Some git parked a donkey next to our van last night!! Why do they have to make such a loud ugly noise? Is it legal to shoot a donkey in Morocco??

Need sleep :sleep::sleep::sleep:

P.s anyone got a gun?

Yes, perfectly ok - except you have to eat it afterwards.

Donkey tagine anyone?

Five of us (was 6) parked up outside the swimming pool in Tata. Iffy electric when we arrived, the whole town is now off - told Colin not to charge his laptop! Getting very warm, off to do a bit of exploring shortly. There was an excellent market here Saturday and Sunday last year although the guardian tells us it's tomorrow (Sunday).

Stunning drive yesterday on the way from Tafraout. Take the R106 to Igherm then a P road to Tagmoute and Tata (signposted - turn left just before the Shell garage on the right after passing through the town square). Maps.me has a short cut but you miss the best of the scenery. Most of the damage has been repaired, just a few places they're still working on. I've saved it off the dashcam, just need to find some way of uploading it somewhere - I'll consult the oracle, if not, Colin!

Jamie can't understand why we won't let him run around outside like he did in Tafraout.

Anyone else been done for speeding 97 in a 80 good job I've got a good memory and remembers Phil @PhilandMena details from last year

Dave check your tyres see if they have marked them with a yellow cross, that tells the other police if you have been done before, they often put them were you may not notice so worth a good check then you can rub it off.

Your not alone! Some Moroc is walking around with my hearing aid from last year.

Four of us are heading south to tomorrow. We have now been told road is good all the way to Dakla and the scenery is stunning, if this turns out to be the case we are likely to go all the way now we have come this far.
Had lunch yesterday Salad, chicken, chips and bottled water. Worked out at around £4.20 a couple. We also have UN patrol vehicles in the town which I guess is due to how far south we are. Hot again today and seeking the shade. Soon be beer o'clock I think. Will all be gone at this rate.

It's been a lovely sunny day at Sidi Kaouki Beach but there has been a gale blowing for most of the day. Plus points are all the laundry washed and dried in about 2 hours!! Got the sewing machine out and restuffed two cushions, Colin fixed the step and the temperamental song. Lots of inverter work but the battries are back to fully charged. Bad points a nice walk along the beach turned into an endurance test with the sand wiping around and stinging every bare bit of skin. With not looking straight along the beach we walked into a pack of 6 dogs, luckily we had a stick with us, just showed them this and they moved on.

We are going to get the bikes out tomorrow to go and see some falls that @jonegood told us about and then I think we will move on to Taghazout for a few days.

The fuzzy bits is the sand whipping along the beach.

@Armytwowheels

Grand here in Tafraoute. Also washed and dried today but with a pleasant breeze - awning out all day.

Thinning out here - the mini party of 5 or 6 went yesterday, two more leaving tomorrow. Getting more peaceful by the day.

We are just psyching ourselves up for the arrival of the rif raf, lol.

Plenty of space here, plenty of sun and plenty of time.

Our favouite spot in maroc.

Terry, Fairly sure this is the same route we used last year when we went to Tata, stunning scenery but the first few miles on the R106 was ridden with pot holes, glad to hear they have been repaired. We too stayed by the swimming pool and made use of the cafe (free Wifi). Have they filled that swimming pool yet.! Tat is worth exploring, a nice town in my opinion.

Well you had better enjoy it while you can, me ole cock sparra, cause when ginger and I arrive things will change!

Have followed this thread from the beginning. Am green with envy and have decided we are deffo doing Maroc next year. I'm going to have loads of questions between now and then, so here's the first couple.

LPG - we have fillable Gas-it tanks, so could leave Spain with 17 Kgs. Is there refill available?

Alcohol - will I have to bring all my wine and beer needs, or is there booze available?

Fishing - anyone tried fishing, salt or fresh while out there?

Cheers,

Keith :cool:

Hi Ken, you can buy LPG here, in bottles (French type bottles) Butane is freely available , propane harder to get and more expensive. Most just buy Moroc bottle and connect to their existing system. Bring all your Alcohol with you. Great fishing to be had on and around the beaches. Fish dead cheap, fresh and easy to buy along the coast. Follow the thread and you will get ll the info you need. Might want to read the 2015 Morroco thread it's a long one but it's all there.

Hi Keith

As Phil has said you can buy gas, but cannot get your gas-it's refilled. There are a couple of places in Morocco that do it but it would not be worth your while planning your trip around the possible two refill depots. Petrol garages do have GPL pumps out here. The red or blue gas is so cheap out here come with your gas-it's full and then get a local bottle if you need it. To give you an idea - last year we had two full 11kg gas-it's, purchased a local 11kg bottle for outside cooking, keeping the gas-it gas for the hot water and running the fridge. After two and a bit months we had loads of local gas left and about 4 litres of LPG. This year we are out here with the same size gas-it bottles in the van and a small 6kg gas-it for outside cooking. When this runs out we will buy one of the small local bottles for outside cooking.

Booze is available if you know where to look but it is expensive. Having said that the Moroccon wine is very nice and on a par with UK prices.

No idea about the fishing though.

Til April....
Oh well, in that case, we will see you in a couple of weeks. We are not going to go too far south as would rather spend the time in Taf and then out to the desert, which we didn't get to see last year.

It is not the ginger one that lowers the tone I can assure you. Anyway, how dare you refer to the lovely Mena as the ginger one, even if she is your wife.
