Have a safe journey back tikiskippers, was nice to meet you both

In local hotel with decent Wifi so can post at last.
Today we waved fairwell to Gwen & Mike, the Makems. A lovely couple who are liked by one and all. We had a fantastic adventure together when the 4 of us went to Dakhla. Have a safe journey you two and we hope to see you again soon.

We are now a small group at Tafroute and over the next week most will have departed heading North and South to explore other parts of Morocco. Here in Taf we are experiance g wonderful settled weather, now in the 30's. We agreed a group photo should be taken wearing some of the local clothing purchased before we go our separate ways.

Wish were back there.

Back in France now on our way to UK and it's p***ing down :crying:

We came through Somport Tunnel. Not too bad on Spanish side but sleet and fog in France:( Now at an aire in Oloron-Ste-Marie where it is still hissing down :(:( Hopefuly it will improve as we travel north but not holding out much hope!!

We left Taf today with heavy hearts. We've spent a wonderful 3 and a bit weeks of total relaxation surrounded by good company.
Many enjoyable beer o'clocks, hammams, meals, coffees at the hotel, watching football and rugby on the big screen, and of course Phils "circle of love" campfire.
Great times, great people............

Made it to Agadir without incident and parked up our usual place near the school.
We went to our usual restaurant and decided to splash out on the mixed fish platter rather than our usual roast chicken. For 70dh each we had a small Moroccan salad, a basket of what I always think is the best bread in Morocco, the usual condiments of harissa paste and a Harris type dip, an enormous plate of chips and then a gigantic platter of fish and seafood. There must have been at least 15 prawns, a huge quantity of very fresh, tender and tasty squid, a couple of quite flat fish that had lovely white meaty flesh and three Unknown fish that were about the size of large sardines but again had very meaty white flesh. A real mountain of a meal.
Had a wander afterwards to try and walk the meal off a little and found a nice cafe for coffee. They were getting ready to show Chapions League footy and had three giant screens and had put out extra chairs all facing the screens.

Back in Hotel with Laptop, so can download some pictures.
local wildlife. This tiny Willow warbler visits a tree right next to our window, tiny little fellow.

A few pictures of the recent festival. (found out the big official building up at the top is the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture and this is why the festival takes place in Tafroute.
The young woman in the green and white dress is wearing the official dress of Tiznit. Almost all of the females I spoke to that night spoke good English and clearly very intelligent. The performers on the stage were amazing with high quality sound to boot.

The campfire ! A brilliant night and enjoyed by all. The next one tomorrow night will be awesome, Ian and Nark were towing in tree trunks with their motorbike. The fire is looking more like a forest at the moment and the two Germans who parked up by my fire pit (or Phils circle of love) are not looking happy at all.

Tafroute.
Loved by one and all. Every evening as the sun sets the mountains turn red and the view is amazing. A camera will never do this place justice. Every morning when I step out of the motorhome and look at the mountains, I am gob smacked

Reminds me of watching the sun rising and setting at Uluru (Ayres Rock) - the colours are breathtaking

Well today we reluctantly left the gang in Tafroute after 34 fantastic days, was great meeting up with all of you,
Your man has been telling you porkies Phil we arrived in Taliouine not long ago after 5+ hrs the road to Igherm was ok but the R106 to Taliouine was poor for about 10km where all the bridges are still out and the diversions are appalling!! I bottomed out a few times and damaged my recently repaired metal beam on the back end:mad:
Some fantastic scenery on route tho

Thanks for that road update Mark, very helpful. I will now find an alternative route if possible. Perhaps back to Tiznit and up to the N10 from there.
Glad you made it through though.
Safe Travels.

You could go to Tata, across to Foum Zguid and up to Ait Ben Haddou via R111 and N10. We travelled all those roads last year and while there were a few bridges out on the R111 none of the diversions were a problem for our van.
Alternatively up to Igherm then take the R109 to Taroudant and then the N10. I haven't been on the R109 for a couple of years though.

Looks like it will be the R109 Mike. Andy is going up there Sat and will give me a heads up on the road condition
