Morocco 2016

if only you knew before you set off,ive got an unused electric thetford toilet
Thank you for your kind offer. Nothing major I suspect, probably pulled a connection when fixing leak below cassette area. I'm useless at electrical stuff and sure it's a simple fix and will adapt until I can get someone to give a proper diagnosis.

Thanks Terry noted all that.
It all went wrong Ken, got a text 2 hours before we had planned to set off saying ferry had been cancelled and no more available until 17th so transferred to eurotunnel. Been great fun with Brian having man flu as well but just about cracked it now.

Went to the customs office in Agadir today and have had our vehicle exit date altered to June 2016 and our paperwork annotated, signed and stamped. It only took 2 hours in the queue!
Now we an relax a bit more.

Entered Tangier Med today, no problems at customs although slow processing everyone, came over with about 60 odd French vans and a few German, arrived at Moulay Boussalam, Camping Flamants Loisirs. recharged last years Maroc data sim(y).
There is a new car park next door to Carlos office with room for 100 plus vans and that's where most people parked up last night and at the Aire by Mercadona, got a bottle of wine and a marzipan cake this year from Carlos although the girl did try to charge me 220e until I pointed to the MHF card I gave them last year:) also gone are the clear plastic envelops you used to get your documents in! he now has his own logo printed envelopes , business must be good:D Met a French guy that was on the same ferry as us going back to Algerciras last year too.
listening to the call to prayer as I type:giggle:
See you all soon

We (us and CherryPirate) are on a "wild" camping spot at Mijas, Golf Noria (can't miss it coming along A7) where there's a market today. Quite popular with Brits. Very nice Chinese restaurant adjacent where we treated ourselves last night after the long slog south. We'd decided that as the weather was c--p we might as well push on. 22 deg when we arrived but some rain overnight - but it's sunny now.

We'll be moving on to Estepona this afternoon so any of our minigroup - we'll be there when (if) you arrive.

Any chance of coordinates please. There is a shortage of wild spots down there.
We are just south of Aguilas. Could be up to a week coming down if the weather stays like this.
Catch up with you soon.

Fixed ! Swapped out all fuses and bugger me problem solved. Old fuses look fine so maybe just an iffy connection/fit.
Now near Estapona and moving on to Alseegeerarse tomorrow.

We are on the Aire at Malaga. We will stay until Monday as we have arranged to replace our brake pads on Monday morning( the warning light had come a couple of days ago:Eeek:). Not a particularly attractive site but needs must!!

Hopefully we will arrive at Estepona later on Monday(y)

See you all Monday:)

Yes that's the one. You actually can't miss it if you're passing on the A7, local town is Mijas and it's right in front of Golf Noria. Lidl just up the A7 and a new Aldi across the road. Bank adjacent and if you want to splash out, very nice Asiatic restaurant too, Wok, all-you-can eat €15. Drinks dear though.
No facils though there is a small toilet block at the far end which is only supposed to be open on market day (Saturday). Also apparently you are supposed to visit the local police station and get a permit (max 48hrs) but nobody seems to bother in the low season. We've been told that if they feel like it the police will come round and do it themselves! Nobody bothered us.

Now across from Carrefour with other motorhomes at Algecerias. When we arrived there were only 4 motorhomes here after we came out of Carlos office with our tickets there were a further 10, all French. No discount from Carlos even after flashing my Funsters badge and mentioning Terry's group. Cost me €220. (Perhaps this is the discount! Did not see what the French were paying.
All the supermarkets closed! If I had known that I would have stayed an extra day at the camp site. The old dear said she had paid the one euro discount I received out of her own pocket when I insisted on them honouring the agreed price for the one night. I feel for her.
Now in Macdonald stealing the free WiFi. Plan to do a shop first thing in the morning and be o the 10.00 Ferry. By the looks of things the French are here in greater numbers than anyone else. Not many parked up yet but I expect the place to be full by mid afternoon.

Not like you Phil all the others paid €180!

Stealing €1 from an old dear then fleecing our beloved maccy d's. Allah will not look favourably on you in the promised land - I mean maroc!

See you both soon.

Now camped up at Camping Said Mohammedia. It's been an adventure getting here. Carlos said you must me at the port for 09.00 to catch the 10.00 Ferry. Sod that, no way I'm going to Moroc without Beer, so done a shop at 09.00 when the first supermarket opened. Put the French to shame and Liddle staff still in shock. The running start at the old Le Mans races have never seen anything to touch me. I was at the till with 96 cans of beer before the cashier could open the tin and out of the shop in 4 minutes flat Mena still browsing which was duly interrupted by the mad Brit shouting from the till area. Arrived at the Ferry at 09.23 and was last to load and without delay. Left on time and boat was full of French as was Algecerias when we left. I was the only Brit. (Mena not talking to me yet, as no milk purchased at Liddle for tea ! ) Arrived at Tangier Med and usual palava at custom's, one poor French chap had to return to previous booth 4 times (I was in raptures).
Good drive down the Toll road, Rabat is still a joy to drive through but at least now you can see the work they are undertaking with the new road and it's a massive piece of construction. Be patient going through it's a pain but OK if you keep your eyes closed most of the time.
Camping Siad is perfect for one overnight stop 5 minutes from the Toll road. Your nose will tell you where the cassette is emptied and the toilet is a joy to behold. If I emptied my cassette in there it would be an improvement. But on the upside free Wifi, free drinking water and a good location to overnight. Other than that it's a bit of a shit hole.
Tonight, we are going to haver smoked Haddock, pot te toes and green beans washed down with a bottle of red.
Oh! one more thing, had to put on the air con this afternoon as it was a tad warm! Be a tad warmer tomorrow too.
Safe Travels

Oh! One more thing! I cant get my Moroc sim card to work in my MiFi. Put in sim card and switched on, then started Tablet and opened the 191 page and everything went well, scratched off foil covering number on data card and send number and got a reply in sodding French and said valid until 03.2016 but no connection. I blame Colin !

That old dear would steal your teeth and comer back for your gums if their was a profit in it. Saw straight through her I did. Anyway, I'm a Funster and she should know better.

We are in Sidi Kouki south of Essuoira at present will hole up here for 4 days then head down to Terre d'Ocean in Tagazoute for a while, weather here as expected and getting warmer;) They tried at ol chestnut with me at Carlos 220e but I stood my ground and eventually they said ok, after I pointed to the MHF card I gave them last year:)
A great place to stop on your ways down is Oulidia 25mad a night great beach and lagoon plenty restaurants/shops Tagine delivered to the van by Ali(y) no facilities tho although I think the French know where to empty their tanks close by? but a great overnight stop

Now at Essuoira, a good drive down the toll road past Marrakesh then on to the N8 and R207 all the way in to Essuoira, good surface and mostly dual carriageway after the toll road.
Parked up in the parking area by the roundabout behind a sand dune so protected from the wind and right next to the beach, perfect.
Mena impressed with what see has seen so far, nice bars (selling beer's and wine on beach front and a half decent beach.
Guardian is charging 30 DH to overnight and tomorrow I will find out how to deal with the casette. We are the only Brit here! 99% of motorhomes are French.
Met an intestine Frenchman this morning who I think must have family in the Wirral! Came over with no map and not much of an idea where to go, so got my map out and spent 20 minutes advising him where to go and what to see. A decent bloke.
For anyone interested the costs at Camping Said are 57 Dh for a couple and a motorhome, 20 Dh for lecce. Water and WiFi free. Restaurant and small shop immediately outside campsite entrance.

Essuoira well worth a few days Phil, a favourite haunt of Jimi Hendrix don't you know, get one of the chicken shawarma (hot chicken kebab sandwich) and chips dishes for about a quid in one of the high street cafes. Loved it there. Played in the 2nd bar by the guardian site your on, beers all round after my agent (@canopus) spoke to the manager. Have a great time mate.

Watching Man U game on my tablet with my Moroc Telecom data card, cheap as chips and great connection. Cracking game too. United looking more like a team tonight, though still a way to go to catch up on everyone's expectations. Come on you Reds.
