Morocco 2016

It is on belgium plates. Greyish with burgundy trim (I sound like the wife describing cars) Don't know a lot about the chassis types - all I know is we can't afford one!

Will post a pic if I go by and he is not sitting outside.

If its the same guy, he speaks reasonable english, interesting guy.

Moved our position a few yards to improve our set up. Now protected from all sides with a good view out into the bay.
Went into the town yesterday, the King was due to arrive at 6. pm and the crowds were building and barriers being erected the full length of the main street. There was a lot of flight activity to and from the airport and a lot of immaculate Mercedes saloons with guy's all dressed in black immaculate suits white shirts and black tries. Police were dressed in their best uniforms and buses were arriving every few minutes with people coming to see the King. Also, we saw genuine nomadic Berber's coming into town on Camels and groups of motorbikes with flags and horns riding through the town. A stage was being set up in one of the squares and clearly the town was going to be rammed with people by the time the King arrived. A great day for the town of Dakhla. We would have liked to have seen more of the town than we did as parts of it looked interesting and whilst trying to get to these parts were told the road had been closed. So, a long detour to get back to Camping Mousseyfir, shower and then Mike and I bailed into my camper to watch the England v Jockland rugger match and murder a few beers and a fair bit of wine.
Today we have agreed and planned to do nothing, relaxation, a spot of fishing for me and enjoying the heat.

So what was the parade like?
How did the king look?

We did not stay for the parade. It was highly unlikely we would have seen anything as the crowds were getting into position before we went in at midday and judging by the number of buses and locals flocking in I doubt very much if we would have managed to get next to a barrier.
Besides, the rugger was on.

We've yet to venture outside the UK, so this is great education and looks terrific - although lots to learn before venturing so far....
Nah! Just throw yourself in at the deep end, that's what we did. There's always something to learn, no point in waiting just get out there and start experiencing it.

Lovely bike ride this morning, following a few goat tracks and what was once a drivable track down to the beach by Atlantic park. Coffee, frites and mayo on the beach then returned by the same route.

We have had a lovely time at Terra d Ocean and Tagqzoute but it's time to move on tomorrow, a quick restock in Agadir and then onto Erkounte Park for a few days, then Sidi Ifni.

The track was suddenly gone!

Hello can anybody tell me would I be breaking any laws or regulations if I brought a spare gas bottle strapped to the roof along with a second spare wheel . There is plenty of space up there! We will be heading down there in 2 weeks from ireland, yay can't wait!

I doubt they would worry about that, but they are quite hot on revenue raising cameras so keep the speed down.

I've got a spare tyre carcass strapped to the roof - not a whole wheel as it would be too heavy and if necessary you can get it changed anywhere. I carry my spare gas bottle strapped down in the shower, nowhere else to put it. Nobody has ever bothered me about either. Only thing I can think of is when you cross Channel - ferry companies usually specify a limit of how much gas you can carry apart from fixed tanks.

Plenty of info on this thread, especially the earlier pages, and in Resources.

Provided you're a fully paid up member of course.......................(that's another story eh @CherryPirate )

For resizing photos I use Irfanview, another freebie but actually quite sophisticated. Apart from resizing it can do a myriad other things including basic retouching and file conversions. Doesn't compete with photoshop of course but I like things to be simple.

Will it do owt for Phils hair do you think Terry?

It's not THAT good!

We've seen a couple of Moroccan barbers though, if Mena can get him near one. Seems to be the one thing he hasn't tried yet. What about it @PhilandMena ?

Nope! Asked a Berber how much to cut my hair and he said 20 Dh. Will wait a while and ponder.

Had a good day yesterday, done nothing except a little fishing from the rocks near our location. One follow from a brown speckled fish that would have gone back anyway, so still waiting to break my duck.
We are getting 30+ every day and no discussions have taken place yet for our next move. Today I aim to finish my Jack Reached book and I think the rest may return to the town.
Last night we cooked a shared meal and watched two films in Mike's van. Anchor man the legend of Ron Burgendy and the Zero Dark Thirty the tracking and killing of Obama bin laddin. Needles to say, lots of wine consumed.

Another hectic day at Tafraoute.
Washing done.
Water refilled.
Most of day in shade avoiding blistering sun.
Social evening with folks leaving tomoz @misskiwi

Ready for a rest tomorrow but 'she' wants to do market day for some veg! Sigh

What a superb day, scenic journey through the Dades gorge then invited to park up for the night on a Berbers land. He joined us for a sneaky beer and then along with cherrypilate and fatbob we were invited to their house for a meal. Couscous, young goat and vegetables, followed by home grown apples, delicious.

Tuesday and Wednesday!! For the last couple of weeks.

Mena and Gwen went into town yesterday and met some of the Kings air hostesses when they visited a hair dresser. Got talking to one of the girls who was apparently very beautiful and spoke perfect English and they had a right old chin wag. Appears the girls parents are disappointed in her because she is an air hostess and travels a lot on her own ? Her fiancée also wants her to quit and dissaproves of her working but this young lady has a mind of her own and refuses to give up her job and also said she would not have children until she wanted them. Good for her. She said the King was a wonderful man, very kind and treated all of his staff with respect and great kindness. They all adore him. Good for Him.
Mike and I may venture into town today, the King is still here and this will be his last day. Many of the restrictions are still in place and the town is crawling with military and civilian security. Another 30+ today. Yesterday for us was maintenance day, solar panels cleaned, my reversing camera now fully working again and I sealed the cable entry with silicone which is where I believe water ingress is causing intermittent failure and a few other little jobs inside.
Checked the fridge this morning and I have 2 cans of beer left. Might as well go and top myself now !
