Morocco 2019

We are below Safri in a tiny surfing spot called Mouley Bouzarqtoune. A free stopover that is nothing great but very peaceful. Will drop down below Essaoura tomorrow to try a newish 60 MAD campsite. Running low on lagar already.
Looks like a trip to the shop in agadir :)

There are a couple of brown 'paper bag offies' in Essouria plus the Carrefour at the southern end of town has a cordoned off booze area.

The offies are located at:-

Avenue Al Massira Al Khadra

Rue Charif El Idrissi

Looks like our leisure battery has decided to give up on us (only a couple of years old so thought it would be fine) has anyone bought one in Morocco? Any tips on where to buy and how much to expect to pay? We are in Sidi Ifni at the moment

Agadir is probably the best place - Camping Car Trigano - 13 Rue Cheik Ma Al Ainin

North 30deg 25.356 West 9deg 34.610

Alternatively there is a guy called Mustafa (now deceased) his son carries on the business of MoHo repairs. He's located at the other end of the block. ie when you're stood outside facing Trigano, Mustafa's is to the left. Hope this helps.

Thanks thought that might be the case hope it holds out then
Until we go back up

Now in a great little campsite in Sidi Kawoki. Dedicated bays for motorhome, drinking water, hot showers clean facilities, lecce, WiFi. 60 Mad all in. Washing machines 40 Mad. Full of French and me. I feel for them already. Everyone agrees this is the best camping site here and we will stick around for a few days as I have heat too. Fish guy comes every day and I sorted him out on our first meeting. He has agreed sea fresh Dorado at 30 Mad a fish and he knows I can tell a fresh fish from one a few hours old and has promised me fish straight from the sea. Solar panel man got short shrift too when I asked him if he was the guy who used to work at Tagazoute and Tafroute. So he won't be back near me again. Spectacular sunsets now and I will post again later as still settling into camp site. Twat at last place tried to charge me 50 Mad for a tea. He got 10 Mad and earache. Some of them still trying it on. Mena says hello to all. Now 8n her shorts and summer top and were now getting what we came for.

Hi all we're heading over on Monday, heading south, any tips , hopefully we'll catch up with some of you, we're surrounded by the French at the moment, is it right that you can't get unleaded petrol for the scooter??

Sorry to be a pain, can you get dirhams using a credit/ debit card or does it have to be euro's?

Yes Marc, it's quite good too. I have the new one at Sidi Ifni on my radar plus a few others I have not visited before. Going to try the one just below Agadir next as very highly rated and might be perfect for us on the way out as we are getting the motorhome serviced by Fiat in Agadir on the way out. Odd of Ken to have a go at Ttossers when he spent all that time on Tagazoute and Tafroute with the rest of us. Must be an English class thing Marc. Where are you 3 at the moment is your dog still eating motorcycles? Mena says hello and tell Sam we look forward to the next time we meet.

Plenty of banks everywhere. Also just after the customs in tangier med, about 200 m are offices, tickets desks and a cash point. All on the left hand side of the road.

You can buy dirhams at the Bureaux de Exchanges, situated just after the Customs facilities if you're using Tanger-Med. They'll exchange most currencies - and take no notice of the touts, the rate is the same, it's a government managed rate. We've changed euros in the past but we're going to try sterling this time as we thought it was a better rate.

There are cash dispenser machines in all the larger towns but they all make a small charge, even with a so-called no fees card. Never had a prioblem with them.

Sunset at Mouley Bouzarqtoune. Unless your a surfer, best missed. Wild dogs scrap with the Campers dogs AND they 'Get ON PARADE'! at about 7 am and roll call is worse than a children's playground.

Qualidia. Worth a visit, don't give the guardians alcohol. They can be a bit of a pain but nothing more. Harmless, but just get on your tits a bit. Great Aire and close to beach and shops.

Good to hear your all well and look forward to seeing you in Tafroute. I think I have your campsite on my radar too. Came up on Camper Contact, with others in that region. Do not bypass the Mosq at Cordoba, mind blowing.

I want to apologise for my use of language in my last post. It was certainly not aimed at any member in particular, although it might appear that way We are now in Morocco for the first time and the posts about the dangers of travelling here seemed unhelpful and had made my wife (and me) more nervous about going.

Just so you know, I have indeed been banned from the site for breaking Rule 1.But, because we are now in Morocco, for the first time we will have information to share with others and we will need to be in touch with other Forum members more than ever before.

So in these particular circumstances I asked Jim to please reconsider and if you are reading this then he has agreed. More Morocco posts to follow."

If your going up to Sidi Ifni there’s a decent site at Mirleft called Ercounte, it’s pretty decent, all facilities, restaurant, bar and some great entertainment when we were there.....me and Suggy and a gang of berbers and a frogged accordion player, a memorable few days

We loved Sidi Kaouki we used it last time as one of our lazy stops, so wandering down for lunch at the beach shacks and walking along the endless beach. We found it OK to go into the carrefour at Essaouira on the scooter from there.

Shame about the Essaouira stop, last time we had a really nice dinner at a restaurant with a terrace on the walls with WINE, cost a fortune by Moroccan standards though (580 Dh just checked my notes)

Jon

We re planning (loosely) on crossing 28th/29th Jan and then will be going to Asilah for first stop. Happy to help any funster if they want it.

Jon & Sue

Asilah was our first stop but we stayed at Erchgui which is right next to Camp Asaada as it was a little greener and not so busy. Then on to the big Marjane supermarket just off the motorway at Larache to stock up with anything except alcohol (not in any of the Marjanes anymore I think)

Then to Camping Intenational at Moulay Bousselham..............the site reminded us of the New Forest as it was very green with animals wandering around...................unfortunately the facilities were not cleaned and there was not a drop of hot water anywhere.
er
Now in La Chenaie in Kenitra...........................reasonable enough with hot showers for 10d. I was a little nervous about the guard dogs as I remember a member was attacked here last year. There are 2 large Alsations that wander around but seem very subdued even when approached by the yappy French dogs so not a problem........don't be put off

We stayed there in 2016 Simon and met up with Mike Makems before embarking on our great road trip to Dhakla. It was as you said.

Looks like we have the typical bog standard lecce here too. I thought I had tripped the circuit breaker on the post when boiling water for tea this morning but the whole campsite has lost it. Appears to happen when the owner switches on the heating for the hot water in the mornings. The French don't seemed fazed by this, so assume it's a regular and short occurrence. (that last bit was for any sparkies out there.
