Morocco 2016

OK Some info and some pictures.
The road (N1) all the way to Dakla is quite good. About 80 % in very good condition, 10% a little worn and 10% where you need to be careful with passing buses, camper vans due to badly worn edging. We found all HGV oncoming drivers were good and gave us as much room as we could, so all in all OK one or two close encounters but you get that on most Moroc roads anyhow.
Yesterday we arrived at a camp site in Boujdour and the guy tried to take the piss. He would not let us empty our cassettes and refill with water unless we stayed over one night and paid him 100 Dh per couple. We left which may explain why there was only one camper on his site. So we decided to drive on and wild camp at any suitable location which we did, near a service station and the next day we found by accident a stunning beach location, went down to have a look and stayed overnight, we more or less had it

to ourselves. Not sure where it was as there are so many good places you can simple pull into. Anyway, some pictures.

Today, an early start (09.30) and we pushed on to Dakla, we are actualy 6KM north of it at the moment but will get a taxi in when we visit. For the last few days we have been subject to a lot of stops and requests for fich and passports but treated with warmth and great respect. This morning 10 black limo's passed us and clearly something to do with the Kings visit which we are told will take place tomorrow.
Wandering if this long, long drive was worth it, knowing we have to come back on the same route until we cleared the desert terrain about 20 K north of Dakla and some of the most stunning scenery opened up in front of us,we tried taking photo's on the move but will stop on the way back to take better pictures. Now relaxing in a neat Campsite and it's 32 deg and starting to cool down. We have a beach with bleached white sand 20 yds in front of us and a guy fishing 40 yds away, Looks like the rod will be coming out again.

Some pictures of the desert terrain and the bay just north of Dakla........and an Air-force transport plane that had just taken off down the road a tad.

After guiding you round Morocco for six weeks with our experience of the country and with us being less than an hour from you, as we told you when we left Tiznit, I was just surprised that we hadnt been contacted. When I checked Facebook to see if we had missed a messanger message I was surprised to find you had posted a photo on there almost three hours before posting a request for help on this forum saying you were alone in Morocco and needed help. Had you texted or messaged us when you posted the initial photo on Facebook you could have had us at your side well before you felt the need to 'reach as many people as possible' on here. We are happy though that you have had a positive outcome and that repairs are progressing and that you will be on the road again soon enjoying Morocco again.

Who is this post for ? It's a bit of a mystery ?

Just about calmed down after the "mirror incident" two days ago.
Some may remember that last year a myopic bastard French Camping Cariste was unable to keep his decrepit Motorhome the right side of the white line and took out our wing mirror.
I eventually replaced it and put plenty of reflective tape on it for the benefit of our Gallic friends

After this latest myopic French Specsavers dodging twat had done his worst this is what it looked like

I've bodged one of gwens hand mirrors in place with almost a roll of duct tape.

We've found that down here the cars are no trouble, the trucks usually give you room but the buses and coaches you always know don't give a shit so you move over when you see one.
It's the bloody motorhomes you have to watch out for!
Bastard!

I second that ! Twat was well over the middle line and just missed my mirror by a hairs breath. The thing is though, even in my mirrors, Mike's stood out really well with those stripes on and clearly viable from a long way off. It's over in seconds and there's nothing you can do !

The earlier post to which you refer Phil (Sparkly), I believe was meant for the couple who had the blowout and are now at Mustafas. Both these couples appear to be travelling solo so to speak.

Feel for you Mike & Gwen as we kissed with a Rapido driven by a Frog last year with same consequences. We found a glazier who fashioned us a piece of wardrobe mirror glass and that sufficed till we got home.

I have to say Mike took it well, a lot better than I would have. He's a cool guy! I would have been fuming and trying to do a skid turn in order to get back at Twat head.

As always, great photos people. But a tiny little request;

Could you resize your photos down a bit before posting, they'll look just as good on the forum. It's just that with the iffy connection we sometimes get it takes ages to download them, also takes up quite a lot of data allowance. Or is it just my laptop about to give up the ghost!

I will have a look at that Terry, I have a new Laptop and do not have software to resize photo's but sure I can soon get some. I would have though looking at pictures would not use up too much data ? We are getting 4G here !

Message for Mike & Gwen re your mirror - Try searching on www.ebay.de or www.google.de for a 'Spiegel/Aussenspiegel'. I found one for ours on ebay.de but dilly dallied and it sold for €45.

Even with the postage to UK it would have still been a fraction of the cost I ended up paying for one from Southdowns. It may be prudent to contact a large German Burstner dealer as well.

Mike do you know if the mirror is Mekra or Wilke?

Thought of you. The Belgian vario from tag you liked last year is here in Tafraoute as well as the Italian Morelo again.
Hope you get your house jobs done.
See you in the summer.

Just tried to put a whole shit load of film footage on here about our journey into Dakhla as the drive down into the bay was mesmerising. I could not get it on !!!! Lucky you Terry, this would have screwed your data allowance well and truly. Will try again tomorrow ! Bad boy's, Bad boy's who's a bad boy !

@makems we are going to the Marjane in Agadir on Monday, do you want us to try and pick you up a bigger mirror from the DIY store in the same complex? We will be out in Tafaroute in about a weeks time.

I'm sitting here in an office in Milton Keynes trying to get my butt into gear and run in a power supply forba server and you lot keep distracting me by posting lots of lovely sunrises in Morocco ,its enough to make a chap mad ,when he looks outside at the piddling rain and howling wind. Well we have strong winds and heavy rain forecast ,you can stick your sunrises where they don't shine ,can't beat rain and wind:whistle::D

Hi Daz

Is that one of the rear engined coach chassied ones? superb machines all sadly getting a bit old now.
We met a belgian guy with one in Tag couple of years ago who had been everywhere - even syria back when you could.

Cheers

Jon

Think we'd have to win the lottery Daz but they are a lovely thing. Heres one of their cheaper s/h Vario Perfects for sale.

House is progressing slowly and money is haemorrhaging quicker.:(

Ive had a good look at this (on the net) very good price IMHO but the hump is a bit of a pain. thats where the pushers win although you need a hoist to get your scooter in them.

Thanks Ken. They are Mekra and I found a Uk supplier last year at £70 delivered so I got a pair. Stupid git that I am I left the spare at home. Doh!

Thanks for the offer Sandra. We will have a mooch around the souk in Dakhla today and see what we can rustle up.
Hopefully the souk won't be closed for the Kings visit.

It is on belgium plates. Greyish with burgundy trim (I sound like the wife describing cars) Don't know a lot about the chassis types - all I know is we can't afford one!

Will post a pic if I go by and he is not sitting outside.
