Morocco 2016

Phil are you getting you 'outes' mixed up? I think Phil & Jane above are talking about Tafraoute (up in the mountains) and I think you're referring to Taghazoute by the sea.

Don't worry mate it comes to us all eventually.

What is the hospital situation like in Morroco if needed
Depends where in Morocco you fall ill. The city's have hospitals just like we do in England! Even some of the more remote towns tend to have a medical centre and pharmacy's are very common. Go out into the really remote areas and there's nothing, maybe a whitch doctor or two!! :Eeek:

Cannot tell you what the hospitals are like as I have not been unfortunate to have to visit one, but they are there.

There is a guy collapsed here as we speak. Ambulance has turned up and he is being attended to. Don't know how long it took the ambulance but my git feeling is under 30 minutes.

Been recommended a place to visit north of Agadir in a small cove which has fishing huts there and beach parking. Apparently, very idyllic, peacefully and fresh fish made available each day. Will provide more details when I get back to the van and get my map out.

I loved Tifnite, (not Tifnit) about 40 miles past Agadir if I remember rightly, nothing much there apart from a fishing village (the village with no women?) you park on a little cliff overlooking the sea, walk to the village buy fresh fish off the fisherman, small restaurant (shack), and the lovely Bushtar who will turn up on his ancient moped and sell you bread and tuna and anything else you need, you can get water at the fort, but make sure your full before you go just in case, we went there after eviction from Taghazoute last year it was idyllic until the French etc turned up about two days later and started arguing and fighting ( and I mean fighting) about having their view stolen, rather comical really, don't let the jeep safari folks use your toilet either!

The place is called 'Imsouane' It's 12 minutes off the N1 so I will check it out on way down. It's in Camper-Contact at N30 deg 50 min 48 sec W9 deg 49 min 17 sec.
and €10.0 a night. I had a look on Google Maps and the camp site looks deserted and what appears to be 3-4 camper vans parked on maim road in village. There also is some tracks leading onto ground that looks like it has or is being used for wilding.
I'll let you know in due course, we will be leaving here Sunday latest.

Bit windy today, they don't call this place the Windy city for nothing. A few surfers out today making the most of it.

On my route down. Will check it out, thanks for the heads up.

Hi @TerryL @CherryPirate @abforfun @RayandMary @tgee
Just you let you know we are ok. Found our way out of Asilah village - did get a bit lost:Eeek:- and got to Moulay Bousselham early pm. As weather not brilliant will carry on south tomorrow. Not sure where to yet.
Hope you are all ok
A & T xx

Minigroup now parked up at Dar Bouazza, just south of Casablanca at Ocean Camping - it's in the book, Dh95 plus Dh30 if you want to risk the showers:D. In fairness the site is much improved since last year, shame it's a bit of a diversion off the logical route. Now trying to catch up with everything, being the one guy in the group who couldn't get internet sorted:rolleyes:.

Just for info, good parking outside Carlos' office - it's the old Carrefour overspill carpark. There is a height barrier but if you drive to the end, close to the office. you can get in. 56 vans parked overnight with room for maybe 20 more, better if they're parked properly of course! There are a lot more 2.5t restriction signs in most of the other carparks, except around Mercadonna and the Factory shop.

No changes in procedures into Morocco, just unfortunate that our arrival coincided with prayers, lunch and computer failure! Consequently it took 1hr 40m to clear Customs/Immigration - but at least the sun was shining! Got tgee's insurance sorted out, took about 10 mins and rather a lot of euros! Toll down to Assilah still Dh71. Guardian parking now has a loo, built by one of the guys and is not bad, certainly fine for dumping your cassette, although he charges Dh5 - told me once he's got his money back it'll be free, prob next year.

So it's all gone well and we're now heading south looking for some sun. Keep posting everyone, drive safe and have FUN!

Glad to see you are all there safe and sound.

We might be coming over next week. Mother in Law has decided to go to Marrakesh for 2 weeks from next Tuesday and EXPECTS to see us there for a couple of days at least. At this point we have just about given up on waiting for the snow to go skiing, so we might as well follow the sun.

As you have met her Phil, you know she is a formidable lady! One does tend to ask how high, when she says jump. She has and continues to be very good to us both so it really isn't too much of a hardship to go to Marrakesh to meet her.

Minigroup still together on the guardian parking at Oualidia, down near the beach, 25dh. So far there are well over 60 vans here, mostly French, and the guardians have now started double-parking them. Brilliant sunshine but a strong cool breeze.

There is a car race event round the (lower) town tomorrow and we arrived as they were setting up. They've had a practice run this afternoon and it looks like it might be a tad noisy! We were going to stay a couple of nights............!

We decided to up sticks and leave Essuoira today and head of to Imsouane. The wind was still a bit blustery and we were finding sand everywhere in the motorhome. We had done 4 days and 5 nights and glad we came.
We headed South on the P2201 to join the N1 and had to dodge some pot holes along the way otherwise an ok metal road. The N1 was much better, no potholes and a good metal road. We took the first turning to Imsouane (P1000) which is the longer way in and is a single metal road with some repair work being undertaken. It's doable but you need to be alert and know your motorhome width well. After arriving we were told we should have taken the second P1000 turning further south a much shorter road in but steep in places and not suitable for large RV's. We will use this on the way out.
We got into the tiny fishing port and went passed the sign for the Campsite and soon saw other motorhomes parked up and joined up with them. 3 Brit and 2 French. The French said you can overnight park but if you start camping you will be moved on. ( The campsite is 10 euros a night and has poor reviews in Camper Contact). What a lovely idyllic place this is, as you walk down into the port area there is little shops selling all your needs and a few cafes where you can sit down and watch the surfers below doing there stuff or just watch the sun set. Mena and I had a coffee and a mint tea 20 Dh all in. There are a lot of young guys here enjoying the surfing and quite a few vans parked up here and there just chilling out, we have seen a few with their chairs out enjoying the sun, definitely less breezy than our last stop. Will be down in the harbour tomorrow to buy fresh fish and can see us staying a few days before making a short run to Tagazoute where we plan to have lunch in Josephine's.
Incidently, filling our water tank and emptying cassette cost 30 DH at the Campsite on the first roundabout as you head south out of Essuoira.
I will let you know about the road out of here as it looks like a great free stop.

Any chance of the coords for Imsouane please Phil.
Sounds an interesting spot and we will be taking our time down the coast before heading inland for Tafraoute.
We were only talking (salivating) about Josephines today and planning to visit, if only for the bread! Best hubcaps in Morocco!!!
Look forward to your report on Tag. We will be there for a meal at Josies and pizza and salad at Le Spot even if we have to park on the road.
Enjoy and keep the reports coming.
We will be crossing tuesday Insha'allah

Thanks for the recommendation, just a tad too far from southern Spain though, otherwise we would have followed that up.
