Morocco 2016

Adventure is what I am building it for, we had an Autotrail Apache and toured lots in Europe but hope in future to go further. The Alps Morocco trip should be a good test of the systems. Is anyone likely still to be about at the end of March ?

Think there will be a few still in Morocco in April maybe not as many May/June. :)

We are insured with Comfort, policy actually with Aviva. We got a Green card without any limitation on where in Morocco we could go.
We are currently at Tan Tan and planning to push South on to Laayoune and Dakhla.

Hope you got plenty of fishe forms pre filled out, once you get near layounne you get stopped at check points on a reg basis and have to fill two out each time, enjoy the N1, Ma Fatma is nice place to stop over on the cliffs, Tarfaya nice place too,

@Ali n Tim
It's a large guardian parking.
Great village/town

We will be down in three days time, max ! Will you still be there ! If so can you get info on road down to Dakla. I've been told it's not good.

Don't know what we are doing this afternoon, never mind three days time!

We went for a walk along the promenade this morning and stopped for a coffee at a nice cafe for our coffee. We sat in the sun, looking along an almost deserted beach. The whole place is very quiet, which we quite like so we might stay a few days and just chill.
I expected the campsite to be rammed with French, but they are outnumbered here by the English, Dutch and Germans (total 8 vans). The town seems empty and deserted too although small shops, cafes and restaurants are open. I wonder if nos Cher Amis aren't coming this far south this year?
So to answer your question Phil, yes, probably (y)

Thanks for that.
I forgot to print a load of fiche forms and got stopped yesterday on the road into Tan Tan. They were stopping every MH. I was asked for a fiche and the policeman wasn't too pleased when I said I didnt have any.
"Like this, like this" he shouted waving someone else's form.
I told him in my best French that I had loads but the Police kept demanding them and now I had none left. He grunted and took our passports and filled the forms in himself.
Meanwhile I was stopped in the middle of the road holding up traffic for about ten minutes and the locals weren't happy. Lots of horn tooting, shouting and arm waving.
We just smiled and waved back.
I am just following @vwalan advice(y)
Loads of fun.

At last we are escaping from Marrakech, mother in law visited, re-stocked the cupboards and fridge, now heading for Essaouria for a few days. We have had the pleasure of @Bentleybill and Kathy for the last few days, all random, nothing planned, but we enjoyed a few Beer o'clocks which has been very pleasant. Fully expect to bump into them again at some point.

We know Bill & Kathy very well. First met them at Kenitra after our epic snow laden trip over the Atlas last year (or was it this year). Give them our regards.

Look out for Bob & Ellie and their big dog Henry as they are somewhere in Maroc at the mo. They are English but have a French reg Hymer.

Will do. We seem destined to keep meeting them, 1st in Murcia, then outside Carlos's, on the ferry, waved at them is Asilah, then again on Camping Le Relais.

Just read this to Mena while we're taking drinks in the cafe. She said why would they have to hand fish to the police at a road check! Classic !

Thanks Mike, stunning day here today and found local Museum which is a about the local resistance and the fight with the Spanish.
Have ordered Tagine's for later and will be with you no later than Thursday, possibly tomorrow if it's overcast in the morning. Got the Vicarious book so will come direct to the campsite. We may push on to Tarfaya after a few days, for a few days and then think about heading up to Tafroute.

Phil - be careful of the Tangines in Sidi Ifni. I had a fish one delivered to the van one evening at the campsite below the cliff. Lynda's stomach was out of sorts so she didn't have any. The next day we were in the town and I only just made it back to the van. I had delly belly all of that day and half the next. The diacalm took a hammering let me tell you.

Thanks for that Ken, that's where we are too, Chicken for Mena and Kafka for me. Quite a few people have recommended this place to us for food and we will keep our fingers crossed.
Mena sends her regards to both Linda and yourself. We have a fair stock of imodium and hopefully will not need it. It's a horrible experiance.

Its a KEFTA Tagine btw Phil and should you have any problems theres a good pharmacy up the town.

Kafka
one who has a keen sense of sight and smell and has a complete fascination with the male anatomy. Also loves going to the gym not for working out, but for the sweet stench of men. Man stench is the only thing that can truly keep a kafka's burning desire under control.

We've always found Tan-tan plage to be quiet, it can be quite windy there and it's a bit out of the way for the French who seem to like huddling together with their own kind.

Enjoy the journey to Dakhla, we did it back in 2008 and it was quite an experience then. We can recommend stopping at the National Park at Khenfiss to see the birds in the lagoon below but remember to get your permit in town because they do ask for it.

Minigroup all parked up at Tafraout, along with 2 others already here. @Ali n Tim we're up the hill to the left as you enter the site, 2 flagpoles.

Got our own "guardian" as well!

It's very quiet here, not a lot of vans around although it may be a little early in the season. We've noticed that there do not appear to be many French about, those we've seen being in little groups. Dazzlin arrived yesterday but chose to park closer to the toilet drop, erm dump.

A bit dull and overcast yesterday but today is back to full blue and 25 deg in the shade. The water bowser is back in business and we've been visited by the usual traders. Breadman about 9.00 am as well as the expedition guys, including the one that @PhilandMena ripped off last year - yes that's the right way round and he's still in business Phil! And as I write 2 of the minigroup are having their vans vandalised, er I mean tattooed by someone who claims to be from Rashid's family. We'll see.

Lol! Another double.
The Tagine's we had today from the campsite were superb, the best KEFTA I have ever had in Moroc.
We like this place a lot, it's very relaxing but have decided to push on to Tan Tan tomorrow and meet up with Mike & Gwen.
We plan to visit Tarfaya and an Aussi dude I was taking to (That's effing Australian Ken!) said we should visit the lagoon on the way down which is full of Flamingos. Oddly enough, there was one here this morning in the stink lagoon just down the beach a tad.
Our plan is to come back to Sidi Ifni and spend more time here before meeting up with our fellow Funsters in Tafroute.

Have they still got the squatter over the hole for casette dump at Tafraoute? We called it sh*t creek.

No. Updated that last year.
It is in a gulley away from the river bed but they have dumped a load of manure there. We are just enhancing it with our contribution.

Parked far enough away (same place as last year) to not be aware even with a scorching day today.

Anyone in Tafroute got any dates on this years Almond/Music festival
Cheers
