Morocco 2020

The Marina is a great stop over for ALgeciras and easy walk into the Gibraltar theme park.

We stayed over New Year and poked our heads out the top of the van to see the fireworks and the planes landing. There used to be an aire at the football ground at La Linea but apparently it is now closed but there is a campsite further around.

There is a lot of crime in the area because of the drugs coming from Morocco and we had to be very careful on our beach stroll as we took photos of the pretty little boats out in the bay and poked at some of the things that had been washed up.

Terry I knew that there would be a formal explanation for "the bloody noise those boats are making."

You are right. Move away from the main streets and La Linea is a very intimidating town.
It is not a nice place.

In Morocco we felt comfortable (and welcome) wherever we wandered.

This is the American version of government travel advice.

Ok, we’ve committed to going....dog having titre blood test this week, insurance and green card sorted.

date leaving uk 25th January, booked Benicarlo meet 1-8th April on our way back.

looking forward to it.

How safe is morocco
My stock answer is 'as safe as London or Paris'? Seriously everywhere you go has its risks but I really don't think Morocco is riskier than Spain. as Terry says you have to be a little careful on the roads but again where don't you? There are quite a lot of police check points where the Mh's get waved through and they have a look at anyone suspicious.

We ve been 4 times and are planning the 5th for 2021, and my wife is even keener than me.

Does anyone know why the football ground stopped and is it permanent? Was a great stop and if you nosed against the wall you got a better sea view than many campsites. Sue is not keen on the marina because the rattling halyards keep her awake.

The Aire at the Marina succeeded in their legal case against the football club. They had been trying for ages.

A Pity, we have been using for a few years now and have always found it to be safe and a great location for visits to Gib. I find it odd that the Marina can impose parking restrictions on a local football clubs car park. I would have thought it was more to do with the complex being closed because end of football season and no one around to collect daily fee. Not to worry as one door closes etc.,

The offseason was a huge money earner for the club, with (mainly) Spanish motorhomes visiting the area. (Staff are present at the Club year-round.)

According to the last post on Camper Contact it's now €14.20 at the marina ? A few days before that it was €12.50.

I would have stopped there again at 9 euros bit they can stick it at 12 euros, everybody should do the same and all night clanking is no good as Sue commented.

What puzzles me if the Marina is in Gib and the football ground is in Spain. Im sure the Spaniards would have told the Marina to Foxtrot Oscar as there is so much agro over Gib from the Spanish.

The Marina is on the Spanish side.

It’s like mingebag city on here  :eek:If you can afford the fuel to get there what’s €14 to stay a week!:giggle:?

It was €12.50 a couple of weeks ago. It wouldnt surprise me that it is more, now that they have got rid of the “competition”! Greed!

I believe Theonlysue is at the marina at the moment. Any comment Sue please?

According to Camper Contact €12.50 but latest comment states a payment of €14.20 which is an odd increase. I suspect it's an add on of some sort.

I paid € 12.50 for 8m van.
Big vehicles like the yanks are a bit dearer.

It's on the spanish side, and there is no clanking at all!!!!
Regular security patrols at night as have some really expensive vessels there.
10 mins stroll into gib.

So we've sorted out the Green Card for the van. Now need to do the same for the scooter which we carry in the garage of our van. The scooter is insured with Hastings Direct however they do offer a Green Card for Morocco. Do you know which insurers offer cover for Morocco? Any idea of the cost of the third party cover you can buy in Morocco? We will be in Morocco for around two months. Thanks Martin

I re-insured ours with LV to go this year as bennets wouldn't play ball, surprisingly I ended up better off.

Hi do you recall the cost per week/month for the green card with LV? I called LV but they could not tell me the cost unless I had a policy with them. Thanks Martin

If find that very strange, Safeguard quote that reason that they cannot issue green card for Morocco because there underwriters are LV

buttons Martin, the whole policy was only £70 300cc scooter but good post code and years of bike experience.

Go for it
