Morocco 2019

I want to apologise for my use of language in my last post. It was certainly not aimed at any member in particular, although it might appear that way We are now in Morocco for the first time and the posts about the dangers of travelling here seemed unhelpful and had made my wife (and me) more nervous about going.

Just so you know, I have indeed been banned from the site for breaking Rule 1.But, because we are now in Morocco, for the first time we will have information to share with others and we will need to be in touch with other Forum members more than ever before.

So in these particular circumstances I asked Jim to please reconsider and if you are reading this then he has agreed. More Morocco posts to follow."

Whoops! Incomplete post above due to icy WiFi when Lecce fails. All good now and about to walk down to restaraunt shacks at end of beach. Went there yesterday and a Good selection of food on offer including Tagines from 30 TH. Fish guy came this morning and it's now cleaned gutted and in the fridge, we will have that tomorrow as have thawed some beef for a home made Tagine today. A poor picture of the campsite. Loads of people on here and another 2 campsites within 200 meters and a few wild camping in the immediate vicinity.

What’s the temperatures like @PhilandMena :)
Right now, 1.45 pm local time about 20 deg. First thing in the morning it's around 7 deg. C. I noticed the step change in temperature once we hit Kenitra, although ice was still forming at night on the outside of the M' Home. My advice, get down to around Agadir asap and you will have a reasonable morning and glorious days and evenings.further south puts you in the beginning of scorchio region. Safe travels.

I tried at Qualidia and the girl was out of her depth. I will try again at Tifnit when we pass through and will post results on here. Expect to be there within the next 7 days or sooner

Food/restaurant prices. This may help some of you get to grips with this who have not been here before. Moroccans will happily overcharge you and take a shed load of money off you, if you allow them too. In our previous place a bill of 50 M.D.. was requested when I asked for the bill, or a pot of tea. I kicked off and we settled for 10 M.D.. Today as we walked into the tiny centre of Sidi Kauoki the first big hotel was asking for 80 M.D. for a Tagine and 25 for a coffee. Down in the centre several restaurants located together are competing for customers. This is what we got and regard as reasonably priced. A morrocan salad (2 small plates of mixed salad). Kafta and chips for Mena. (the Kafyta is a type of minced beef served inside a round chunk of bread). I had sardines and chips (6 good sized barbecued sardines) a bottle of water for Mena and a bottle of Fanta for me. Along with the usual basket of bread, olives and dips. Total cost 63 M.D.. it was the Fanta that jumped up the price a bit me thinks. Anyway, it's now scorching hot and everybody is seeking shelter. We also checked out the campsite next door, it has a new swimming pool, looks inviting but not being used by anyone. 75 Mad per night plus another 20 for lecce. Anouther option to consider if you cone here. Finally, the road to here from the N1 is being resurfaced along it's complete length but is not a problem for cars and motorhomes.

We re planning (loosely) on crossing 28th/29th Jan and then will be going to Asilah for first stop. Happy to help any funster if they want it.

Jon & Sue

We're planning on crossing 29th January, along with @Portland and possibly another if you fancy joining up for maybe a bit of discount at Carlos'. Suggest PM closer to then. Anybody else?

Thanks to everyone contributing to this thread. We are going to Carlos' on Tuesday for a Wednesday sailing hopefully.

We stayed there on 3 separate occasions last year, a great stop for a few days, with good washing machine, good service point, plenty of space, and loads of wind, and iffy electric.....but we will be back again in the next few weeks....

We are booked on the tunnel on 21st Jan and heading for Morocco via Mojacar to deliver a bicycle:Eeek: and other supplies including 30 packs of McVities Custard Creams!!!
Hope to get ferry to Maroc around 4th February so hope to meet with any funsters we catch up with on the road :D

20 deg. C We're not staying here long and moving south of Agadir tomorrow. Cold again this morning but we are on the coast and it's warmer further inland.

Hmmm, were hoping it would be better than that - we're currently just south of Valencia in Spain and it's better than that!

We have just left Tan Tan Plage heading south. The weather here is beautiful -hubby complaining it’s too hot for him. 3 campsites along the front all pretty similar with similar prices 60 md 20 extra if you want electricity. Reasonably clean although lots and lots and lots of flies.

Glad to hear Spain is having a better winter than last year. We were there and it was a shocker. When we left Algeceria the weather was good but still cold in the mornings. The wind coming of the sea is cold and that is why we are getting the temperatures we have. I expect a sea change ( lol) once we get south of Agadir and will post back for those of you behind us seeking warmer weather.

Hope your crossing goes well @billym ....................you can change money with Carlos at a good rate and it saves messing about on the other side after what will be a long wait at customs.........TIP don't be behind 20 Russian motorcycles who each have to have the vehicles checked and registered.

At Asilah we got a Maroc sim and 100 gb data for 100dm(bit less than €10) and it's worked really well so far............also got a 200gb top up card (200dhm) which should last the trip.

From Kenitra we decided to take a city break by train to Rabat 30 mins by train..............it had more to offer than I had realised and I recommend it ( PM if you want anymore detail). Overnight in a hotel close to the Medina and as people have said the shopping was very relaxed with no hassle ............yes really(PM if you want anymore details)

So far we have found the Attijariwaffa bank to be the only one not to charge extra at the ATM................that's if your own bank doesn't charge.

Now at L'Ocean Bleu in Mohammedia and after only 10 days really loving the Moroccan experience (so far ??????) I remember how nervous we felt that first night parked outside Carlos when everyone was speaking French and seemed to know exactly what was happening.

So come on in.......................... the water is warm.

Help please, we are currently in sale just outside of Rabat and we can't get Google maps to accept coordinates, what am I doing wrong? I've downloaded Google GPS and still can't find where to put the coordinates, am I just thick ! Please can some one help we are heading for tafroute and I'm sure it's going to be hard without GPS

Download the maps me app on your phone and morocco maps never failed
Good Luck

Unless MarocTel are doing exceptional deals from last year I think you prob mean 10 & 20gb cards at that price.

I've tried that it won't work, do I need to leave the letters off or something , I've got map.me coords won't go in that search bar either, our problem is we only have coordinates no actual address

just keep the sea on your right and head south.
cross the bridge by rabat go a bit down the rioad then turn round turn left just before the river ,then follow the river . keep looking at the walls of rabat etc and follow the coast . the coast roads are amazing . treat casa blanca the same just hug the sea. as you get to safi at the bottom of the hill turn right and head for the port but just before the port turn left and again its follow the sea . some are bumpy tracks but its no probs .
the best parts of morocco are where most tourists hardly ever go.

Thanks, any campsite addresses please, I know I'm a pain, I'll get you all a large g and t when we eventually find you
