is (assuming you are heading South) that every one of the stellplatz by the river have cycle paths (or better) and most of them have a score of 7+ on Campercontact.com at a price in single figures.

We are looking for footpaths not next to the main road as sometimes one of the mutts like to lunge at cars

As Derek @Emmit says, almost all have cycle and walking paths. We have a dog (but no bikes) and the one I liked the best for dog walking was at Mosel Beach, closely followed by Wintrich.

Thanks we will give it a try

Today so far, the time for a space at Reil was 11am several left riverside pitches

For those thinking of using Cite Europe and feeling totally safe doing so , may have to modify their approach . I was parked on Sat about 11:00 am in the part for coaches immediately adjacent to the MoHo section . We had been shopping and lunch then came back to the vehicle , sat watching the TV when heard door open and so got up to see what was going on , to find a small Somali/ Ethiopian type sat inside door on footwell steps !!!! He was told to leave in a robust manner ! Which he did.
Moved vehicle after alerting Police further into centre of coach park nearer to other moHo . Porkester was parked in same park . Luckily . We were again inside when we saw a buddy of the previous "visitor" walking across park from near us. I got out to have a check round having heard a slight noise. Sue followed me out and I went round vehicle checking lockers were still locked to meet Sue and Porkster coming to meet me whereupon "P" informed us that he had seen one climb under scooter cover on rear lift . Following some enthusiastic prodding a small brown man appeared saying sorry repeatedly and took off ! It was shortly after this that we decided to relocate and ended up getting the next ferry , no extra (Thanks DFDS) who were very sympathetic when informed of the reason for our earlier departure . When we left we could see several of the immigrant group in the trees adjoining the MH Aire !!! So a big thankyou to Porkster :)
No one ended up getting a free ride to Blighty :)
@PORKSTER

I did nothing but inform you to be honest I was a bit warey. You weighed straight in no bother fair play to you. I noticed group of undesirables in trees when entering Aire because tunnel had problems. We parked up wife was making rolls as I see 2 lads walk my way. They by passed me and headed to your van where they set about hiding under your scooter cover.
Now I didn't have a clue what to do tbh I couldn't just leave it I see others looking but they clearly didn't want to get involved.
You must have got home before me I didn't get home until about 4 am was meant to be on 8,20 train then section of M20 shut.
Here's a little memento for you

@tacr2man. Thanks for relating your experience Max, thereby confirming that it's still a possibility to be approached or hindered by immigrants.

The previous two accasions we've been through Cite Europe, there has been a heavy Police presence, but we didn't see one officer this time round. :(

BTW, how do they know if you are coming into France, or leaving...............................unless of course the boarding pass is in full view? ;)

Glad to know that you got back to Blighty safely. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)
