Morocco 2020

I’ll go and hope/pray that insurance will be available and above board at Tanger Med as often cited here on MHF. If not, I will have wasted the ferry costs plus the travel/medical insurance cost for the cover which we managed to find that we could obtain in Gib after all.

It will certainly not be a wasted journey
I am fairly sure that something will be available at Tangier Med, as others have obtained it.
I would be sure to take photos of where/who you bought it from and you can do no more.

Remember, like all insurance it is highly unlikely you will need to claim on it and no particular reason (other than our general apprehension) that it should not be above board.

I have never been asked to show my Green Card when travelling to Morocco ??? Not going this year and possibly not next either unless this insurance malarky is sorted out.

The insurance agent at Tanger-Med is a two-storey building just beyond the bureaux de change in the parking area after you've cleared Customs & Immigration. Like Phil, never been asked for the Green Card at the border so you shouldn't have any problem. I would guess that you would be asked for it at a document check - which you may get if (when?) you're stopped for speeding - or, heaven forbid, in an accident.

Can you tell us from who and where did you get medical insurance in Gib and was this because you are also based there.
thanks, Martin

Presumably the Green Card is only needed for UK based insurance. If you buy it at the border like sciac2001 is suggesting then there is no need for a Green Card.

Ive been done twice for speeding and didnt show it either time. They re more honest than our lot and openly just want the money.

Are we getting excited yet ????

A.I.B insurance and Comfort Insurance, through Aviva are quoting 50% of the annual policy for over 6 weeks. Safeguard don’t do Morrocco nor do Motorhome Direct....

You did well there then - it was significantly more for me.

I would definitely take it up with them as mine was exactly the same as BILL 875

Assuming his insurance does not cost exactly the same as mine it seems that the up to 50% of the policy cost is not the case and it is a flat rate of £221 for over 3.5 for 90 days.

It's to do with the 50% of annual premium capping - obviously my normal premium is somewhat more than yours. Already had this chat with Comfort.

I was quoted over £400 by Comfort for 90 days, nearly as much as their comprehensive insurance quote which was around £450 from memory. Our van is on a 5.9 ton chasis and 7.9mts long so that may well have been a factor.

i rang Saga for my Morocco one today, 4 months, in the post F.O.C. Well let’s hope eh? I’ll let you know!

And in the real world
