Morocco 2016

Watch he doesn't try to rob you Dave when he pays you for the beer. Id charge him carriage if I were you. He robbed me on a gas low filler cap which I happened to have spare. I told him they were £16 and he gave me a tenner and walked away, the cheeky bleeder

Actually Ken, that's not quite right, they cost £19.00 (Well that's what I got for it when I sold it on EBay)and it was a deal you agreed, not as if I would get owt, out of a Yorkshire man when agreeing a deal is it!

Mind you it probably beats the all you can eat Chinese buffet in Benidorm, which although lovely is probably what's keeping me awake! Gung hay fat Choi!!
Done that a few times Simon, used to be 10 Euros a head but that was a few years ago. Last time we were there (Beni) we both had the 3 courses and half bottle of wine for 5 Euros a head and it was fine. We both love Beni and Mena wants to overwinter there next year as we have now done Moroc twice in sucession.
We now have high winds in Dakhla and it's forcast for the next several days and we might be forced to move up sooner than we want.

That would be helpful Dave, I asked Colin and Sandra to pick me up 48 cans when they were in Algecerias but not sure if they had the room to do so and a little concerned if they said yes they would get inundated with requests from other Funsters, so go ahead and I'll square you up when we eventual get to Taf. If it turns out I have 96 cans, then I will be having many beer o'clock's with good company to boot.
I never saw a request for beer from you Phil, sorry I missed that as we did have room for a couple more slabs. I have nearly run out of gin now too, so I am feeling your pain!

We arrived at tanger med, only 1 hour late, waited 2 hours to get the paper work done, then quick currency exchange and insurance for the scooter and then a quick drive along a deserted motorway to Asilah , great welcome from the guardian, shame about all the other sellers, and have organised a take away tagine from the local restaurant.
Why was it all do easy ????, because of the help and feedback from other funsters ...do a major THANKYOU to you all.

Regards as always

Phil hoping to up date stock in Agadir should be in Tafraoute end of month if you want me to get you a couple of slabs ???. No problem either way if not will just drink em
Cheers

Dave, of its not too late can you get me a slab too?
My daily rate of beer consumption has doubled since I started travelling with Phil

I'll sort you out when I see you at Taf.

Mike

A question to those with Morocco experience.
Firstly, thank you for posting your stuff on here. I have really enjoyed reading about you experiences, particularly as we hope to venture that way within the next 2 years, retirement allowing. Thank you.
Question: Do you use anything like a safari room if parked up for a few days? I wouldn't use one on a short stop but was wondering if you maybe use just a side wall or two as a wind break.
I wish you all a safe time out there and safe return home, should you so desire.
Best regards
Nik.

We use a sunblocker on the front but only put out during daytime. Friends have used their wind lockers, one side/front but again only during the day. We have only seen one or two full awnings on campsites, people are probably using the room to carry alcohol instead!

We are saying our goodbyes to the coast for now and heading to Tafaroute. The weather has been as dull as dish water since we on the Tiznet/Sidi Ifni stretch of coast, time for some mountains now!!

Yes. There is at least one in the bank.

What made you think it was me, I mean him!!

See you both soon, don't bring any of your coastal weather here!!

Just left Tinehir after going through both gorges last few days. Fabulous scenery. Will try and post a 10 min film of Todra gorge when on WIFI.

On our way to Merzouga now. Absolutely sweltering. Wall to wall sunshine. Just what the doctor ordered.

We have up sticks and moved. The wind is causing problems and is here to stay for a while so we paid our campsite fees and headed out onto the coast road (another good road) and followed it to the the southern most end of Dakhla and glad we did. We came across numerous great wild camping spots and at the very end of the coast road came to a fishing village of the likes we have never saw before. A shanty town and hundreads of boats, a massive fishing fleet on the sand. We stayed a while and took some pictures (will post some later) and in the small lagoon either side of the causeway leading into the village was a bird watchers paradise with hundreads of birds and numerous waders including Terns.
We are still in Dakla at the Northern end of the coast road next to the beach with all the surfers and we have managed to position ourselves with some shelter and will stay here for a few days I suspect. Might taxi it into town tomorrow for another 30 Dh Tagine and will need another data card to watch United stuff Sunderland on Saturday.

Sorry to hear your suffering with the wind Phil, buy yourself a kite mate! Cracking the flags in Fuengirola today, mind you got a bad case of wind here as well! No following through now, love to Meena(y)

Thanks Sparkly.
I've got a wind blocker so that should do. As you say might need the weight and space for BEER.
Cheers
Safe travels.
Nik.

CC have just got back to me, they can issue a green card but I had to give them the start and end date so I opted for 90 days from 20th March. They also said I will not be insured south of Tan Tan. Thought I would post it up for info.
I hadn't heard from the CC and no green card so I decided to ring again today. I got a young girl who said someone rang me in January but there was no answer. "Member service?"
She couldn't answer my question so said the man dealing with it would call me back. He did to tell me that Aviva want another £160 for the green card.
He couldn't tell me if this charge related to a daily or weekly fee or even if it was different for areas of Morocco.
I won't bore you all with the details but will post the outcome
I posted this here rather than the insurance section as I think it is relevant to readers on this thread......if you want to go to Morocco DONT INSURE WITH THE CARAVAN CLUB !

Phil

We have our insurance through caravan club and got our green card without any extra charges. They did not exclude south of tan tan (no exclusions on paper work either). Mind you its our first time in Morocco so I did not ask either. Just asked for 90 days from 5th December. Green card arrived couple of days later. Will have to double check for next year. Thanks for the heads up. Currently at sidi kuoaki. Love Morocco

Been in the shade most of the day as it has been v bright and too hot to just sit in the sun. A light, welcome breeze in the afternoon.
